The day I first laid eyes on Abby Boyer, I knew she was the one. The girl I would marry and spend the rest of my life with, and I vowed to do everything I could to make her happy.

There was just one problem, I couldn’t make her happy during one of the darkest moments of our marriage. No matter how hard I tried, my love for her wasn’t enough to make her stay.

I’ve spent the last two years of my life trying to forget how much I still loved her.

Wouldn’t you know it, now that I finally managed to move on, Abby shows back up in Boggy Creek. Out of the blue. Here to stay.

They say time heals all wounds—well, two years wasn’t enough time to cover up the scars of our broken past because I still feel the pain like it was yesterday. My wounds are still healing, and not even my love for Abby can fix us…but will that love allow me to forgive her and finally move on?

It is so frustrating when a good writer constantly has the same theme, which is that when men and women have problems in their relationships, the natural behavior is for the man to have sex and to move on and for the woman to remain in some sort of sexual stasis until she can be revived by the hero.

I don't get it. I'm not saying that female characters have to be promiscuous like so many male characters are in these romances, however, when they have no sexual activity except for with the man that has treated them cruelly or with whom they are no longer involved, it sends a terrible message, which is that women's sexuality can only be activated by the appropriate man whereas he can enjoy sex with many other women. It's a weird sort of regrown virginity that only the male character can reclaim.

It's sexist, it diminishes female sexuality by depicting it as something that has an on/off switch, and frankly, it is lazy writing. Is it too difficult to have female characters where women have enjoyable sex but their partners are not right for them? Is it so horrifying for the male character to return and find that his lost love has actually enjoyed sex in the decade since he's been gone?

And please, don't get me started on this whole "it was just mechanical sex/I just needed to have release/I wanted to forget you kind" argument. What it says is that she is not special to him in every way. She's easily replaceable by dozens of other women. Meanwhile, he is so special to her that she doesn't ever feel attracted to any other man.

I like this writer. I think she's talented and she definitely conveys persuasively that two characters are in love. But honest-to-God I don't know why she seems to think that women have to go on ice if they're not with the perfect man.

Second chance romance.
Divorced couple.
She left, returns after 2 years, I think it is.
It's quite angsty.

Reason for separation.
Heroine suffered a miscarriage and basically lost her mind for a bit, he suggested trying again for a baby, she left terrified of getting pregnant again.

Before the breakup there seemed to be a huge breakdown in communication, when he was ready to talk she wasn't, vice versa.

During separation, she dated but wasn't intimate with anyone.

He is.
I feel guilty.”
“About your feelings? "
“No. The women.”
“Whom you’ve slept with?”
I nodded.
“You were divorced and not with Abby at the time, so why do you feel guilty?”
I sank down onto the sofa and buried my face in my hands. “ Because I still loved her, but I slept with them anyway"
“Talk to me about why that angers you"
“They didn’t mean anything. None of them. She told me she hasn’t been with anyone.”

He wasn't aware but she returned after a while and saw him with another woman at the back of the pub.

Although they are not together and she didn't have the right to views on his actions I was mad she takes the blame.
"That it doesn’t shred my heart every time I hear people talk about all the women you’ve been with?”
He jerked his head up.
“That’s all my fault. Mine, Bishop. I own up to all of it."

When she arrives back in town he is just starting something new with another woman, we get a certain amount of intimate scenes, kissing boobs, but he stops it.
He tries again later but ends it.

Breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series.

HEA.

This is probably a me problem, but honestly the heroine is an idiot.

I get that she was most likely suffering from postpartum after her miscarriage. But to take it to the point she did and then realizing as they're signing the divorce papers that she’s made a terrible mistake?

He’s justifiably pissed off, but did the author have to turn him into a man-whore to prove it?

These books just keep getting better and better! I just love a second chance romance, especially when the couple divorces, but find their way back to each other. The trauma of Abby & Bishop’s miscarriage caused Abby to totally push Bishop out and away leaving him completely in the dark. She blamed herself and didn’t handle things right, asking for a divorce in the process. I’m not going to lie, Abs made me angry. Totally shutting down and not communicating with Bishop made me want to slap her, but the healing journey kinda made up for it. This story was full of all the emotions. I felt Bishop’s anger was totally justified. I LOVED seeing them find their way back together though. I loved their fiery passion, and how they heated up the bedsheets too.

I love Boggy Creek. I love the girl gang, and had the immense pleasure of sensitivity/beta reading for Candace’s character, who is a Black woman. Her over night hair routine is totally mine—just saying.

“I don’t want to date. I long to live my life with you. To be your wife, help you on the farm, wake up in your arms, and fall asleep on your chest. I want to…” Her voice cracked, and she sniffled before she went on. “I want to tell you every single day that I love you, and only you. And more than anything, my dream is to have a family with you. I’m sorry it took me so long to see the love we share will help overcome anything, together.”

DNF.

I don’t think this was the author’s intention but I couldn’t help but laugh reading this. The hero is written like he lacks balls and not the least bit attractive (aka a complete pussy). And the heroine is just…sad. He didn’t keep it in his pants while they were separated, but she’s always been the one for him lol. She of course did because she loves him. So does that mean he doesn’t love her?? 😂🙄🤣

This author only writes virgins and celibate heroines, I have now completely written her off. In this one the heroine did the wrong so I get why she wasnt with anyone, but the issue is even in books where the hero does wrong he still gets the pleasure of sex so it's a clear sexist double standard.

Second chance is my very favorite trope, but when it comes to a couple whose marriage has failed I’ve seen some done exceptionally well and some done not so well. I go into the first several chapters holding my proverbial breath to see how it all unfolds and which direction things are headed. It makes my romantic heart so happy to see the characters work through all the anger and grief, watch them heal and fall in love all over again, and see them come through the tough times stronger for having endured them.

I loved the setup of this one. Bishop and Abby fell in love at a young age, got married and knew they'd be together forever. Then tragedy broke them. Two years later Abby's finally ready to talk things through with Bishop, but he's not to that point. There's some authentic, unvarnished emotion in their story that was immensely touching at times, because these two have some really difficult experiences to mend and overcome.

While I liked Abby's character, I wasn’t overly fond of Bishop's. Not only did he and his friends hash through feelings frequently, which didn’t ring true, but I felt like there was a double standard when it came to his behavior versus Abby's. Here's a tip for any romance author: if you want us to fall in love with your hero, we don’t want to know about him with women other than the heroine. It doesn’t matter if he's not technically cheating. Mention it, sure, so we understand he's had other encounters. But don’t keep on mentioning it, don’t give us the “I slept with them to try to forget you" cop-out (especially not during the afterglow), and definitely don’t give us any details. There's a certain ick factor that can be difficult for a lot of readers to overcome.

Aside from that, there were many things to like about this book. If you’re a reader not concerned with what I’ve mentioned, I’m sure it will be a satisfying read for you.

Another amazing story from Boggy Creek. We are getting the second chance story of Abby and Bishop. Be prepared for a lot of emotions, heartache, and shenanigans from well-meaning friends.

Abby and Bishop were young when they married, but events happened, and they fell apart. They needed the years apart to put in the work to fix themselves. You never forget your first love. Is two years enough time to move on? Is the strength of their love enough for a lifetime?

I am looking forward to going back to Boggy Creek and meeting our next couple and catching up with our friends from past books.

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Kelly Elliot will sweep you off your feet in this heartfelt and emotional second chance love story. And while the cover speaks to the whimsical charm of Boggy Creek and the magic of the season, this story is also packed with heartache and healing. It’s a story that somehow revels in its angsty complication while somehow brings lightness and joy. Must be the magic of Boggy Creek.

She’s the One features the second chance of divorced couple Abby and Bishop, two well meaning and very much in love people who just could not find a path forward during a very dark time in their marriage. The source of their pain tugs on our hearts (and may trigger some), and now they are two very broken people trying to move on with a life they never expected to live- until they find themselves in Boggy Creek again, facing down their demons, and each other.

Oh man, these two have some challenges- understandable and real ones. And you empathize with them. I definitely felt for Abby more intensely- and connected with her more as a character. I loved watching her journey- her finding her path. And Bishop, well at times he was a struggle for me. His choices were justified, but the romantic in me felt disappointed and how easily he tried to move on from the love of his love. But both make mistakes- and communication challenges abound in their past and present. But I did appreciate how they start to evolve and mature into their challenges- responsibly to address them, and open up their hearts to one another again. And how they co-construct a path forward to find their second, and forever, happily ever after.

This story is full of contrasts-light laughs and angst, real joy and real heartbreak, and we have a bit of the seasonal flair thanks to the Wonderland Tree Farm. In the end, the angst and heartbreak blossom into a stronger and more meaningful relationship- and where better to discover it than the charming Boggy Creek.

I’m barely two chapters in but I can already see where this is going and after reading the Grip trilogy last week with sort of the same vibes, I can tell this one is just going to be trash. Am I insensitive to what this heroine went through? I don’t know.. I just can’t see myself reading about this and how the heroine just up and leaves her husband, who she has been with since they were 14, when just last week I read one of the strongest love stories ever.

I absolutely love these covers and at this point, they are the only reason to pick up her books. But every time I try one, I am disappointed.

She's the One is the third book in the Boggy Creek Valley series by Kelly Elliott. And if you have read the previous books in this series you have already meet Bishop and Abby. Their story is the perfect second chance romance. they were married but something terrible sad happened to them and they grow apart making them get a divorce even though they never stop loving each other. Abby moves to Chicago so she can put space between her and Bishop.

Fastfoward in the present when Bishop thinks he can start his life over again when Abby come back to Boggy Creek she is doing so much better after the terrible lost that they had and she is hoping Bishop can listen to her reasons for moving to Chicago, but she finds that Bishop is ready to start dating serious again and that makes her feel sad.

When Bishops heard that she is back she is so angry that she doesnt want to listen or see her because is too much for him. But he cant denied his feeling for her for long.

This is the beautiful story about a couple who was to overpass a really difficult lost together but that they find each other again because their love was never gone and they have to be honest to each other so they can have their HEA.

This series is just so beautiful and i'm so excited to read the next book in this series. Kelly writes beautiful romances.

I’ve been obsessed with this series from the beginning. I’ve been super intrigued about Abby and Bishop’s story as it’s been eluded to in previous books. She’s The One brought all the feels in this second chance romance. I’m 1000% hooked on soul mates and love that’s never ending. Bishop and Abby have this chemistry that’s addicting. No one in their vicinity can deny these two are meant to be together. Once they can both heal from past traumas, their love is unstoppable.

Reading their story brought happy tears and my heart nearly burst for their second chance to make their love a forever romance story. Kelly Elliott knocks it out of the park with her fantastic writing and I love revisiting friends from the past stories. I can’t wait for the next two books!!

This was such a sweet emotional second chance romance. Bishop and Abby were high school soul mates and got married right out of high school. After they lost their first child early in the pregnancy the grief of the loss made Abby feel like she had to leave town and him.

When she comes back to town 2 years later after the divorce to try to tell him that she never stopped loving him, he is dating someone.

This book gave me all the feels.

There was so much heartache and reconciliation. I love second chance romance. When you make a choice, realize it's a mistake but it feels like you can't turn back.

I love the large warm girl group that just brought Abby back in even though she left them too. And I need a girls night like that lol.

It was fun with the Christmas tree farm and the flower farm and apiary. That property sounded amazing!

I really want to read Arabella and Hunters story!

Reading the synopsis of the first two I love how complicated and real they sound. There are so many issues married couples, single mother/father's and in other relationships and all in this small town. I loved those couples in this book.

Thank you @authorkellyelliott and @greyspromo for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

This is a second-chance romance set in the swoony, heartfelt world of Boggy Creek and I absolutely adored Abby and Bishop. She's the one is a perfect roller coaster of emotions with all the spicy moments, small-town feels, a mix of love, a side of hurtful moments and all the feels! Pick this book up if you like second chance romances set in small towns. You will not be disappointed.

I didn’t read the first two books where I’m sure a lot of the angst from the marriage dissolving took place or the great love the two main characters had for each other was told. Either way I didn’t believe it. The H who loved the h sooooooooo much just let her go then proceeded to become a manwhore. He even dated someone he bought he could move on with. But alas h came home

Shannan – ☆☆☆☆☆
SHE'S THE ONE is the third installment in the Boggy Creek Valley series. You can read it as a standalone without issue, but I don't know why you would want to. Each book is about a different set of characters within the town, but they are all linked together, and each book just builds upon the last. To get the most out of each book is to read in the order the author intended.

Bishop and Abby suffer a terrible loss that sends Abby on a tailspin. She's lost in her own head. She thinks she can never give Bishop what he wants. Bishop does everything in his power to comfort and protect Abby, but seeing him taking a moment to feel his own grief is enough to have her needing to get away.

Abby thought she was doing what was best for both of them. Coming back to Boggy Creek two years later is one of the hardest decisions she has to make. The risk of seeing Bishop moving on with someone else is almost enough to have her change her mind. Can she make Bishop understand her reasoning for leaving? Will he even hear her out?

Bishop never wanted Abby to leave. He doesn't understand what happened or where he went wrong. Seeing her back in Boggy Creek for good has him questioning every decision he's made in the two years she's been gone. Can they ever find their way back to each other?

Kelly Elliott does it again with this installment. I love everything about this one, the angst, the love, the humor, and the glimpses of past characters I can't get enough of.

I can't wait to see what's is in store for this small town and Hunter and Arabella!

Another hit from Kelly! While most of her books typically have some element of suspense or ongoing question throughout, this book is one of the few that doesn’t have any big mystery involved. This storyline is truly about a couple that got together young and ended up breaking up due to a tragedy where one of them felt they couldn’t continue with the marriage like it was. Fast forward a few years and Abby has decided to return back to town, recognizing that her feelings for Bishop have never changed. Of course, this is at the same time that Bishop has decided to finally let go of Abby and his feelings for her. Thankfully fate (and Kelly) intervenes, and Abby returns home hoping that she can get back her relationship and marriage with Bishop but also understanding that it might not happen and she will still remain in town and not run away like she did before. This is an extremely emotional book where the focus is more on the feelings and experiences between the characters rather than one particular situation. This was such a sweet book, and I can’t wait to see what happens next, especially since Arabella’s book seems to have some mystery involved!

5 star reviews She’s The One (Boggy Creek Valley #3) by Kelly Elliott

This is the third book in the latest series from Ms. Elliott and I couldn’t wait to read this one. This is Abby and Bishop’s second chance at love story. This was an emotional roller coaster of a read and one that ticked all the boxes for me.

Abby walked away from the love of her life and their marriage and it destroyed Bishop. Now she is back in Boggy Creek just as he has finally put the past to rest and moved on. I think the characters went through every emotion from sadness, anger, guilt, betrayal and so many more during this story.

I fell hard and fast for Abby and Bishop and could feel their pain radiating off the pages. Can they find it in their hearts to move on from the past and re connect? To re kindle the love they once (and perhaps still) have?

This is one couple that I was cheering to get their happily ever after. I freely admit to tears whilst reading this beautifully written story full of love and characters who are easy to relate to. A well written emotional story that brought out all the emotions.

This is the third book in the Boggy Creek Series and once again it proved to be another wonderful visit to the town I have fallen in love with. This is Abby and Bushop’s secnd chance at love and I really need to say this small town/ second chance romance at its best.
When Abby walked away from her marriage and the love of her life she destroyed the man she left behind and it’s taken Bishop up to now to move on. But just when he feels it’s time to put the past behind him the past walks back into town ……….
I loved everything about this book, it has the perfect mix of love, passion, drama and a hint of humour. It’s an emotional roller coaster that I was so glad I rode, it has wonderful characters that are easy to connect with and it’s set in the wonderful town of Boggy Creek Valley. No one writes small town romances quite like Kelly Elliott and once again she hasn’t given us one of the best reads of the year in this genre. I highly recommend this book and this series to all romance lovers.

I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I don’t know what it is about the Boggy Creek Valley series but I absolutely love it. From the second this book started I knew it would bring up all of my feels from beginning to end. Boy, was I right. Abby and Bishop go through such a roller coaster of emotions from beginning to end. I was quite concerned how this book might end, but thankfully my suspicions were put to bed. The connection that they have is undeniable no matter how hard they try to stay away from one another. This story and series continually shows me how much love and support all of these characters have for their group of friends. I love how integral the side characters are in every book. The bits and pieces of information we get for the next couple make each book even better. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the next book!

This is the third book in the Boggy Creek series and whilst it can be read as a standalone I would recommend reading the other so you can get to know the recurring characters stories.

Unlike some of Kelly's previous books there is no mystery or suspense in this storyline. The book focuses on the relationship and characters of Abby and Bishop. Abby walked away from the love of her life and she left Bishop with unanswered questions but now she is back.. I liked how this was written, all those unresolved feelings sometimes came out in angry words and actions. There is nothing I dislike more when I'm reading a story like this than when everyone is all nice to each other it's not realistic. I want to see them play out the conflict I want them to vent and sometimes hurt each other just because they can. Kelly did that but didn't carry it forward to the whole story and so we see them talk about the past with the benefit of hindsight and maturity. The romantic feel that this author does so well and that I always look forward to in her books is still there as is the feeling of family and friendship.

5 Stars are not enough!! Once again Kelly Elliott takes her readers on an emotional journey filled with despair, hurt, anger and resentment. When Abby walked away from her one true love and within a year served Bishop with divorce papers, the two are both left grieving for what could have been. So when Abby returns to Boggy Creek, old wounds are re-opened. Can the two find their way back to each other? Or will the hurt be just too much to overcome? Within a few chapters the readers are falling in love with the characters, wiping tears off their cheeks and are privileged enough to watch new love bloom. A fabulous addition to a heart warming series.

This is the third book in the Boggy Creek Valley Series can be read as a standalone. I would like to go back and read the first two books soon. It won't take you long to get emotionally involved with Abby and Bishop. They were in love since childhood and married for two years until a tragedy tears them apart. They reconnect when she moves back home and he wrestles with his feelings. They are continually thrown together since they same the same circle of friends. The book is emotional and sweet. The characters are well developed and will grab your heart. I read an advance copy via Grey's Promotions and voluntarily chose to review it.

Oh Bishop and Abby! I loved their story! It was hard to read at times for sure but it’s a great second chance story. I could just feel the love these two characters have for each other permeating through the pages! And I love reading about this group of friends, these books can’t be released fast enough! But I have waited after the first one for two more books and I will continue to. This series has so many interesting characters in this small town setting that really makes you want more!

Bishop and Abby were high school sweethearts were married then divorced over a trauma she suffered. Fast forward two years later and she returns. The entire town and their family and friends are rooting for them. Bishop was hurt but he knew he still loved her as much as she still loved him. It was like watching a tennis match and at times it seemed drawn out but they eventually well more like Bishop came to his senses and rekindled that love. Their friends were the best and had some very funny moments. Loved it!!
