So it's essentially GMK Bleached with colourful black mods. Maybe you could offer just the mods for people that already have white sets. GMK black modi would have also filled the same role.

Otherwise looking good!

So it's essentially GMK Bleached with colourful black mods.

This is a very simple set inspired by the original GMK Monochrome

GMK Monochrome for reference:

GMK Bleached is just GMK Monochrome with white mods  ;)

Why not call the set Multichrome? “Colorchrome” translates to “colorcolor”, which doesn't make a lot of sense. The idea behind the name “Monochrome” is that it means “single color” (black). In this case, you're using multiple colors — ergo, Multichrome.

Edit: Polychrome also works, if you don't want to mix your Latin and Greek word roots. That being said, both “polychrome” and  “multichrome” exist as actual English words. I think Multichrome has the clearest association to Monochrome out of all of these options.

The color green is noticeably absent. Especially when put up against the Colorchrome logo on the deskmat which has green at the end.

Hey, yes you are right, the guy who does the renders has an older version of the logo, a different logo containing the 3 prime colors red, yellow and blue is also floating around. Here you can see how green originally were used in the set  :thumb: Green still might be an option, as we are also working on different kits. We have therefor not 100% desided on which version of the logo we will go with, yet. So any critique or suggestions are welcome!

Hey, you are not the first to make this remark  :) and it's just us sticking to a name we thought sounded fun.

Personally I did not buy GMK Bleached, I did buy GMK Black Modi though, and all other mods and alphas with CR base color, this idea started when I wanted to make a Monochrome version with my original GMK Monochrome alphas but with colored CR mods, and realising I had spent several houndred USD on buying different CR mod packs, and all the different nights sets from Originative to even try and get close to the look I wanted. The main thing that sets this set apart from all other mod packs though, is that we also have colored legends on the nav cluster, and each color follows the row  :)

Thank you, very glad to hear!  :thumb: I know you usually have strong opinions on kits, anything else you can see that is missing in the current main base kit? I know we need to add a 5 for numpad with a ¨nipple¨.

I do get what you mean, but I wanted to keep the theme of the black mods from the base kit, we tried a bunch of different setups, and landed on this as the best option, yellow on white is very.. neon-ish. So we decided to just change yellow to red(as we think it looks amazing on the crispy white ws2 background), and replace the red from basekit with green to get some green in.

But you never know! I am taking feedback on everything as we go  :thumb:

:D Yeah, I'm sorta “known” for my strong opinions on kitting. It's always done with the good of the set in mind, though.
Honestly, the kits here look pretty good, I'd be hard pressed to find anything major that's wrong. There's only a few small things that I would change (some of this is nitpicking):
  • The biggest one is that I'd drop the mod-colored R1 1u \|. See here.
    • This also means dropping the the green-legend R1 1u \| from the white mods kit.
  • A second 2.25u Shift would be nice to have for 660 support.
  • This is down for personal preference, but consider using Super or System/Sys (molds exist) instead of Code.
    • Namely, I don't like how you get a repeated capital C in Control, Code. Together with Caps, it makes the left side of the board feel a bit too C-heavy, if that makes sense.
    • Code in and of itself doesn't make much sense as an OS/system key legend, in my opinion. See here and here.
    • I get to have those System/Super keys that I never got in Monochrome :thumb:
  • I think using Fn instead of Tab for the R3 1.25u 40% key might be a tad better since it's more versatile. I'm not a 40% user myself, but I've seen people ask for this before. Apparently not everyone uses Tab in that spot, and Fn is more generic. 40% users, please correct me if I'm wrong.
  • Are the R1 yellow PgUp, Home keys intended for 1800/CP support? Cause that's already covered by the red ones. If you want the keys above the numpad to be yellow, you should also add yellow R1 PgDn, End; otherwise, the keys are going to go: red–yellow–red–yellow.
  • You might want to consider removing the numpad 00 key. Not commonly seen nowadays.

Can we have a discord channel for this as well! This is the first GMK set I want to get in on. Love the Text Mods, the bleached WS2 alphas (together with those bleached mods as well). Already filled out the IC. Looking forward to the GB. Any novelties would be cool.

Thank you very much for the feedback! :)

We are working on a 40s/small spacebars kit with regards to Fn instead of tab r3 1,25u

The R1 PgDn was intended for certain 75%, where people want pg up on the top. Not for 1800, 1800 should be covered as far as I know? I have gone over most common layouts I think?

The numpad 00 key I might consider replacing with the 5 with "bump"

I also removed the 6u spacebar, as I dont really think 660 support is warranted, these days most 660s also have support for 6,25 and split shifts, atleast that was my original thought process. I might consider adding this again. Both keys were originally included, but I wanted to trim down the huge basekit.

Aaand, unfortunately, I think Code is here to stay, it is my favourite legend. But, will have it up for consideration.

Alright, that should take care of it.

The R1 PgDn was intended for certain 75%, where people want pg up on the top. Not for 1800, 1800 should be covered as far as I know? I have gone over most common layouts I think?
I really don't think this is common enough to warrant including those keys. I don't think I've ever seen a layout like that in actual use (please prove me wrong if you have), and either way, it's limited to 75% keyboards without top row blockers, which are becoming less popular.

The numpad 00 key I might consider replacing with the 5 with "bump"
The existing numpad 5 key appears to be barred, so you may want to consider making the second one scooped.

I also removed the 6u spacebar, as I dont really think 660 support is warranted, these days most 660s also have support for 6,25 and split shifts, atleast that was my original thought process. I might consider adding this again. Both keys were originally included, but I wanted to trim down the huge basekit.
Fair enough. Although, 6u isn't used just on 660 boards, but also 60% and 75% (e.g. 7V). As for 660s, I don't think many people use split Shifts from what I've seen, at least as far the most recent 660 boards go (primarily looking at the Volcano660 Discord, but also recent Clueboards, plus FC660M/Cs are still popular). I personally use both split Shifts on my Volcano, but that isn't common by any means.

Aaand, unfortunately, I think Code is here to stay, it is my favourite legend. But, will have it up for consideration.

Hey Konstantin,

I have been thinking about this for a while, and realised a mod colored \| is something I need on most of my TKLs that I build with split BS, without it I have to use a spare key from the nav cluster to double up with them. IMO it is needed for the V(white alphas and dark mods) split bs creates. And for the white kit same goes there, its perfect for split BS TKLs with colored legends mods. I might consider putting them into the compatibility kit instead though :)

The biggest one is that I'd drop the mod-colored R1 1u \|. See here.
This also means dropping the the green-legend R1 1u \| from the white mods kit.

Usually in split backspace, the \| key goes on the left half, thus not being in the V shape. (as this is how the HHKB lays it out) Most commonly, the right key is either grave (`~) or delete.

Of course since you're the designer, you're well within your rights to include the key if you choose to lay your keyboards out in the other way.
