BYOMKESH BAKSHI VS SHERLOCK HOLMES || KNOWLEDGE BOARD

sherlock vs bakshi

NOVELS
I find Sherlock Holmes a work of pure fiction with personality being over-rated of the main character. On the other hand, I find Byomkesh Bakshi somewhat real with whom the audience can easily connect.
Since Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay was purely inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the characters are somewhat the same as the sidekick(Watson & Ajit), the villain(Moriarty & Guha) but the difference lies in the storytelling, the character sketch, the relationships, and the culture.
MOVIES
Sherlock Holmes (2009) & Sherlock Holmes: The Game of Shadows (2011)
Sherlock-Robert Downey Jr.; Watson- Jude Law; Moriarty- Jared Harris
Though I really liked the characters and the setting of the movie, the one thing that really bothered me was the climax & the mystery attached to the movies. I found them a bit flat with nothing new to offer maybe because of the hopes attached to it or otherwise.
Detective Byomkesh Bakshy(2015)
Byomkesh Bakshi- Sushant Singh Rajput; Ajit- Anand Tiwari; Dr.Guha - Neeraj Kabi
I should admit that this movie was by far the best mystery/suspense movie I have ever seen in Bollywood. I liked everything about the movie the characters, the sets, the story and a special mention of the villain who was more than awesome to see on the screen. I also really liked the idea of the movie that it slowly became bigger and bigger with more twists and turns as the normal case of missing father gradually turned into a mysterious case of a national conspiracy.
