Looking for a River Cottage Wedding Photographer?

Are you planning a River Cottage wedding and looking for a wedding photographer who can match your rustic, boho wedding style perfectly? Photographing weddings is my absolute joy at any time and at any venue, but some wedding venues top my list. I am honoured to invited to photograph weddings all over Europe, and even further afield, but sometimes a wedding in my own sweet country is as exotic as they come. This River Cottage HQ Wedding was one such wedding. I mean, how many weddings have a wellie-throwing contest in the middle of the day?!

Why choose River Cottage HQ Wedding Venue?

I was utterly enchanted with The River Cottage HQ wedding venue charm, versatility, rustic beauty and stunning scenery. I mean, one look at those stunning East Devon Hills and it’s hard not to fall in love! I was so excited to become a River Cottage Wedding Photographer as this wedding venue offers so much choice as we explored around getting the most gorgeous wedding pictures, as well as one of the most adorable outdoor wedding ceremony spaces I think I’ve ever seen!

The wedding breakfast barn was intimate and rustic. The perfect location for exploring the infamously outstanding River Cottage wedding menu (trust me, I tried it- the food was utterly divine! We couldn’t have expected anything else really!)
The dinner barn was perfect for both intimate conversation and hilarious, raucous speeches. As a River Cottage wedding photographer, it was a dream to work with and I was thrilled with the wedding photos.

The grounds of River Cottage HQ gave us some stunning options and as a first time River Cottage wedding photographer I was not short on ideas! We explored all around, and every side of this stunning venue seemed to offer new beauty and lighting. I felt like a kid in a candy shop! The light was especially divine during this March wedding. Who knew March was such a perfect time to get married? Honestly, it was warm enough to feel like a summer wedding (which ironically often get rained off in my experience!)

It helped that Steve and Amy had the most incredible fashion and the light, pastel colours of their wedding outfits really helped enhance the light, pastel feel of my work. It was the perfect combination. As a bright, fine-art wedding photographer I was particularly obsessed with Amy’s pink embroidered dress. How stunning was that? I love an unusual wedding dress.

The location of River Cottage Wedding venue means it is perfectly placed to catch the stunning sunset too and I was riveted by the hazy, evening sun as it set over the North Devon hills. To be honest I think any River Cottage wedding photographer would be in their element, but my light, bright, fine-art style was particularly suited to make the most of such stunning lighting.

Becoming a River Cottage Wedding Photographer

My heart skipped a beat as soon as the adorable Steve & Amy invited me to capture their River Cottage Wedding and I looked forward to it ever since. It did not disappoint! Steve and Amy were such treasures and made me feel so welcome… not to mention that Amy was wearing one of my all-time favourite Needle and Thread wedding dress in subtle pink.  I loved Steve’s groom bowtie, the sequin bridesmaids dresses, wildflowers, boho decoration and of course that incredible, bridal, hand-painted ‘Mrs’  leather jacket – incredible! I also loved that Amy arrived at her wedding in a jeep and Steve arrived in the back of a truck! A rustic wedding doesn’t get more rustic than that and River Cottage was the perfect location for a non-traditional, relaxed, country wedding.

What Steve and Amy said about their River Cottage Wedding Photographer

“We just keep getting so many messages saying what an amazing photographer! We feel so lucky to have had you take the photos!

When we were looking for a photographer it was really important to found someone with a relaxed style and could capture the day in a natural way.

When we found SJ, we knew that we had found the perfect photographer!

SJ’s photography style is bright, natural and beautiful, we couldn’t have been more thrilled with the images.

I wanted to say a massive thank you for photographing our wedding, you were truly amazing we couldn’t have asked for more.”
