Law enforcement in Seneca are searching an area where partial human remains were found this week near a residence and creek.

A homeowner on Asbury Drive called police Monday after his dog found a large bone, which was later determined to belong to a human female, according to a press release from Seneca police.

According to the Oconee County Coroner's Office, the individual was about 5'1" to 5'7" and was 25 to 45 years old.

Police then searched the area with cadaver dogs. They expanded the search area Wednesday with more people and equipment, police said.

Police found more partial remains Wednesday around a creek near Sherwood Drive and Robinhood Drive.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is assisting in the search.

"A specimen will be submitted to the SLED laboratory in an attempt to collect DNA to be used for identification and to compare to known missing persons, including the two recently reported missing women from Oconee County," a press release from the coroner's office stated.
