Story
Over the past year I have become more aware of, and touched by, a number of people that have been affected by childhood cancer. The children themselves, bravely fighting the effects of the disease, and often the effects of the treatment itself, and inspiring others in their fight. I have become one such inspired.
Then there are the anxious families, friends, and healthcare workers themselves who fight daily in their search for, and delivery of, new treatments and do so with such care and compassion.
Over the past year I have become more closely aware of three young boys, all under the age of five who have been on the receiving end of this care, and the search for organ donors if possible, alongside skilled medical and human interventions. Sadly one child did not make it through this particular journey, but his memory inspires that journey to continue for others. The other two are at various stages of care, treatment, and remission.
The main benefactor is a charity which assists workers in the frontline of NHS hospitals in the fight to give hope to those affected by childhood cancers. They also support the emotional and psychological trauma of children and families involved. That fight is made more difficult currently by the current coronavirus outbreak across the world.
Beginning tomorrow, June 1st, I will be hoping to walk 480 miles, across the ancient pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella in Northern Spain via a virtual route mapping app which is now in place. It feels like a long way, but compared to the journey which some are currently walking in relation to the effects of childhood cancer, it is a willing step.
A small proportion of any funds raised will also be divided amongst community projects sadly affected by the current coronavirus climate.
Please do give, and share greatly, if you are able, and let's together make a huge contribution to the fight against Cancer, and the community effects of these current difficulties.

Thanks to all supporters, and those sharing this trek with others, which is primarily supporting childhood cancer charities. Steve Sheridan
Steve's recently been moved by 3 families experiencing childhood cancer making him aware of the pain involved in the journey to find a cure. Sadly, for one family this wasn't possible. He hopes that his steps walked can help other children and families take more steps forward.
