I'm always looking for that special coffee place with character..and I think I've found it at book and kitchen.
Do you know what I mean? That cool little neighbourhood hangout that offers something unique without that awful artificial sweetener aftertaste that you get at most corporate coffee chains.
Garden cafe? Check. Gorgeous bespoke armchairs to sit and read curated books? Check. Delicious affordable salads? Check. Live music space? Check. Infact; check check check.
You cannot pass by Portobello Market without passing by this hidden gem. Amazing service, food and most importantly of all, amazing books.

It's time to get back into the reviewing saddle - it's taken ages for my Qype profile to make its way over, and this is my first ever Yelp review ... and I'd like to dedicate it to my current favourite neighbourhood cafe.
We were talking about Book and Kitchen only this evening and how happy we (that's long-standing West London locals who have seen some amazing places come and go over the years) are to have a good reason again to make the trip down All Saints Road.
Book and Kitchen does exactly what it says on the blackboard outside ... it is a book shop with a downstairs kitchen. The mixed salad platters are a real treat for lunch, all homemade and delicious. And rather than having a choice of bland American barista slang beverages, here you have a choice of beans to match your taste and mood.
Since discovering this gem I have been to book launches and a Carnival movie night, and look forward to discovering some music in the intimate settings of the shop - the list of events is well worth checking out.
Still a bit of a secret, but one I am happy to share here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sam M.London1512184 Oct 2015
Gorgeous coffee. Beautiful venue. Really friendly atmosphere. What's not to like? The pistachio based cakes are truly special. Sublime and effortless food. It's difficult to find something quite so special and unique in such an ostentatious part of London but it's possible!
