Propagate inks distribution deal with Nitro Circus

Los Angeles-based prodco and distributor Propagate has inked a deal with sports entertainment brand Nitro Circus to handle the international distribution of its series and specials.

Propagate will debut the Nitro Circus catalogue at MIPCOM in October.

The programs from Nitro Circus that Propagate will represent include Nitro Circus Crazy Train, Nitro Circus Live and Nitro World Games: All Access.

The catalogue also features six documentaries: Revolution Day: The Chase for the Biggest Trick in Action Sports HistoryRoad to the Unthinkable: The Quest for the First Motorcycle Triple BackflipBiggest Week in Action SportsNever Say Can’t: The Bruce Cook StoryNever Say Can’t – Festival Cut, and Nitro World Games: Rewind.

“Travis Pastrana and the Nitro Circus team have produced a collection of high-energy content featuring action sports stars from across the globe,” said Cyrus Farrokh, president of Propagate International, in a statement. “The Nitro Circus catalogue will fit nicely with our growing portfolio, appealing to that desirable and hard to reach young male audience that broadcasters worldwide are targeting.”

Channel 5 VOD My5 now offers content from Blaze

UK pubcaster Channel 5’s video-on-demand platform My5 will now offer content from A+E Networks UK free-to-air entertainment channel Blaze.

This deal marks the first time a commercial UK public service broadcaster has provided a branded presence for another UK broadcaster on its on-demand platform.

My5 viewers can now access a variety of Blaze content, including such shows as Swamp People (pictured), Pawn Stars, Forged in Fire and Billy the Exterminator. The content is available on the My5 website, iOS and Android devices and Samsung Smart TVs, with further platforms to follow shortly. Blaze content on My5 will be updated every month.

My5 also houses programming from across the Channel 5 family including Channel 5, 5STAR, 5USA and Spike.

Royal Television Society commemorates 90th anniversary with nine new fellowships

To commemorate the Royal Television Society’s (RTS) 90th anniversary, the UK forum for television and related media has awarded nine new fellowships for those who have made an outstanding contribution to the industry.

The new fellows are: Dan Brooke, Channel 4’s chief marketing and communications officer and diversity champion; Anne Bulford OBE, deputy director-general of the BBC; screenwriter and television producer, Russell T Davies; Gary Franses, head of live events at Sunset+Vine; Sara Geater, COO at All3Media Group; Mike Gunton, creative director, BBC NHU and factual at BBC Worldwide; John Hardie, chief executive of ITN; Irish television comedy writer and director, Graham Linehan and British television writer, producer, director and novelist, Jed Mercurio.

“To mark the Society’s 90th anniversary we thought it was fitting to celebrate the incredible talent working in our industry today – those who have had a huge impact on broadcasting and have helped to drive it forward and define its future,” said Theresa Wise, CEO of the Royal Television Society, in a statement. All of those selected have done just this and I am truly honored to be awarding them with a RTS Fellowship.”

RTS has over 4,000 full members and is supported by UK broadcasters, producers and consultants including principal patrons BBC, Sky, Channel 4 and ITV.
