PC "Roleplay" Server (20-30 Slots) Looking for interested people *More infos in Thread*

Hey ladies and gentlemen,

as there aren't that many Germans on this forum, I'll try it in English:

I thought it would be cool to open an "Roleplay" Server for Terraria with about 20 to 30 slots.

My thoughts are:
- Everyone gets a place to build (Plot), in which you can build whatever you want (in medieval / fantasy style and nothing offensive) size: about 150 blocks
- The plot will get marked, so everyone has the same size. (you can choose the location)
- There will be big projects, which we build all together, like a general spawnpoint or different mob / boss farms, custom biomes

- The important bossfights (like Wall of Flesh, Skeletron, ...) will be arranged, so we won't be in hardmode whilst someone's still got a copper armor
- Everyone chooses a class he plays (ranger, melee, wizard or summoner) which you should keep
- Everyone chooses a role (for ex. thief, paladin, knight) what defines the roleplay behavior and the appearance of your character - You can choose what ever you want, as long as it is medieval

When we've got enough interested Terrarians (about 15, but I'd prefer more), i'll rent the first month. After this month I'd be happy if you could donate a little bit to keep the server running (it's totally up to you):)

What is a little? :)

I noticed your earlier post which was in German. Will the language used be English or will German be used as well? (Your English is absolutely fine by the way.)

What is the goal of these roles? For example, what if someone is a thief: Will he go around stealing other people's stuff? What does a paladin do? Or do you want everyone to talk to eachother in character?

You don't need to donate, a little means, you can donate just as much as you want, it's totally up to you :)
I just wanna have fun with other people on this server ;) And if something is fun, I have no problems spending money into it^^

Now as i posted the thread in English, the language will be english aswell. When I'd "allow" both languages, it would be kinda unfair, as almost every German can speak english, but the other way round the fewest can speak german.

The main "goal" of your role is your appearance and maybe the design of your house. So everyone can say "Hey it's 'Gotcha' the Thief!".
I think stealing other peoples stuff isn't the best solution ;) When you decide doing it you should be prepared for an counterattack.
But maybe the thief can steal something from other people, leaving a sign which tells the owner what he want him to do to get his stuff back ;)
I mean it's totally up to you what you'll do out of your role (as long as it doesn't end at massive destruction, or other bad stuff)

Yeah, stuff like that (griefing) would annoy me greatly, so you won't see me stealing or destroying anything anytime soon. I hope the rest will agree. :p

One more question though: How do you handle items? Is it allowed to bring in items from other worlds if your generated world proves not to have enough of a specific item around?
For example: Water Walking Boots. They're pretty rare and you can most likely not find a pair for everyone. What I usually do is allow people to bring in this item, but only after at least one of us found them.

I think I'll enjoy joining your server, but I have to ask a friend first. We half-planned to play the game. Maybe she wants to join as well or maybe she prefers solitude.
I'll get back to you asap. :)
 
I'd definitely be interested in joining a server like this if it's able to get up and running. :D
 
I would love to join, but I am actually 12... Also a can only play for an hour a day. I wouldn't grief, but it's up to you as to if I can join

Yeah i think I'll allow bringing items AT OUR STAGE OF THE GAME to the server when it's hard or impossible to get them (only items which you can get out of chests, monster drops are not included)
As I said I we need to trust each other^^

So I have some ideas... You can veto them if you want.
First, what about being a bounty hunter? You could have people "pay" you, then go get a requested item form a new world you create. Like killing the eater of worlds early to get some weapon for them. Just so it's not as OP, you can't get something like the eow pick axe and have them skip that tier.
Also, what about a trader? You could get stuff from a new world and trade with it.

That's basically a cheap way to get items from other worlds in when we wouldn't have earned them yet. Sounds like a bad idea to me.

You mean your class or your role? class: I'd recommend the mage, but it's totally up to you^^ role: There are soo many different roles you could choose from, as long as it is medieval your totally free choosing one ;)
I actually haven't thought about the size of a plot, but I can assure you will have enough space to build.
I'll think about a few things and when I'll find a solution I'll edit the post

The Server is going up when were enough players (about 15) otherwise it wouldn't make sense to start.

I was personally thinking melee for my class, but I don't know about role.

The maximum amount of players I played with are 4.
I just wanted to start something new, something with more people ;)
 
How heavy is the roleplaying for this server? Also, is this a dedicated server or are you just doing it through steam? I wouldn't mind joining in on this.

You don't need to write / talk in character^^
But I'd like if you'd wear clothes which fit to the role you play (not possible in early game :p ) and maybe build your house in the style of your role -> for example, if you decide being an innkeeper, you should build a tavern or something like that^^

If were enough players I'll rent a server for 30 days and after this we'll see how it continues.
So the server will be online 24/7.

No problem, I usually do that anyways :p

So at present there isn't a server up? How are you currently hosting; do you have a portforwarded server at home or are you having people join you through steam?
