Browns HC Hue Jackson’s Job Is Safe For Now

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Browns coach Hue Jackson’s job is safe, despite the team’s poor performance this year.

While Jackson is unlikely to lose his job at this point, Rapoport admits that other changes are likely coming to the Browns after the season.

“I’m told at this point Hue Jackson is safe, even [if there was] an ugly loss [today],” Rapoport said. “… But firing Hue Jackson now, on the plane home, as we’ve seen in the past, would be against everything the Browns are trying to do. Changes are expected to come at the end of the season in some form or fashion. But at this point, they are not expected to involve Hue Jackson.”

Most of the buzz regarding the Browns has centered around changes that are likely to happen in the front office.

One report mentioned that Cleveland has already been looking to add a football executive to their front office, as they’ve struggled to bring in talent, despite the bevy of draft picks and cap space they’ve had to work with.

Jackson, 52, was hired as the Browns head coach in 2016 after spending a few years as the Bengals’ offensive coordinator. Jackson has led to the Browns to a record of 1-22 (4.3 percent) since taking the job.

We’ll have more regarding Jackson’s future and potential changes for the Browns as the news is available.
