Texans OTAs: Week 1 notes and quotes

The Texans kicked off OTAs this week. Head coach Bill O'Brien and players spoke to the media on Tuesday. Here are some notes and quotes from the second day of OTAs:

O'Brien on participation:
"It's been fantastic. We've had 100 percent participation. Here and there, we've had maybe somebody's son or daughter was sick and they had to stay home or maybe they had to go visit somebody in the hospital, a sick relative or whatever it is, but they always do a great job of communicating with me as to whether they're going to be there or not. I would say 99 percent of the time, it's been 100 percent attendance."

Deshaun Watson returned to the field for individual and seven-on-seven drills. Here's what he had to say about his ACL rehab:
"My knee feels well. I'm comfortable to be able to go out there and throw and do some things on air and get the timing down with the receivers."

Safety Tyrann Mathieu has had a "smooth" transition from Arizona and says he'll bring his physicality to the Texans secondary:
"I take great pride in really every aspect of my game. Then, the physicality, obviously I have this little man syndrome so, being physical is part of my nature. It's definitely a part of how I play."

Will Fuller V on scoring seven touchdowns in four games with Deshaun Watson last year:
"We hit those plays in practice, that's why we were connecting in the games."

Whitney Mercilus was a full-go in Tuesday's practice after working his way back from a torn pectoral muscle last year. J.J. Watt was present but working out on the side field with trainers.

The Texans will hold a total of ten OTA sessions at the Houston Methodist Training Center, ending on June 8.
