MS students 13 for 13 at history bee

All 13 RE Middle School students who attended a regional qualifying meet in Palm Beach Gardens on  Feb. 4 advanced to  the National Middle School History Bee and Bowl, as Javi Kumar '22 won the seventh-grade competition and Leo Fein '23, the elementary (grades 4-6) event. [More]

Students hone diplomacy at Model UN

Thirteen students from freshmen to seniors traveled to Philadelphia for the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference Jan. 26-29, joining student-delegates from across the nation and as far afield as China. They made speeches, helped draft resolution papers and sought consensus during a weekend considered a training ground for young diplomats and politicians. [More]

Two Presidential Scholars candidates

Paul Kalandiak '17 and Delilah Lubarsky '17 were named candidates for the United States Presidential Scholars Program, which honors as many as 161 graduating seniors nationwide for their academic success, scholarship, leadership and service to their school and community. In April, the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars will select the winners. [More]

Upper School Art Show underway

The Upper School Art Show kicked off Feb. 2, showcasing students' works throughout the campus. Families and friends may view photography, ceramics, collage, studio art and "Earth Works" in the art gallery; ceramics and architectural design pieces in the library; RE landscapes ("Ranscapes) in the front office foyer; and photography and studio art (Chinese scrolls) in the dining hall until the end of March. Five Raiders win first-team All-Dade

Five Ransom Everglades athletes in fall sports — volleyball player Aryanah Diaz '19, golfers Jake Beber-Frankel '20 and Phoebe Beber-Frankel '20, cross country runner Beatriz Ruan '17 and swimmer Kyla Valls '17 – earned first-team All-Dade honors from The Miami Herald. Another dozen claimed second- or third- team recognition and 30 got honorable mention. [More]

Girls' hoops falls short of district title

The girls' basketball team advanced to the district semifinals with a dominant victory over Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, but the team fell just short of its goal of winning the first district title since 2013. A day after avenging an earlier loss to Carrollton with a 42-24 victory on Jan. 31, the Raiders fell out of the playoffs with a loss to Gulliver. [More]

Sailors earn first in state regatta

Ransom Everglades won first place at the Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association's South Points 6 regatta in St. Petersburg, Fla., Jan. 28, topping 26 teams from around the state and South Carolina thanks to the efforts of two varsity boats: Shawn Harvey ’17, Delilah Lubarsky ’17 and Bernat Miro ’19 (A division) and Tucker Weed ’18, Alex Sidi ’17, Maddie Sharp ’18 and Anthony Kennedy ‘19 (B division). Students showcase summer projects

RE students studied stem cells, fusion, cocaine detection and autism last summer. They assisted with federal immigration hearings, taught number theory, and learned marketing. Others created art installations or did coding. The 4th Annual Student Internship Forum at the Lewis Family Auditorium Feb. 1 highlighted those summer projects and more. [More]

Grandparents brighten RE's campuses

More than 300 grandparents flocked to the Middle School in the morning and 200 showed up to the Upper School in the afternoon for RE's annual Grandparents' Day on Feb. 6. Students led their grandparents on strolls across campus and showed them off in class. Head of School Penny Townsend, Grandparents Day Chair Nancie Sturges, Head of the Middle School Rachel Rodriguez and Head of the Upper School Ken Mills provided the welcome.  [More]

More than 300 attend Winter Formal

More than 300 students attended the Winter Formal in the Quad on Feb. 4, enjoying a DJ, catering by Sushi-Maki and Azucar ice cream, and a live performance “Flotilla," a sophomore student band. Several students from that week's Booker T. Washington exchange also participated in the Winter Wonderland-themed evening. [More]

Baseball alums turn back the clock

Experience once again trumped youth as RE's baseball alums defeated a squad of current players by a 6-0 score in a game that featured three decades of RE stars. Thomas Willis '04, Alex Hyde '11, Toto Collazo '07 and Drew Hague '05 combined to pitch the shutout, and Jason Katz '06 drove in the winning run with a third-inning double.
