We held another Nottingham Forest weekly webchat on Friday, September 6.

Reds reporter Sarah Clapson was in the hotseat, answering your questions and responding to your comments.

And while it might be the international break, there was still plenty to talk about!

Sabri Lamouchi’s men went into the fortnight’s respite on the back of a seven-match unbeaten run, having made a positive start to the campaign.

They will be looking to maintain that momentum when the action resumes with a trip to Swansea City in little more than a week’s time.

Can they keep it going? Which of the summer signings have most impressed?

We answered your questions and much more on Friday, with all your burning queries discussed.

You can recap the webchat in full below...

Thank you as ever for getting involved, much appreciated. Sorry if I didn’t get chance to answer your question. But there will be another webchat next Friday, so do get involved then.

In the meantime, enjoy your weekend!

Thanks,

Sarah

And with that

Afraid we’ll have to call time on today’s webchat, folks. Time flies by, doesn’t it.

Off the top of my head, don’t think Yacob has made a matchday squad yet. So that would put him in the other group of players.

  • Share

Lamouchi spoke the other week about how the squad he is working with are the ones who have been involved in games.

  • Share

Can’t say for sure, but don’t think Yacob is part of the first-team group either.

  • Share

Answer

Hi Mark, pretty certain Pantilimon is not among the group training with the first-team squad. Lamouchi only mentioned Samba, Muric and Smith when talking about goalkeepers the other week.

From Mark A - on fringe players

Hi Sarah. You mention Pantillimon and Yacob - do you know if they are training with the first team squad or have they joined the remainder of those who knew they were not going to be picked eg Clough ?

  • Share

Can see why clubs are keen to keep that side of things quiet, although it’s something everyone else is keen to know!

  • Share

Seems to be the case nowadays that more often than not clubs are keen to keep that under wraps.

  • Share

Answer

Hi Chalky, just comes down to the clubs’ discretion.

  • Share

From Chalky - on fees

Why do some fees get disclosed but not others?

  • Share

Everyone from sport scientist to physios, nutritionist, video analyst - all play a part.

  • Share

Preparation is key, and Forest are making sure no stone is left uncovered. As Lamouchi frequently mentions, it’s the small details that count.

  • Share

Just goes to show how big an operation it is at first-team level now.

  • Share

There’s quite a long list on there, so would imagine a fair few of them are the ones you spotted in tracksuits!

  • Share

Not sure when exactly that changed!

  • Share

Answer

Hi JK, just had a quick look on the official website and looks like there’s a number of first-team staff now listed on there.

  • Share

From JK - on coaching staff

Any update on the make-up of the coaching staff?
Against Birmingham we counted 16 people in tracksuits on the pitch for the warm-up while Brum had 4! What do all these people do?

  • Share

Reducing the squad size was a big thing for Forest this summer, and they’ve managed to do that.

  • Share

And it helps reduce the wage bill.

  • Share

Still, good business to get even a small fee for players who hadn’t seen much football, though.

  • Share

Answer

Hi Kieran, don’t have an exact figure but don’t think it was much.

  • Share

From Kieran - on outgoings

Hi Sarah,

Any idea on the kind of fees we received for Cummings and Ariyibi?

  • Share

Would expect him to come back into the XI once back up to scratch. Such a quality player and can find that killer pass to unlock defences, as he showed last weekend.

  • Share

Elsewhere in the team, got Carvalho to come back into the equation for a starting spot.

  • Share

A nice problem for Lamouchi to have, though. Got a number of players who all bring something different and will suit particular games.

  • Share

All of them will have a part to play at some point, with injuries, suspensions etc.

  • Share

Shouldn’t be too long before Ryan Yates is back in the mix, too.

  • Share

There’s a lot of different combinations for those central midfield/attacking roles, with a few players capable of playing either/or.

  • Share

Agree with you, Bostock has done well when he’s played. And Sow made a big difference when he came on against Preston.
