Other Site Characteristics

There is one of the biggest in the republic raised watershed bog Dolbenishki (4436.8 ha) in the central part of the reserve, which is rich in peat with increased concentration of bitumen. This wetland site is of international importance. The sites of broad-leaved forests, old-aged spruce forests, pine and birch forests on the swamped land, the dystrophic lakes Osvyata and Dolbenishki are also valuable objects of the PNA.

4.2 Quality and importance

All habitats are characterized by a high degree of preservation, as activities involving changes in the environmental conditions (hydrotechnical amelioration, extraction of minerals, clear felling, erection of business facilities within the water protection area) are prohibited within the reserve. The territory is hardly available. The goal of the establishment of the reserve is conservation of the large bog forest area with the prevalence of raised bogs with the complex of plant communities typical for boreal bogs. There is a site of old peatery in the central part, where now the bog ecosystem is being restored.

4.5 Documentation

There is no management plan.Environmental protection measures and restrictions on economic activities are regulated according to the Regulation on the establishment of the Yanka Republican Wetland Reserve (Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus No 71 of 04.02.2015).
