“I let my inhibitions go, and they fell in the wrong place. I didn’t know he would be my unraveling. I didn’t know he was twenty-five.”

A single mother often lives by certain rules, and Angela Petrov has made certain to adhere to hers: Mom first, career second, and no man will meet her child unless they will be in her life long-term.

However, with her daughter now in college, the company she has worked at for over a decade facing major changes, and no lover in sight, Angela’s life has lost all its carefully construed and configured organization.

When news that the annual, employee, Labor Day party in the Hamptons will still be held, Angela tries to bail out. However, her best friend and coworker, Autumn, convinces her otherwise.

Turns out that, while attempting to enjoy the elite Hampton nightlife with her coworkers, she meets a much-younger, tall, dark, and sexy man who offers her an escape for the long weekend. So, throwing caution to the ocean breeze, she accepts his offer of a true time-out in life, focusing only on time between the sheets with no …strings attached.

What happens when you allow yourself to let go of life’s stresses, release inhibitions, and embrace desire?

You chase regret.

Part One - 4 stars
Part Two - 2 stars

Very smart and likable heroine. She won me over with her attitude toward her exes, who didn't respect their former wives. She broke up with the both a*sholes!
A woman after my own heart!

I could never see myself with a man who wad blatantly disrespectful to another {woman}

She had amazing relationship with her daughter, who was a very good and smart young woman.

As to the hero... Well, I could cope with him in the 1st Part, but he behaved unacceptable in the 2nd. Should it have shown his alpha-ness? I found him childish and irredeemable. What he said about heroine's daughter was awful und could have never be forgiven.
It was beyond the pale! I was deeply disappointed, that this intelligent woman forgave him without much/any grovelling...

I adore older women younger men storylines; they don't write it enough and I despise that this trope is often trashed (mostly by women!!!) in books and also in real life.

2018 and our society still judge couples with older females?! F*ck that!!!

I can't say I loved this book, but I definitely enjoyed some parts and liked how they played the age difference, even if it was very insta and the heroine doubted herself sometimes.

As a champ in holding a grudge, I didn't forgive the 'hero' for his tantrums and how he hurt the heroine.
I'm sure I am in minority here (nothing new *lol*), as a woman I would NEVER trash female and support male protagonist - not in books and not in real life!

Safe.

Age: she 40, he 25.
Sweet epilogue.

‘Love is the most beautiful illusion there is.’

We fell in love with M.J. Fields writing in Cinq A Sept, her characters and the story itself was fabulously addictive. It had everything we love in a great book, especially the -older woman younger man theme- which we find so enticing. There’s such a stigma when an older woman falls for a younger man. A stigma that just isn’t there when the tables are turned, it’s a stigma that is both unfair and quite frankly irrelevant. Sure, we all have views and opinions on issues such as age gaps, at what age and the consequences to the couple involved. Morally this should not be an issue between consenting adults and quite frankly it’s none of anyone’s business. If you think it – don’t give a voice to it, because words hurt as much as actions and really; who is anyone to judge? Age is a number only – not a sign of maturity nor life lessons lived.

‘Life isn’t a Facebook post or an Instagram filter; it’s all that we see beyond the screen and all that we feel without the digital cloud of judgement.’

When a woman reaches a certain age, parts of society are ready to throw her on the retired –out of action- pile. A woman who’s been married and had kids even more so. This is wrong and again shouldn’t even be ‘a thing’ in today’s society. So bravo to MJ Fields for celebrating life, strong women and romance with all the insecurities and emotions that come with it.

‘Be present.’

Angela is a single mum of 4o years with an ex-husband who doesn’t play much of a part in his eighteen year old daughter’s life. She’s a career woman who you immediately connect with as she shows such strength, compassion, and selfless vulnerability. She shows confidence in most areas of her life, except when it comes to a certain young man who knocks her out of her comfort zone on a weekend away with work and her world tilts on its axis. We were fanning ourselves at the steamy hotness and sexual chemistry, which was off the charts! On that note….

“I want to know who you are.”

Well, to coin a phrase…It’s all about the Bass! The mysterious and enigmatic, Bass sees a woman walking on the beach and he’s hooked. This tall, dark and handsome man needs to know who she is and he immediately wants her no matter what she throws at him to keep a distance. This luscious stranger may be fifteen years younger than Angela but it soon becomes apparent that he’s lived a life which has made him wise beyond his years with a maturity that matched. What begins as a whirlwind weekend of heat turns into so much more albeit rocky and quite dramatic at times. Oh, our hearts had a steady beat of Bass in it as we read.

“You just fucked up our lives…In the most perfect way.”

Oh, how we loved this sexy, swoony and at times angsty love story. So many surprises and twists we didn’t see coming with messages of the utmost importance all wrapped up in a hot passionate tale. Sometimes you have to let go of the restrictions you place upon yourself and accept those things that make you happy and fulfilled. Listen to the voice of your own heart before letting others twist its beat. Life is full of bumps and obstacles, how you approach them and move over them is what your life is made off and is what makes it interesting. If you’ve not picked up an M.J. Fields book yet do yourself a favour and add this one to your reading list!

Cinq A Sept was a fantastic story about a forty year old woman meeting a younger man. Fifteen years to be exact. What worked for me was the two protagonists. They felt so real and relatable. Their chemistry and connection popped off the pages. Angela and her relationship with her eighteen year old daughter was amazing and so beautiful. Her daughter Natasha is her purpose and her priority. How Angela thought of herself with a younger man was important and something that’s still relevant today. Bass! Oh my lord he was amazing. So wise beyond his years. How he cared and wanted Angela was truly intoxicating. He swooped me off my feet the moment Angela met him. He made Angela feel everything. Young and sexy not giving a damn what other people thinks. Together they enjoy the present and each other. It’s sensual, funny and honest.
Cinq A Sept was a wonderful surprise. Definitely worth a read. Bass and Angela are so worth it.

Hooray for the Blizzard of 2019.

Okay, so here's the skinny. This one had been on my radar for a while, and today, I did that little scroll thing on my kindle and it popped up so I inhaled it. I'm a bit ashamed to admit, this too, is the first book I've read by this author. Ms. Fields...you now have my attention!

Cinq a Sept was a deceptively quick read...in fact, I sat down and the next time I looked up 3.5 hours had passed and I was done with the book. *shrug* I mean, no harm-no foul, as far as I'm concerned! I loved the beginning and the ending but the middle was a bit muddled for me; There was some proofy bits and some editing things that I would have liked to have seen polished a bit, but really my enjoyment of the story hardly suffered for it. This story was hella hot... the main characters inspired, their chemistry magnetic and explosive; even the secondary characters were genuine and worked to the storyline, not detracting from the theme.

I don't do spoilers--ever, sorry! But, you know there's a playlist, it's cool, and the special bit because it's only thirteen songs, Spotify will hook you up to the Playlist Radio which will continue will 'Songs Like' those the author chose for her book, which is a cool feature too!

I highlighted ***SO*** many lines in this book... truly, so many. Let me give you a taste of Ms. Fields's brilliance!

~**~**~**~

Dance like no one is watching, because life is too short to allow yourself to let others' judgement impede on your joy.

I admitted I want you and, truth be told, Bridge, regrets are a bitch to chase.

Considerations are an illusions. Savagery is the default state of humanity.

Life isn't a Facebook post or an Instagram filter; it's all that we see beyond the screen and all that we feel without the digital cloud of judgment. It is evident that women are more emotional creatures, but it does not make us the weaker sex. It makes us so we think deeper, longer, harder, and it makes us so much stronger. We just have to own that and move ahead from the past that could weigh us down. Be Present.

My wish, my prayer....is to always have enough. Enough food in her belly, enough clothes on her back, enough knowledge to make her way, enough love to warm her heart, enough to never think she needs more, and enough strength to keep moving forward regardless of what barriers she has to cross, climb over or knock down.

*~~*~~*~~*

See? Wowsa... Anywhoo, if you haven't had the pleasure, check this one out, I think you may like it. 4.5 stars.

Firstly, I want to say that I did enjoy this book, this story. However, I quickly saw this was true romantic fantasy (not the genre) and it wasn’t at all tangible or realistic. It was a captivating kind of story, especially at first but it was a book of two halves even though the time span was short.

I had issues with a few things: occasionally disjointed writing style that took me out of the flow of reading, Joe/Bass’ personality transformation and insta-things with a slice of ridiculous (I mean, 13?).

Things I really enjoyed were the chemistry, the heat and the daughter.

I think this is a great beach book or a read-in-a-day book to escape from the world with, but it didn’t totally sweep me off my feet.

Cinq A Sept by MJ Fields
5 stars!!!

“I let my inhibitions go, and they fell in the wrong place. I didn’t know he would be my unraveling. I didn’t know he was twenty-five.”

I cannot believe that this is the first book I have read by this author and that is something that is going to be rectified pretty smartish. MJ Fields has effortlessly penned one of my favourite books of the year, if not THE favourite. I am a complete sucker for the older woman/younger man trope, and in my opinion, this is a trope that is not written nearly often enough, but Cinq A Sept is one of my favourites, on par with my other top read in this genre. I fell in love with this authors voice; the character connection was on point, the banter, the dialogue, the sexual chemistry, the twists and turns…PERFECTION. While I had worked out one of the twists, the rest…completely blindsided. I fell absolutely and unconditionally in love with these characters and this book. Absolutely adored it.

“So, take this time we have…and live like we’re just starting out. Because, honestly, age be damned. We’re clearly at a similar, if not the same place, in our lives, and that…means a fuck of a lot more than a number.”

Angela was a fantastic character, incredibly strong, a work-a-holic now that her daughter has flown the nest, but a mother first and foremost. Angela’s daughter is her life, and everything she has done and accomplished so far was for her daughter’s benefit. Now feeling alone, her daughter at a London Fashion College, Angela’s life has many empty holes, and for the first time in a long time, Angela is feeling it.

“A million questions that will never be answered are a million worries that aren’t necessary.”

Bass is one of my favourite book boyfriends ever, and I haven’t had a new entry on my list for many, many years. While he definitely had his ‘moments’ that were far from pretty, underneath that little blip was a man with a heart of gold, who wore his heart on his sleeve and when he loved, he loved hard. Bass was selfless, kept those he trusted close and did anything and everything he could to keep them happy. A romantic at heart with a less than stellar childhood, he made the most of the cards he was dealt, and he did an amazing job. Bass oozed sex appeal, had his alpha tendencies, totally swoon-worthy and much more mature than his twenty-five years.

“I like my women like I like my wine and cheese…aged to fucking perfection.”

From the first to the last page, MJ Fields held me captive, this was a one sitting read, and those pages could not turn quick enough the more engrossed in Bass and Angela’s story I became. MJ Fields crafted this story perfectly, drawing the readers in with a beautiful story that truly reflects that age is just a number and the heart wants who the heart wants. We do not choose love, love chooses us, and this is a mantra that many would love to live by. The chemistry between these two was electric, the sparks just emanated from the pages, and that sexual chemistry just oozed and oozed, and you felt everything. MJ Fields nailed those emotions, the conflict for Angela as she came to terms with the age gap and everything else that followed.

“I did not go through hell to find my heaven just to simply walk away.”

While there was a little cheese towards the end, I didn’t care one iota, it fitted with these characters and only gave me even more chills as these two characters navigated their way to a happy ever after. With some fantastic side characters that only embellished this beautiful story, there is something for everyone, and this will definitely be a book that I will read time and time again. Amazing job, MJ Fields. Read it!! You won’t regret it.

This book took me by surprise. I mean older women and younger man who wouldn't want a younger guy. Age ain't nothing but a number anyways. Love knows no age but the heart knows what it wants.

One glorious tryst was all it was supposed to be but it turned into something much more and once they let go of their insecurities they were able to see that this relationship may just work out. I loved how the story unfolded with them having a few days to themselves to discover their minds and bodies. Once it was up neither one could get over what they had.

I won't spoil it for you the reader because this is one roller coaster of a story that had me laughing at times and screaming at others. But there is one thing I am a firm believer in is the heart knows no age but love and this is what happens when two souls come together to share themselves with one another.

MJ Fields has written some of my favorite book boyfriends. The top of that list is pretty crowded with her characters. Well, move over boys, Bass is about to bust up stranglehold! What a perfect mix of confidence, intelligence, humor and s3x appeal! Bass oozes all that alpha maleness that will make you swoon and need a tall cool drink just to get through this book. And just like our heroine, Angela, you will forget that man is only 25 years old.

The book takes place in two parts. I will admit to figuring out the simple twist in the story. Did I see all the other twists and turns coming? No! Did MJ put together once again a story that will blow your mind? God, yes! And through it all is the message that love is ageless. Love the one you're with. Let your heart guide you and screw what society says! We are all worthy of love.

The story is enriched with wonderful secondary characters, beautiful locations, and strong, capable women. Some twists and turns and angst to get to the end, but ultimately a feel good story. Loved it all!

This book sucks you in from beginning to end. There is so much going on that you will not be able to put the book down. I loved the relationship between not only the main characters but the secondary characters as well. As usual I was left wishing for more spin-off books for those characters as well.

This book is all about love and showing how love truly conquers all. It may not always be easy, but it's always worth fighting for. We all have our pasts and our demons, but with the right person it's perfect.

Look up not down.

Like some, I found the first half to be really fun and sweet, but once the angst came in it got pretty dicey. There were some actions the characters took which were... not so great. And there were some weird non sequiturs that never got explained. It felt like the hero and the heroine getting back together just kind of happens. I don't know. I liked it fine, but it didn't quite work for me.

I would read a Natasha/Oliver pairing though, just saying.

Hotter than Guilt Free Sin and emotionally saturated with every sentiment possible, this fabulous, fantastic story just pulled at my heartstrings.
I had met MJ at Philly signing in 2018 and bought this book, previously titled Cinq A Sept.

description

It was always my "I need to get to it" book and finally I got a break rom ARCs and picked this up.
Lemme say this, out of all the legendary kisses on screen, if this book gets made into a movie (are ya listenin Hollywood!!) Joe & Bridge's kiss would top them all!!
He is soooooooooo oo sexy..Omg i became moist JUST by reading about him. His "Bridge-Brigitte" is a an older woman. he is younger. But does that stop him from flirting her panties off..no sirreee.
If he came alive and jumped out of this book, I'd take them off myself and hand it to him on a platter...he's THAT hot!!

"“Age be damned, and circumstances be damned. I’ll fight so hard for us that you’ll have no choice but to stop fighting against us. I’ll wear you down, and someday, you’ll be glad I did.” "

Bridge is a woman of substance, an accomplished career woman, a somewhat reluctant participant be use her age is a big hill for to climb. Which doesn't faze Joe at all.
They met in the De La Porte party weekend in the Hamptons and they want to make the most of it no strings attached.

description

“You gave me today; I won’t ask for more than you’re willing to give, as long as you don’t either. When this night, or this weekend, is over, we can discuss what happens next. But, for now, we’re Brigitte and Joe”

But hearts when they merge, strings get entwined till you pull one, you unravel it all!
What an amazing story to read. What sizzling, scorching chemistry that enamoured me. I had to fan my face many times.
I want me some Joe🥴😭
His maturity is a deal sealer.
Halfway through MJ puts in a mother of all twists that had me all slack jawed. 😮😲

"It was like devouring a romance novel with a love triangle and a twist you didn’t see coming. "

description

But it continues on and she manages to smooth all the wrinkles in their relationship in a truely mature way. Something I've never read before. No drama. No childish tantrums.
So get along, buy this book (IT'S FREE ON AMAZON) and come join the MJ fan club

Good Romance books that grab my attention from the first page until the last have been few and far between for me lately. Thankfully this was one worked for me because I was loosing hope!!

To top it off this is my first book by this author and I’m looking forward to reading the second book in this series of standalones.

I’m drawn to the older woman/ younger man trope and when this came up as a recommendation in a couple of FB Groups, I had to give it a go.

I must admit I enjoyed the first part of the book a bit better when they were Bridge and Joe and Joe certainly was mature beyond his years. But I went with the story and loved how it played out.

A single mother often lives by certain rules, and Angela Petrov has made certain to adhere to hers: Mom first, career second, and no man will meet her child unless they will be in her life long-term. This was a great read, the age gap is not normally my kind of read but I'm glad I read it, the story line was simple and engaging, the sex was very hot and enjoyable, but the best part was the characters while Angela was calm, responsible and enclosed, Bastian was sweet, caring, lost, funny and a real pr**k at times but that's what made them interesting. They all had a great chemistry together and it made this a really enjoyable read, I just wished it would have been longer.

**3 Blushes**

Angela is successful, smart, beautiful, has raised a daughter she’s proud of and is looking forward to the next stage of her life. The annual company party is the moment she decides to let go of the conventional way she’s lived her life.

Bastien was abandoned by his father. His mother then his grandmother are both gone. He was then passed around from foster home to foster home – until Maisie. She raised and guided, with love, angry and directionless young men kicked around by the system. He owes her everything. Bastien has now inherited the empire of the father who ignored him all his life.

Angela (aka Brigette) and Bastien (aka Joe) meet in the Hamptons. A warm summer night, a gorgeous young man saying all the right things and carrying the swag to back it all up. Sounds like a recipe for a memorable night to me. He’s so young and she’s a 40 year old woman. He pursues. She resists. Even if he is the sun and she is Icarus, Angela decides not to resist the rising attraction like a living thing between them.

“I’m being considerate. Considerations are an illusion. Savagery is the default state of humanity. I respect the woman you are, but I can only take so much. I can’t even f*cking kiss you knowing damn well that, when I do, there will be no stopping what happens next. And once I have you naked, considerations be damned. I’ll be greedy with the vicious need I have to make you come continuously.” - Bastien

Lord have MERCY! Cinq A’ Sept! Bas! I loved how it started. Angela was sassy and sure of herself. Bastien was oh so hot! It was all SO sexy, so swoony, so romantic! I settled in looking forward to a delicious read that could yield my next book boyfriend.

Then in the second half, it fell apart for me. The storyline became muddy and confusing for me. Unexplained red herrings, like why Alfred was acting so weird and brings up Chuck Palahniuk? Or Angela asking Bastien why he calls her Bridge and he never responds. Additionally, the characters made choices that didn’t make sense to me taking into consideration the storyline.

To me, it felt like two different authors wrote each half of this book. So much promise in her writing that I would try another book by M.J.Fields book but Cinq A’ Sept, IMHO, missed the mark.

What a truly amazing story. I could not put this one down. Bass and Angela start off HOT HOT HOT and it never fizzles until the last word of the book. This book is incredible. There might be years between the two but you would never know it. Bass is a man beyond his years. M J Fields writes their story with such talent. You feel the love these two people have for each other through her words. From the beginning their relationship was off the charts. Not just physically but emotionally and everything in between. I cannot say enough about this story. MJ Fields is outstanding. Bass and Angela are incredible together. Their aren't enough words to describe this story. You will fall in love with them from the beginning. Despite the age difference Bass and Angela were made for each other. They belong together. He never lets their age difference come between them. In the beginning Angela is nervous about it but then again she thought it was just a weekend fling. "Two people who just graduated college and spending their last summer at the Hamptons before they have to enter the real world."

What happens next is what makes this story a true winner and beyond 5 stars. It will be a story that will grab you from the first word until the last. Unable to put it down and keep you coming back for more. Once again MJ Fields delivers another amazing, phenomenal read. She never disappoints her readers. Always giving more and more with each new release.

Cinq A Sept is the brilliant new standalone novel by MJ Fields. This book had me from the very beginning & had all the elements to make it such a fantastic read. This is the story of what happens when a woman lets go of everything that’s holding her back and willingly gives into desire with a man who she’s wildly attracted to at first sight. She says: “I let my inhibitions go, and they fell in the wrong place. I didn’t know he would be my unraveling. I didn’t know he was twenty-five.”

Angela whole life is shaped by her role as being a very present mother to her only child. Her career has run a close second to motherhood, and she has just become an empty nester. She’s feeling uncertain about the future now that her priorities have drastically changed. During a weekend in the Hamptons for a work function she catches the eye of a younger, tall, dark & handsome, sexy man. Joe, as he calls himself, immediately names her “Bridgette”. Pursued by Joe she experiences a level attraction to him that she’s never felt before and she agrees that for a weekend they should give into their desires and escape from their lives. My favourite quote from early in the book is: “and yet, all I’ve seen since you walked by me tonight is you.”

Cinq A Sept is a brand new standalone by MJ Fields. Let’s just say this is a book that will give you all the feels from the minute you read page one right up until you see the words The End.
You will meet Angela Petrov a hard working single mother who will do whatever she needs to give her daughter the kind of life she deserves above all else even if that means curtailing her own happiness. On a working weekend retreat she never imagines meeting a man that will change her life in just a short amount of time.
Bass Josephs is a gorgeous younger man who has lived a life with struggles, secrets and heartbreak but when he sets his eyes on Angela he knows that life will never be the same again.
The whirlwind of their time together brings out all kinds of emotions, fear, uncertainty, happiness but can that last beyond a weekend. The journey that these two amazing characters go on is one that will have you reading faster just to turn the page to see where they are at that moment but in the end you are just hoping that these Amazing people find that HEA that each of them deserve.

Bass is one strong romantic gentleman. Angela is one strong well rounded woman. They meet in unusual circumstances. They have a wild ride. I could not wait to see where this couple would go. I loved there instant connection and there banter back and fourth. What an amazing story.

As I turn the last page, I feel both happiness from another amazing read and sadness that it's over. This older woman, younger man story was just plain old fashioned, no holds barred.. HOT! Angela and Bass meet at a Labor Day party in the Hamptons and share a magical weekend together pretending to be young lovers without a care in the world, until reality breaks their spell.

Truths and lies, miscommunications and judgements lead them down a rocky path, my poor anxiety was spiking wanting them to work things out. There was plenty going on to keep me on the edge of my seat. I loved how strong Angela was in raising her daughter and how Bass knew what he wanted and exuded the confidence to chase his own dreams and desires. I couldn't put this down once I started. Loved every single minute and was sad to say goodbye to these two.

I was fortunate enough to receive an advance reader copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Review by Lisa Kane

Very good older woman/younger man romance with a few twists as to who they really are thrown in. Angela's daughter Natasha is very likable and her ex-is a total douche.

I liked Angela's independence and her self assured ways. Bass-now this is not your average rich twenty-five year old-he is an old soul and once he sets his sites on Angela-well she might as well have waved the white flag.

Lots of steamy sex, a little mystery and an enjoyable storyline!

I don't even know where to begin with what to say about this book. It was a beautiful read that many can relate to, especially of they are older. Bass was the man I wish every woman could find and Angela was a strong woman who had been hurt by life. Together, they had an amazing story that at times was a bit heart breaking but one of dreams. Their chemistry together was amazing. Their story was not the cliché story of older vs younger and the twist in it I did not see coming but was needed. If I everyone could have what they had, then the world would be a different place. I would love to know if Oliver will get his own story because I think that there is more there for him but we will have to wait and see. I loved this book, like the others that Ms. Fields has written and would recommend this book to others.

I can't put it to words how much I loved this book. It was full of heat, passion, and drama. The chemistry between Bass and Angela was so hot, it melted the pages. I loved each character individually and together. I can't wait for more from this author.

It took me longer to read this one because life. The story was amazing once I was able to really get into it. This isnt normally my kind of read older woman younger man. But once I got into it I couldn't put it down. This book thought me some lessons I didnt see coming. 1. live in the now 2. never assume you know anyone 3. never let what other people think stop you from living your life. This is a must read you will love Bass and Ang!

I've read over a dozen of MJ's books, from YA to erotica, from tattooed bad boys to mobsters in 3 piece suits. This one sucked me in immediately and I could relate to a lot of it... my boyfriend is 13 years younger than me and I too have a daughter in college... Bass however, is in a league of his own and the kind of man every woman of every age can find herself swooning over. Like every book I've read by MJ, this one sucks you in with more than just a leading man who steals the show and all the panties, the humor, moments that make you say AH and of course the struggle and angst that lead to the ending you hope for make this one a slam dunk. Angela is a leading lady to admire, strive to be like and one you'll envy for the way Bass sweeps her right out of her red Lous. I highly recommend this read and don't count on sleep or bathroom breaks once you start because you WILL want to stay on this roller coaster. 5 stars, of course. ~ Kellie, Eye Candy Bookstore
