Activision Blizzard is not happy with a dog poop clean-up service named Call of DooDee

The publisher is looking into the dog poop company's trademark filing.

Activision Blizzard isn’t too happy that an Illinois-based dog waste removal company wants to trademark the name Call of DooDee.

The Illinois company has withdrawn its filing, otherwise known as “express abandonment,” which was received by the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Oct. 24. But the trademark was still published in the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s newsletter on Oct. 31. Activision Blizzard has filed for an extension to oppose it, and it’s been granted.

The extension was granted on Nov. 20, and Activision Blizzard has until the end of the year to oppose the trademark. It’s unlikely this will escalate further, however, given that the Illinois company has already filed to withdraw the application.

The company’s use of the phrase “call of duty” isn’t explicitly linked to the Call of Duty video game franchise, though Activision Blizzard appears to find it too close for comfort. The Call of Duty games do occasionally have dogs, but we’re not sure they want to be associated with dog poop.

Dot Esports has reached out to Activision Blizzard for comment, but had not heard back by publication time.
