Bills Signing WR Kaelin Clay

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Bills are signing WR Kaelin Clay to a contract on Thursday.

Clay, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2015. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was later signed to the Bucs’ practice squad. After a brief stint with the Lions and the Ravens, Clay signed on with the Panthers last year.

Carolina elected to trade Clay and a 2019 seventh-round pick to the Bills in exchange for CB Kevon Seymour. The Bills waived him in October and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Panthers.

Carolina declined to tender Clay a restricted offer, making him an unrestricted free agent.

In 2017, Clay appeared in 13 games and caught six passes for 85 yards receiving to go along with 27 yards rushing on three carries and no touchdowns. He also contributed 149 punt return yards and a touchdown and 52 kick return yards.
