Envoys of the New Data Economy: Ocean Protocol Ambassadors

Since we announced our plans to kickstart #ANewDataEconomy just over a year ago, we have been on a mission to find more ways to incorporate our incredible community deeper into the project. We have an unshakeable faith in the wisdom of the crowd, and we believe in empowering individuals around us to think critically and pitch in their expertise to build a stronger ecosystem.
We recently launched our Open Waters bounty, in which anyone can look through our code and be rewarded for making improvement suggestions. While crowdsourcing this knowledge and technical skill will be absolutely critical to our tech development, we are ready to take this a step further when it comes to building out our community.

We now turn not just to our core team to build the ecosystem around Ocean Protocol, but to our incredible community of thinkers, innovators, learners, and problem-solvers. We are excited to bring onboard motivated, curious, and interesting people based all around the world who are passionate about decentralization, challenging the status quo, and equalizing access to data for all.
What will an Ocean Ambassador do?
Everyone is driven by different interests, and everyone has different talents, capabilities, and schedules. Whether you have a couple hours per week to spare or if are even able to commit a significant portion of your time, there are many flexible ways you can pitch in. Remember: the Ocean team will be here to support you, every step of the way!
Some examples of exclusive opportunities for Ocean Ambassadors:
- Attending local community events and meetups
- Organizing Ocean Protocol meetups in your area, as well as hackathons and workshops
- Contributing content for our blog
- Speaking on behalf of Ocean at events near you
- Being the first to know about new opportunities around Ocean
- Getting involved in the conversation- answering questions and leading the community on developer platforms (i.e. Gitter) and social media channels
Who can be an Ocean Ambassador?
Anyone is welcome to apply as an Ambassador, but those who will be the best fit will have:
- A shared value of the mission and vision behind Ocean Protocol: Breaking down data silos, equalizing access to data, and kickstarting a new data economy
- An interest in the technology behind Ocean, as well as other components key to the Protocol, including Dapps, TCRs, blockchain, data science and/or artificial intelligence
- A motivated, positive, and self-starting attitude
- A curious mind & innovative spirit
Where does an Ocean Ambassador live?
Answer: Anywhere! Everywhere! From Lima to Nairobi, from Sydney to Seoul — we want your voice to be heard from every corner of the globe.

How does the Ambassador Program work?
At each level, you have a list of suggested tasks to complete. Follow the list or come up with a new idea to work your way through the program. Once you’ve completed the fixed number of tasks, you can level up!
