Assembly Elections 2019: Haryana records voter turnout of 67.97%, Maharashtra at 55.33% till 6 pm

Maharashtra, Haryana assembly elections 2019: Voting to elect Maharashtra and Haryana assemblies was held on Monday, The voting in the two states took place from 7 am till 6 pm. In the assembly polls, the BJP and its allies are seeking to retain power, while the opposition is hoping to turn the tide by taking advantage of any anti-incumbency. Bypolls were also held to 51 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha constituencies spread across 18 states. In Maharashtra, the 'Mahayuti' alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena and smaller parties is against the 'Maha-agadhi' led by the Congress and the NCP. The ruling BJP is locked in a contest with the opposition Congress and the fledgling JJP for the 90 assembly seats in Haryana. Tight security arrangements were made with deployment of more than three lakh personnel from state police and central forces in Maharashtra, while over 75,000 security personnel have been mobilised in Haryana. Counting of votes will be on October 24. As per the official ECI data, Haryana has recorded a polling percentage of 67.97 per cent, while 55.33% voting was recorded in Maharashtra.

Most EVMs not working properly: AICC general secretary

AICC General Secretary Avinash Pandey has said that most of the RVMs at many polling booths in Mumbai are not working. "We have set up this war room since 6 am. We are getting information from poll booths, mostly that Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are not functioning properly, these were changed at a few places," he said.

"We got complaint from Ramtek Assembly constituency booth no. 337 that if you press one particular button on the EVM, a different symbol comes out on the VVPAT. We have filed a complaint with the EC in this regard," he said.

BJP to sweep Maharashtra with 109-124 seats, predict Axis My India exit poll prediction
