Assembly Elections 2019: Haryana records voter turnout of 67.97%, Maharashtra at 55.33% till 6 pm
Maharashtra, Haryana assembly elections 2019: Voting to elect Maharashtra and Haryana assemblies was held on Monday, The voting in the two states took place from 7 am till 6 pm. In the assembly polls, the BJP and its allies are seeking to retain power, while the opposition is hoping to turn the tide by taking advantage of any anti-incumbency. Bypolls were also held to 51 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha constituencies spread across 18 states. In Maharashtra, the 'Mahayuti' alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena and smaller parties is against the 'Maha-agadhi' led by the Congress and the NCP. The ruling BJP is locked in a contest with the opposition Congress and the fledgling JJP for the 90 assembly seats in Haryana. Tight security arrangements were made with deployment of more than three lakh personnel from state police and central forces in Maharashtra, while over 75,000 security personnel have been mobilised in Haryana. Counting of votes will be on October 24. As per the official ECI data, Haryana has recorded a polling percentage of 67.97 per cent, while 55.33% voting was recorded in Maharashtra.
102-year-old casts vote in Pune, urges Maharashtra to vote
Haji Ibrahim Aleem Joad, a 102-year-old man cast his vote along with his family at a polling booth in Lohegaon, Pune in Maharashtra. Speaking with news agency ANI, Haji Ibrahim said, "I was admitted to hospital for 4 days but today I'm here to cast my vote. I urge everyone to come forward and vote."

Polling percentage at 3 pm reaches 33 per cent
In the first eight hours of polling, 32.81 per cent of voters turned up at polling stations across Maharashtra and Haryana to exercise their franchise.
While Haryana saw a turnout of 39.58 per cent by 3 pm, Maharashtra was No.2 with a turnout of 31.49 per cent.
