About this ebook

I never thought a pecker would get me in so much trouble.

I mean, sure… if you’re talking about a certain anatomical feature of mine that the ladies just love. Given my bachelor status and appreciation for all things curvy and feminine, I could absolutely see that. But a different pecker is making my life much harder than it needs to be.

My name is Ford Daniels, partner at the law firm of Knight & Payne, and my latest case has me wading through the finer points of peckers—woodpeckers that is. Specifically, the red-cockaded woodpecker. I swear, I can’t make this stuff up but that’s what the sexy-as-hell blonde chained to a tree told me this morning.

Her name is Viveka Jones and she is so much more than a pretty face. She’s got wit, charm, and razor-sharp smarts. Turns out my client is looking to bulldoze the red-cockaded woodpecker’s natural habitat in favor of a multimillion-dollar subdivision and the sexy attorney with legs for days (and days), just happens to be counsel for an animal rights group looking to put a halt to construction.

My client’s pissed, but all I can think about is getting Viveka across the table from me. And then on the table underneath me. Perhaps up against the wall. And then—

Well, let’s just say when it’s all said and done, I’m hoping the red-cockaded woodpecker isn’t the only pecker that gets some attention from Miss Viveka Jones.

Boy, I just love the way Sawyer Bennett writes humor and sexiness together. Many times throughout this story I just started laughing out loud. So we finally are getting Ford Daniels's story. Ford is the best friend to Leary, and a partner at the Knight & Payne law firm. Ford is a typical alpha male...good looking, great in bed and all around nice guy. He's not looking for any commitment, only a good time. Ford is given a case where his client, Drake Powell, a big time, rich builder is being forced to stop clearing an area for development because of the red-cockaded woodpecker, which is an endangered species. When Ford shows up at the site, imagine his surprise when a beautiful, tall, blonde bombshell is chained to a tree demanding the work to stop. Turns out this blonde is Viveka Jones, the attorney representing Justice for All Animals and Ford is hooked. The chemistry between these two was off the charts. So much so that they end up in bed together 16 hours after they met!!!! As Ford and Veka spend more time together, they both quickly realize that they really like each other, and not just the awesome sex they keep having. As things with their case against each other starts to take a dangerous twist, they both realize it doesn't matter the outcome, they only want each other. I just adored these two. I loved Veka. She was such a strong female, even after all of the things that happened in her past. She gave it just as good as she got it! Then there is Ford....damn that man is hot! Sexy with a side of sweet! Perfect combination in my book. Overall, I loved this story. It was so fun and entertaining.

Ford Daniels, a high profile attorney in an upscale law firm, is called to a construction site to help solve an issue. Upon arrival, Ford discovers a beautiful woman chained to a tree and a very upset client. It seems as though an injunction has been signed to halt construction to save the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker. Hence, the reason behind the woman chained to the tree. Ford's client, a sexist jerk, is beyond livid as every day he doesn't build equates to a huge loss of money. Viveka Jones, former model turned animal rights attorney, has dedicated her life to animals after seeing one beaten by its owner. Viveka often takes cases pro-bono or uses money she's saved from her days as a model to finance her cases. Thus, barely making enough money to pay the bills. She lives simply and enjoys what she does. As long as she has her best friend and doesn't have to see her mom too often, she's happy. After meeting Ford, she begins to wonder if her long suppressed dreams of "happily ever after" could come true.... I absolutely loved this novel! There are very few books that I read in one sitting, but this was one of them. Ford and Viveka's ability to put their competitiveness aside for the possibility of love was HUGE. This is the first novel I've read in the Legal Affairs series. While I didn't feel as though I was "lost" or needed more background information, I can't wait to go back to read Reeve and Leary's story! I enjoyed Viveka's witty banter, strength, gusto, and love. I also enjoyed Ford's experienced a Lamaze class. That was laugh out loud funny! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Sawyer Bennett is one of my go to authors and I was thrilled to be back with the gang from the Legal Affairs Series, in saying that this book can certainly be read as a stand-alone. Ford an attorney for Knight & Payne, he has it all,he is very successful, hot, smart, confident and he doesn’t like to lose in both business and his personal life. Viveka is also an attorney but at the opposite end of the scale to Ford most of her work is done pro bono and it’s normally fighting for animal rights and the underdog so it’s no surprise that her first meeting with Ford finds her tied to a tree on a site that his client is demolishing, threading court action to protect the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker who she claims is nesting in the trees on the site..... I loved both Ford and Viveka because they both turn out to be sweet and caring, as they get to know each and feelings come into play we see another side to Ford the side that will put his job and his life on the line for the woman he loves. This book is hot, funny, romantic and the banter will leave you smiling like a Cheshire Cat. If you are looking for a fun read this is a must click.
