Micro Business Expo

Micro Business Expo
The Campbelltown Micro Business Expo was held on Saturday 17 November with 50 businesses participating as stallholders for the event and over 150 people having attended the expo throughout its four hour duration. The event was an opportunity for small and micro businesses operating in the Campbelltown region to showcase their business offering to the public.

The event also had stallholders from local service organisations that provided support to small and micro businesses, covering areas across environmental sustainability, financial support and business support.

Following the success of the expo, Council will look towards organising the event again for 2019 in the near future.

Urban Icon Feature on Campbelltown

Campbelltown City has been featured in the latest edition of Urban Development Institute Australia’s Urban Icon Magazine.

The award winning magazine features Council’s General Manager, Lindy Deitz, on the cover page and outlines a five page interview Lindy discussing her journey so far, the future vision for Council, and the transformation that Campbelltown is currently undergoing.

Unemployment Rate Decrease in Campbelltown

Unemployment Rate Decrease in Campbelltown
The Campbelltown local government area has seen a sharp decline in its unemployment rate, with a 3.4% decrease during the one year period from June 2017 to June 2018. The creation of new jobs has been attributed as the primary source for the unemployment rate decreasing from 8.3% to 4.9%.

The Campbelltown LGA ranked amongst the largest falls recorded for unemployment rates across Australia, comparable against other LGAs including Wollondilly (NSW), The Hills Shire (NSW), Mackay (QLD), Redland (QLD) and Wanneroo (WA).

Ingleburn Logistics Centre is making a contribution to the falling unemployment rate, with the creation of 650 new jobs for the region, with more jobs set to be created in the future as
new tenants sign.

Handpicked: Annual Makers Market

Handpicked Annual Makers Market
Campbelltown Arts Centre will host its inaugural Annual Makers Market, Handpicked, on Saturday 24 November to showcase the arts and the crafts of the local diverse community of artists and makers from the Macarthur region.

The market will include a unique range of market stalls which will feature artworks, ceramics, jewellery, textiles and many more crafts, which are all suitable for Christmas gifts. There will also be workshops on offer which will cover different areas of arts and crafts. 

The event is a great opportunity to experience the local culture of Campbelltown, while also simultaneously supporting local artists and makers.

Golf Pro-Am Tournament

Campbelltown Golf Club Pro-Am Tournament
Campbelltown Golf Club will host its inaugural Pro-Am Golf tournament at the Campbelltown Golf Club on 22-23 November. Keen amateur golfers will be given the opportunity to play alongside some of Australia’s leading golf professionals in the tournament.

The tournament will include 400 players over the two days, with a total prize money of $25k at stake for the pros. There will be some other great prizes on offer for the amateur golfers.

Department of Planning and Environment Consultation

Department of Planning and Environment Consultation Session
The Department of Planning and Environment will be coming to Campbelltown later this week to host community consultation sessions to discuss future plans for the Campbelltown region. The sessions are a great opportunity for residents to find out information and provide feedback on the future plans for the region, as well providing input on future planning initiatives such as open spaces and parklands, improving energy affordability and increasing housing choices.

Department of Planning and Environment staff will be located at the outdoor dining precinct on Kellicar Lane at Macarthur Square between 12pm to 6pm on Thursday 22 November, 10am to 3pm on Saturday 24 November and 10am to 3pm on Sunday 25 November.

Dahua Parks Receive Council Approval

Tourism Taster Course
Dahua Group has received development approval from Council for its $7.7 million Maxwell Creek Oval project in Bardia’s New Breeze master planned community, following the approval received for its $3.3 million Ingleburn Park and the Northern Corridor project earlier in the year.

The Maxwell Creek Oval project, spanning approximately 12,000 sqm, will feature a large cricket oval, two full sized fields for rugby league and soccer, nature-based play area, kids playing area and facilities, picnic area, and a shaded BBQ precinct. 

Construction for Maxwell Creek Oval is expected to start in the first half of 2019 and expected to finish at the end of 2019.

Blue Ribbon Quality Meats Win State Awards

Blue Ribbon Quality Meats Win State Awards
Blue Ribbon Quality Meats, a local butcher shop based in Leumeah, secured two major awards last month at the annual Australian Meat Industry Council NSW/ACT Smallgoods Competition.

The business won the awards with two of its products, a boneless ham and a middle cut bacon, which distinctively stood out from the rest of the competition. Blue Ribbon Quality Meats was the sole representative from the Macarthur region for the competition and will represent the region at the national competition, which will be held at Perth in February 2019.
