A FAQ: who is Hollie?

I get loads of questions every day ranging from personal-related to writing-related and I thought I would compile a list of the most frequently asked ones with my answers. This is purely for you to get to know me better, but I can also direct people to this blog post every time they ask me the same question instead of having to reply to it a million times. If you have any other questions I haven't answered here, feel free to leave a comment or tweet me @hollie_writes as I am most active there!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. How old are you?
I am twenty, my birthday is on October 23rd.

2. Where do you live?
I am British and live an hour (ish) each way between Brighton and London!

3. What are you studying at University?
I am studying Early Childhood Studies - which for those who don't know can be simply explained as early years teaching. I work with children from birth to seven/eight years old.

4. What degree would you study if you didn't study the one you're doing?
I have always wanted to either be a teacher or a midwife. My mum actually really wanted to be a midwife but couldn't because she fell pregnant with me and she couldn't dedicate the time it takes to gain the training with a newborn baby. I love children and have always been fascinated by birth. So yeah, if this teaching gig doesn't work out, you might see me in your local hospital!

5. Do you plan out what you are going to write?
Not really. I try to write a few sentences on the chapter about what I roughly want to happen, but most of the time when writing I kind of go with the flow which works for me best. I find planning heavily what I want to write is quite restrictive and if I am in a flow, I'd rather see what ideas I can think of spontaneously that might work better than the preconceived ideas I already have.

6. How do you stay organised?
I'd like to think I am a pretty organised person. I am a to-do list maker and an avid one. I like to plan out my week and try to stick to it as best I can. I am happy to do a dedicated blog post on organisation!

7. What is your favourite book of all time?
This is so hard because it literally changes all the time. I have a lot of favourites and books I really relate to so I can't answer this, sorry!!

8. What is your favourite TV of all time?
The Vampire Diaries 100%. I watched that show since it was first aired and will be a life long fan. The bonus question is my fave movie and that would have to be Now is Good. That shit made me cry and I could recite that film to you.

9. How many siblings do you have?
I have 2 sisters and one brother, but my mum is remarried which means I also have 2 step brothers and one step-sister. (I know, it's a noisy house if we are all together).

10. When writing, what do you struggle with the most?
This is hard because I go through phases. I think feeling confident with what I am writing is my most prominent struggle. I compare my writing constantly and really read into comments and feedback I get. I guess you could say I feel a bit insecure about it. However, during the writing process, I hate, hate editing/proofreading the most. I am awful at picking up my small mistakes and I hate myself for it. It's a work-in-progress.

I hope this was useful for those of you who ask these questions and you got to know me a little more. If you have any more questions I am quite happy answering them so leave them below.

I love u all to the moon & back,
