2019-2020 Homeless Continuum of Care Program VISTA

Lake County’s Community Development Division supports vulnerable populations in Lake County through support of organizations creating affordable housing, assisting the homeless and creating welcoming communities. Nearly 1200 people in Lake County experience homelessness each year, Lake County staffs the efforts of the Lake County Coalition for the Homeless’ (LCCH) efforts to end homelessness through collaboration, capacity-building and system change. The coalition's nearly 20 member agencies work together to monitor system performance, identify areas for improvement and develop solutions. The VISTA will work to increase the capacity of this effort by developing systems that can be sustained by volunteers. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive expert training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program at Housing Action’s website.
