COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Softball redshirt junior Cayla Kessinger was named to Softball America's Shortened Season College Top 100, the outlet announced this week. Kessinger checked in at 16th on the list.
Kessinger was in the midst of a career year in 2020 before play was halted on March 12. She was batting .416 on the year with four doubles, two triples and six home runs. She drew 17 walks for a total slash line of .416/.521/.753 through 26 games.
In her return season from a right arm injury, Kessinger batted in a career-high 32 runs on the season – far ahead of her previous season-high of 20 from 2018. She was on-pace to match the school record for RBI in a season (Sami Fagan- 66, 2015).
As of the conclusion of the season, Kessinger was riding a 15-game hitting streak – the longest of her career and tied for the fourth longest streak in program history.
