The First Amendment & Academic Freedom

Professor Stephen Bates, Hank Greenspun School of Journalism & Media Studies

A discussion about What the 1st Amendment iS and What it isn't

Join us for a monthly engagement series that encourages discussions between first generation, new and junior faculty on the intersections of university life.

Enjoy hot coffee and pastries while you discuss academic and career interests, and consider the many possibilities for collaboration on interdisciplinary research.

The Intersection provides an opportunity for faculty to network, enhance staff development and build a shared sense of community at UNLV.

First Fridays

Are you the first in your family to go to college or earn a degree? The Intersection is looking for you.

The Intersection’s First Generation initiative aims to provide academic support, a welcoming environment and networking opportunities to first generation students, faculty, and staff at UNLV. If you would like to participate in this program, please fill out the application. From this information, we will be creating a directory that faculty, staff, and students will be able to use to make connections with other individuals that share the same interests.

To participate, please complete the First Generation Initiative Application

What's Up with the Prism Colors?

Visiting Assistant Professor of Art, Monica Maccaus, assisted in identifying UNLV graphic arts students willing to design an identity mark for The Intersection. Undergraduates Jonathon Estrada and Alain Datuin created the design based upon input received from The Intersection staff, students, and information provided to them about the goals, purpose, and mission of the center. The mark was approved February 2017.
