Fake it until you make it. That was the mantra Cori Dash chanted as she chased a big city dream. The more you tell people you’re on top of the world, the more they believe it – just like they believed the embellished image she sold them with her knock off designer facade. It wasn’t lying if the truth stood somewhere in the middle – and she didn’t get caught.

Dominic Blackthorne owned half of that big city…and a reputation. Rather than dispel rumors or show the world the real Nick, he let his own fake image run free. Until Cori Dash – the only person who told him exactly how it was, even if it stung.

When Cori is faced with her ex-fiance, now engaged to her ex-best friend, it’s game on. In her boldest move yet, she concocts her biggest lie to date by introducing the first handsome stranger that walks by as her new fiancé. Happy to play the part, Nick is already planning the fake wedding of her dreams.

You know what they say about lying – the truth always comes out – and it hurts. Especially when Cori finds out she isn’t the biggest Liar in this game, and she’s been out played.

Liar by Stephanie St. Klaire is a 2018 SSK Group publication.

Whimsical, cute, funny, and utterly charming!!

Cori Dash is a dynamo! She’s been through quite a lot in her life, but she’ determined to pursue her dreams and achieve her goals.

But, when she spots her ex-fiance with her ex- best friend at a planned event, she can’t stand the thought of enduring their gloating, pompousness. So, she grabs the first guy who happens by and introduces him as her fiancé. She made the right choice, it would seem, as this stranger quickly caught on, making the bizarre exchange quite believable. To thank him for being such a good sport, Cori buys him a drink, and then proceeds to talk WAY too much about her boss whom has yet to lay eyes on, and his horrible reputation.

Nick Blackthorne is richer than God. He knows he has a reputation, but after Cori Dash described it to him, it woke him up a little. Now he is determined to help her have the last laugh about being dumped by her fiancé for her best friend. To that end, Cori and Nick continue to pretend they are engaged. It’s fun, and glamorous, and quite heady for Cori. But, Nick takes Cori by surprise as she discovers he is nothing at all like his notorious reputation- but what happens when the ruse ends, and they must stage a ‘break-up’?

This trope has been done many times, in countless ways, but this may be one of the most romantic ‘fake engagement’ stories I’ve read in years. I am not familiar with this author, but after reading this short story/novella I’m feeling very motivated about trying out her other books.

The story is very light, despite Cori’s background, which is sad and infuriating. She’s a real pistol and I just loved her spunk. Nick… OMG. He’s a bit understated at times, but boy is he thoughtful, and sweet. He may be just a tiny bit stodgy on occasion, but he did crawl under Cori’s skin and mine too. The secondary characters add angst and charm to the story, especially those who help Cori in both good and bad times.

Novellas are hit and miss with me, as I have stated many times, but this one is fleshed out quite nicely and a true delight to read. It was a real mood enhancer and would be the perfect lunch break escape!!

I think Liar is the lightest thing Stephanie St. Klaire has published to date. I usually don't like millionaire/billionaire stories, but I was willing to try this one because I am a huge fan of the author. I'm very glad I did!
The story starts out with Cori just grabbing some random guy in the park and pretending they are together because, well, her ex and her ex-best friend are both just lousy excuses for human beings who need to be taken down a peg or two. Nick is surprised (to say the least) by Cori and her shenanigans, but quickly catches on and plays the role to utter perfection. (Did I fail to mention how sexy Nick is?) The lies just keep piling up as the book goes on and the relationships get more and more complicated.
Liar has St. Klaire's usual well written sexy times, humor and characters that you feel like you grew up next door to. There's even still a twist (boy does she do those well!) in this light romance. Glad I didn't let the rich guy keep me from reading this one!

Cori Dash has been living a lie right down to her name and knock off clothing and shoes. So, when she meets her ex best friend/ex-college roommate, Winnie, at an event that her company, Thorne Industries is sponsoring, the lies keep rolling off of her tongue. Before she knows it, Cori has roped in an unsuspecting male guest at the event and introduces him as her fiance. Luckily for her, Nick decides to play along. The only problem with Nick is he is THE Dominic Blackthorne, owner of Thorne Industries. Cori has never met him before and when she finally figures it out, it is too late to back out of their lie. What ensues is a lot of laugh out loud moments as two people get to know one another and fall in love. In the process Cori and Nick both get to one up Winnie and her fiance Phillip.

Cori is one of my favorite heroines to date. She is spunky, has no filter when discussing Nick to Nick without realizing who he is. She is creative, loves her job, but can also fake it with the best of them. On the flip side, she is also down to earth and cares about people. She will give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. Nick is simply amazing. He is hot, like totally hot, rich, successful, but deep down no one really knows him for who he really is, that is until Cori. With Cori, he can be himself. He doesn’t need to pretend to be something he is not.

By now you probably know I love fake boyfriend/marriage tropes. I love watching two people who may not have anything in common or even know each other that well get to know each other and recognize that they were meant for each other. So, Liar was right up my alley and definitely did not disappoint. I have come to realize that Stephanie St Klaire has a flair for writing laugh out loud scenes and creating characters I can fall in love with.

Liar is a lighthearted easy read with characters I instantly fell in love with. Stephanie St Klaire is a go-to author of mine and her stories are a real treat. Whenever I see she has a new book published I totally NEED to read it. I don’t even need to read a synopsis. If it has Stephanie St Klaire’s name on it…it is going to be mine.

I absolutely adored this book! It has humor, sexy times and a sweet love story that has you wanting for more!

Cori Dash is a kind and hard-working woman. She is putting together a presentation for a promotion for the VP position and she has no time for distractions. Cori is sweet and thinks of others before herself and has been hurt in the past. That’s why she throws herself into her job.
Dominic (Nick) Blackthorne has it all or so it seems. When he has a chance encounter with Cori at a company sponsored event, he plays along with Cori and her lie as her fiancé. He dislikes Phillip and Winnie just as much as Cori does. Now that the lie is out there, it snowballs and everyone gets caught up in it. How much is fact and how much is fiction? You are going to have to read it to find out!

This novella had me from the start and I couldn’t put it down. The characters are developed and I fell in love with them. The secondary characters are terrific as well. I am really hoping more comes out of this novella, a full-length novel perhaps? Take a chance on Liar, you won’t regret it!

Is the facade more important than the person underneath? Liar is a true gem. Ms. St. Klaire uses humor and heart to deliver a message of powerful self - worth. We all have struggles to face, but obstacles have a way of destroying how we view ourselves. The truth has a tendency to get lost in the shuffle. Dominic and Cori are not perfect, they're human and both author and characters use that as a stepping stone to encourage living our own truths. Inspiration can be found in the most unexpected of places. Liar is evidence of that.

Did you read that synopsis? I mean come on!! Gimme more fake everything please! I am sorry, I am guilt as charged, I go for this trope. I know they are a train wreck of hot mess plot cluster but gosh comrades they are soooo gooey good. I mean it, it is a perfect romcom mix with a bit of drama angst to get the feels stirring - always an entertaining treat. And honestly, I have quickly became a fan of Stephanie St. Klaire so tickle my pickle excited I was ready to dive in!

I gotta hand it to the gal, I loved Cori and Nick. Right off the bat I liked Cor's spirit. She is nice yet stands her ground, I just really enjoyed her spunk. Nick on the other hand is just oozing sexy yummy - man I need to lick a piece of that. But he is also quite sweet, something I wasn't really banking on. AND GUESS WHAT? Not only is this a one trope show, there is another trope in our midst, actually one of my favorites but I won't discuss it because that would definitely give away one of the most humorous of introductions.

But honestly, I liked Cori and Nick. They had such a fun, sweet, just entertaining personality that once there was a chemistry established in their deal it was nothing but swoon me more.

As the chemistry, or rather 'fake' engagement scenario start to jump steadfast into plot involvement, I have to say I have my likes and dislikes. Obviously I liked Cori and Nick - who wouldn't? They are both an interesting breed of fictional characters that was creatively grown. Firstly I liked their connection. I mean I wanted the sexual chemistry to really get steamy but I also really appreciated the dynamic that played out. They actually had fun together, like two friends plotting world domination. However as Nick starts to flood Cori with gifts to hold up their facade, it more and more looked like a twisted sister of Pretty Woman. Not in a bad way, but just... different.

Unfortunately one of the biggest pet peeves I have is the secondary characters. I understand their purpose, I understand they involvement but honestly everything from their dialogue, their interactions - it was a forced dramatic effect for the plot that above all was over the top. It was complete exaggeration of sorts, one that became extremely annoying. Again, I understand where the author was going with the reasoning behind the ex-best friend being fake to show off, but at many points I felt the story would have been more entertaining with less of that aspect and more of a different avenue to focus Cori and Nick's 'fake' engagement. Especially considering the end trip, too many stories tied into one just to make some type of climatic rumpus? Smidge pointless.

Overall, I liked it, I just did not LOVE it. Not like I thought I would. At many points there just seemed to be this anti-climatic, perhaps overly dramatic situation that just did not jive together properly. Though I understand majority of this was probably on purpose for the growth of the story, the dynamic of the characters development but for me, it just felt it lacked a certain flare. There is also my slight distaste of the rushing factor.

Again I say, I really enjoy Stephanie's writing style and plan to continue reading her work; she is fun, quirky writing style that is sweet and entertaining. I just think I went into LIAR with a certain expectation and unfortunately it was not entirely set to that standard. Definitely a fun, light read that honestly was quick, enjoyable read..

This review is a challenging one for me to write. After reading the synopsis for Liar by Stephanie St. Klaire, I expected to get a fun, light-hearted romance with a trope that I enjoy. While that is what I got with the book, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I was anticipating, even though it was still a fun read for me.

I enjoyed the premise of this book and really loved the cast of characters. Nick was a dream, of course, and I enjoyed Cori’s friends a lot. I loved Cori’s grit and determination, that drive to succeed and make something of herself. She was so admirable, and I want all the good things for her. I loved the chemistry between Nick & Cori.

But on the other side of the coin, some aspects of this story didn’t work for me quite so much. There were several parts of the book that just felt over the top and really contrived, and I feel like the story as a whole would have benefitted from another round of editing. While it was in keeping with the theme of the story, some of the antagonism in the book came across as forced and not really authentic.

Novellas are a challenge to me as I’m often left wanting something more, and perhaps that was the case here. Overall, this was a middle of the road read for me. While I had fun reading it, it didn’t quite make magic for me.

I liked Nick the man knew how to speak his mind, "...I don’t like smoke blown up my…” He stopped himself and corrected, realizing he was talking to a lady. A lady who clearly didn’t use a lot of off- color words. “Well, I guess I like honesty, and you were being honest.” Nick isn't one to take no for an answer, “fifteen minutes…” he interrupted before hanging up." Foor me this was such a feel good read and I loved it.

This was a fun and lighthearted read. What starts out as a lie and a way to save face becomes a long term ruse that leads to love. This story was fun but had great character depth and even a little mystery. Nick and Cori had great chemistry and watching them plot and scheme to one-up Winnie and Phillip was hilarious. With Cori’s past, it was great to watch Nick make Winnie jealous of her for a change. And the end was sweet and Hallmark worthy.

Loved this book. It was funny, charming, had me laughing so hard, endearing.
Oh and so much more.
Cori Dash wasn’t sure what to do when she saw her ex-best friend, and ex-fiancé in the park.
But what she does do is hilarious. One little lie turns out to be so much more.
When Nick gets dragged into this fiasco, but he goes along with it. He hates to see Cori be treated this way. She doesn’t know him, but he may know her. The fun has just begun.

Hang on to see what happens. Some good twists in here.
You will absolutely love.

Liar was such a fun sexy story!! I loved Dominic and Cori’s chemistry. What started off as a ruse turned into a fairytale. I also enjoyed the the other characters, James, Devina, and Tony. Would love to see more stories with these characters.

“Love is a gamble-it’s hard, it hurts, and it’s worth it because its joy, and happiness, and adventurous. You need to gamble, honey. That man loves you probably more than you, him. I’d say he’s a safe bet. If not … there’s always my cousins Vinnie and Guido.”

When I read stories from Stephanie, I’m always assailed by laughter, love, and community…and maybe a little bit of intrigue revolving around someone’s death. I was surprised we made it through this story without any 😉

This book has everything I look for in a book. A heroine who is funny, bold, strong, a little broken and gets herself into situations that I would find myself in. A hero who puts the heroine above all else no matter what the circumstances. He's also funny, bold, strong, and a little broken too. They complete each other almost immediately.
Cori is an up and coming executive at her job. She attends a function to be seen and schmooze the bosses. What she doesn't expect to see is her cheating ex fiancé and her ex best friend. She panics and grabs the first guy she sees to say that he's her man. It's a bonus that he's the most gorgeous man she's ever seen. They pull off the lie perfectly.
Cut to the next day and Mr. perfect shows up at her job. She mistakes him for a crazy stalker when in reality, he's the CEO of the company. oops.
Nick is fantastic. He plays along with Cori and wants to continue the lie. He wants to help her put the exes in their place. He just might have his own motives as well but that is to unfold in the book. What I love about Nick is that he starts to feel things for Cori and knows that her trust is hard earned. He shows rather than tells her that she can trust him. It's in all the little things he does. He calls in favors from everyone under the sun. Of course he would know someone. And Cori has a difficult time just accepting everything that is offered. She would rather earn it. And that is what makes her totally different from every other woman Nick has been with.
This is not the first book I've read from Ms. St. Klaire. I have read them all. The common threads that she has in all her books are fantastic supporting characters, funny situations and a twist that you NEVER see coming. I plowed through this book! I didn't want it to end but I had to see where Cori and Nick would go. I loved it all!

A great story and quick read. This story is about Cori and Nick. Nick is quite the catch and I liked him right away. You could tell that he was into Cori the minute he met her. Cori meets Nick in the park when she is in desperate need of a fiancée. Cori is cornered by her ex-fiancée and ex-best friend who are together now. She needs to save face (or so she thinks) and grabs the hot guy walking by. Luckily he goes along with her story and then some. Nick really likes Cori and keeps coming up with things they need to do so they can prove to her ex-BFF & ex-fiancée that they are together. Really he just wants Cori to realize the are good together. I loved Cori’s relationship with Tony, company security guard/ pseudo father. Can’t forget Cori’s real BFF James and Devine Devine. Such a great, fun story.

Fantastic! Laugh out loud funny and seriously sexy, Liar is fabulous! Cori and Nick light up the pages as their fake romance turns into so much more. I love a good fake engagement and a seriously sexy billionaire who falls hard. This book had both! Plus Cori had some outrageous awkward moments...I could not stop laughing. Excellent!!

Cori and Nick's story was high on the heat and the quick-witted lies that slowly turned into truths. Tantalizing and full of one-upping with a devious pair of an ex-fiance and ex-best friend, this book held my attention. All the secondary characters were a delight and added depth to this one of a kind fake fiancée story.

Liar is a wonderfully written book. We have a little bit of mystery and little bit of romance, great characters and best of all we have some humor.

Cori basically is living life as a facade. From her transportation, her name to her knock off designer clothes/shoes. (I have lived her life. I can't tell you how many 'knock off's' I have found had garage sales and consignment shops).

She runs into her ex-fiance, Phillip and her former friend/college roommate, Winnie at an event/fund raiser. Feeling a little desperate she grabs hold of a stranger walking by and acts like he's her fiance. The hilarity of the moment is that the stranger plays along.

The stranger, Dominick (Nick) Blackthorne turns out to be her boss, that she has never met. There are several interesting moments in this book while these two play at being a couple.

Before long you're trying to figure out if they are 'playing' or if this turning into a reality they both want. I love the way that Nick basically is playing Prince Charming and has granted every wish a lady could want or even hope for.

I love the way Stephanie writes she has a way of pulling the reader into the book that make you feel like you are part of the story. I actually felt like I was one of the bystanders when Cori give Winnie doses of reality.

This is my second book by this author. I really enjoyed the first book and this book was just as amazing. She really knows how to tell a story. I was engulfed within the first few pages. I had to know what happened with Cori and Nick. I immediately fell in love with Cori. I loved how Cori met Nick. I loved Nick right away also. There chemistry was amazing and I just had to know what happened. I loved how Nick realized early on how awesome Cori is and how she deserves to have the most amazing fake wedding possible. And if it helps to piss off her ex best friend and ex fiance well thats just a fringe benefit. Cori is sweet and down to earth. She is trying to make something of herself and I love how Nick appreciates that. Nick is used to people telling him what he wants to hear because of his status. Cori is not like that and it is a fresh of breathe air in his life. I think Nick is a genuinely nice person too. There are quite a few twists that I did not see coming. I also really loved the relationship she has with Tony and James. This was a really well crafted thought out story. It kept me entertained the whole time. I can´t wait to read more from this author! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a great romance plot with characters you fall in love with.

Can a relationship survive being based on lies? Can it grow beyond temporary to become real? Cori Dash is living a lie - from her name, to her background, to her lifestyle. She's dedicated herself to work & the struggle to get ahead since her fiancée, Phillip, & her roommate, Winnie, slept with each other back in college. No one was making a fool of her again. During a run in with them at an event sponsored by her work, Cori grabbed an attractive stranger & started acting like they are a couple. To her surprise, he played along. Nick has been interested in her from the first time he'd seen her. He just wasn't sure how or when to approach her. He wasn't above taking advantage of this situation.

Stephanie St. Klaire has given her readers a light hearted romance to read. The characters were fully fleshed out individuals. Phillip & Winnie are perfect nose stuck in the air snobs! It's so easy to dislike them. I loved Tony & James!! There appearances served to bring things more down to earth. The story had a Cinderella vibe to it but was more entertaining.
An enjoyable way to spend the evening.

This is the second book that I have read of Stephanie's and is the first in its series. I found this book to be a quick easy, romantic read. I thought that Steph did a great job of developing the characters that you had enough information about them to understand them but not too much that it was excessive.

In addition, I really enjoyed the pace of how the story went. I think that because it went at a good pace it kept you interested as a reader and kept you from putting it down. I would say this is a great book to read over the Labor day weekend right before you head back to school starting again or just over a long weekend!

Lastly, I found the twists and turns and humor that Stephanie put into the book really added to the book. It add that element that along with the steady pace of the book kept me the busy reader not wanting to put the book down getting back to it as soon as I could.

Can't wait to read more from this author and can't wait to read the next book in this series. Recommend this book to romance readers and contemporary romance readers.

My Readultery Life Review

Liar is another fantastic light read from author Stephanie St.Klaire and a brilliant novella to start her new series with.

From the first page we get those sweet romance vibes flying off the pages. A true Cinderella and Prince Charming in our main characters, Cori and Nick. The whole concept of the storyline, ‘fake it to you make it’ romance gives us plenty of laughable moments and certainly delivers on the swoon factor with Nick.

What starts off as a ‘fake romance/relationship’ quickly turns into something so much more for each off the character, and when they are between the sheets, well off bets are off and boy does Stephanie delivery.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read, not heavy on the drama which allowed me to enjoy the true essence of the story, romance at its best can change lives. So if your looking for a light hearted read, Liar by Stephanie St.Klaire is the perfect story to pick up.

Wow just wow..... the words that ran through my mind at the end of this book.
This story flows so beautifully full of sparkles, love hearts and amazing friendships, it also had it's ugly emotions hate, jealousy lies and a sense of betrayal.

Cori is a beautiful fragile soul who hides behind her job making it her number one priority in life work...eat... sleep.....repeat. She has been dealt a rough hand in life and been burnt one too many times.

Nick is the guy of my dreams. He is humble, kind, sweet and funny. He is so used to hearing what people think they want him to hear, that Cori's honesty is refreshing and new to him.

All of the characters stand out and make a mark, its almost like watching a movie. You can just visualise what is happening as you read.
Ms St Klaire pulls you in and makes you want to stay right to the end, and makes you beg for more.

A great romance read that leaves you feeling soo satisfied a 5 star rating from me.

A witty rom-com from an awesome author known for her romantic suspense. Stephanie S. Klaire's first contemporary, awesome, rom-com, tear-jerker story. Cori Dash grabs a man off the street to be her fiance, to prove that she hasn't pined away for her ex who took up with Cori's use to be best friend. The two trust fund babies are perfect for each other. Stuck up, one up money people. Cori didn't know that the man she grabs is actually the owner of the company she works for and has more money than the two exes put together. Dominic (Nick) Blackthorne owner of Thorne Industries, her boss. He goes along with her rouse of pretend fiance and carries it to the max. Fun ensues but Cori didn't know that she wasn't the only liar. Nick has his own secrets. A really fun story. You'll laugh, you'll cry right along with the two of them. Total "My dog is bigger than your dog" Fun and games.

Imperfect World Series. Cori & Nick
I loved this easygoing, fun read. Filled with sexy, warm hearted, funny, & chemistry the characters are dynamic and one soon learns that payback is a b*tch, especially if you are snob!!! When a fake engagement becomes real all bets are off! LOVED IT!

Liar, part of the Imperfect World series is a lighthearted, sexy romance, that shakes you up from your ho-hum daily life. When the main characters Dominic and Cori thrust together by accident (or was it) they have to keep their lie going long enough to Cori’s ex-fiancé and ex best friend, they get deeper and deeper into the deceit and along the way, finding out they really like each other. But will Cori still like Dom when she finds out all is not what it seems. A great story and romantic comedy that is guaranteed to make you laugh!
