A SCOTS hotel owner has been hailed for offering 125 beds to the NHS amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Airth Castle boss Steven McLeod contacted NHS Forth Valley to offer his facilities for staff helping tackle the pandemic crisis.

And after sharing the conversation online, his selflessness was praised by punters.

The Facebook message read: "Hi, I know you are up the wall with this pandemic and I must say well done for all the awesome work in such a terrible time.

"I own Airth Castle Hotel which is accessed over three floors with stairs, lifts and corridors.

"I would like to offer the hotel to NHS Forth Valley as an overflow.

"Good luck and best wishes and keep safe."

An admin of the page replied saying it would hopefully not be required - but thanked him for the gesture and said they would pass it on to bosses.

We told earlier how the coronavirus death toll in Scotland has risen to 14 amid 499 diagnosed cases across the country.

Nicola Sturgeon confirmed four more Scots had died due to Covid-19 as she addressed the nation this afternoon.

And she revealed the number of confirmed cases across the country has risen by 83 from 416 yesterday.

The First Minister again urged businesses to allow non-essential workers to stay home.

And she said she has asked for "additional guidance" to be drafted up for firms impacted by the virus.
