After the success of his first feature La Mafia Uccide Solo d’Estate, Actor/Director Pierfrancesco Diliberto (A.K.A. as Pif) returns in front and behind the camera with this beautiful love story set in July '43 when Allied forces landed in Sicily to begin the ending of WW II. Arturo and Flora love each other, but her uncle, owner of a restaurant in New York, has already promised her in marriage to Carmelo, son of a local Mafia boss. Always short on money Arturo decides to join the Allied forces to be able to return to Sicily, which he had left in search of fortune in America, to find Flora’s father in the small town of Crisafulli to get his blessing for their marriage. Back in New York Flora’s uncle, having discovered Arturo’s plans, decides to put a Mafia contract to have him killed. In the background a clever narrative, winner of the Davide di Donatello for Best Screenplay, of how relations between Allies and the Mafia during World War II would shape the fate of Sicily and the rest of Italy for years to come.
IN ITALIAN WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES.
