A CELTIC bar in Glasgow has hailed NHS heroes for fighting coronavirus after being boarded up amid the lockdown.

Grace's pub in the Merchant City boarded up the building during the Covid-19 crisis - but shared a message branding frontline health workers 'The Real Heroes'.

The bar has been sealed off with huge boards which read: "Thank you NHS, much love from all staff + customers here at Grace's.

Sharing the tribute online, a post on the official Facebook page read: "Grace’s in Glasgow’s Merchant City, were sad to see the venue boarded up yesterday.

"And so, we decided to remind everyone we are in this together by replacing the boards with something a bit more uplifting.

"Stay home and help the NHS. It’s the only way we can save lives.

"Stay safe, stay well and stay indoors."

The post quickly racked up more than 1,600 likes with social media users loving the classy act.

One wrote: "Superb Graces lovely well deserved tribute."

Another replied: "Thank you from a grateful nurse"

While a third wrote: "Proud to be part of this team! What a way to show some love!Can’t wait for it to all be over!"

It comes after we told of tributes paid to a Scots care worker who died from suspected coronavirus.

The NHS worker is said to have passed away from Covid-19 at a care home in West Dunbartonshire.
