The Frenchman and teammate passenger Odsonne Edouard, 20, walked away unharmed but the 54-year-old driver of the other car had to be taken for treatment by mercy crews in Cumbernauld, near Glasgow.

An onlooker said: “They’re lucky boys - it could have been a lot worse.”

The French duo were in a Range Rover Sport being driven by Ntcham when it hit another car and sent both motors into bushes.

The pair - who were later joined at the scene by teammate Moussa Dembele - spoke to paramedics and cops after the accident in Cumbernauld, near Glasgow, yesterday afternoon.

Dramatic pictures from the crash aftermath show both motors bonnet-first in bushes just yards from trees.

Onlookers said the driver’s door on the Volvo was caved in and debris from the smash could be seen strewn across the pavement in the industrial estate.

The smash came just hours after the players had arrived home from Champions League qualifiers duty in Armenia.

Ntcham, 22, will be reported by cops to the procurator fiscal after the accident in Cumbernauld, near Glasgow, yesterday afternoon.

The pair’s teammate Moussa Dembele - who turns 22 today - arrived on the scene shortly after the collision. It’s understood he was driving his own car close by.

The 54-year-old driver of the other car - a Volvo XC60 - was rushed to hospital after the crash near a Barr’s Irn Bru factory around 2.20pm.

Onlookers said the injured man had to be taken out his motor on a stretcher - as they said the French stars appeared “shaken up” by the crash.

One said: “The poor guy was trapped at first. He had a nasty leg injury and couldn’t get out his car.

“He had to be taken out on a spinal board, although that seems to have been just a precaution.

“Ntcham and Edouard were walking wounded at worst, but didn’t appear to be serious.

“They all looked unharmed but you could see from their faces they were shaken up.

“Edouard was covering his face with his jumper at one point but I think it was out of embarrassment rather than him nursing an injury.”

Cops last night appealed for dashcam footage from witnesses as they confirmed a 22-year-old would be reported.

They said: “A blue Range Rover was driving north along Mollins Road when it collided with a silver Volvo at the junction with Orchardton Road, Cumbernauld.

“The 54 year-old driver of the Volvo was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital as a precaution. Nobody else was injured during the incident.

“A 22 year-old man will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal for a road traffic offence in connection with the incident.”

PC Stuart Newall said: “We are appealing for anyone who in the area who may have dash cam footage that can help us in our enquiries. Did you witness the collision, or were you driving along that road prior to the collision? You may have information that can help us.”

Witnesses also revealed the motorists were fortunate their cars didn’t end up further into the undergrowth.

He said: “If they hadn’t hit the bushes it could have been much worse. It helped slow the cars down a bit.

“They’d have been heading straight towards trees.

“There’s wreckage all over the payement. The bodywork of the Range Rover is all damaged as well.”

The incident happened just hours after the pair jetted home from the club’s 3-0 Champions League win away at Alashkert in Armenia.

Cops arrived at the scene and later two recovery vehicles which carted the Range Rover away after workers used machinery to haul it from the bush.

Ntcham and Eduoard could be seen chatting to paramedics in the aftermath of the incident.

Shortly after the crash the French pair’s teammate Moussa Dembele arrived at the scene of the crash.

Ntcham - wearing a white cap and t-shirt - was later driven away in a white Seat vehicle.

Dembele and Eduoard were then driven away in a silver Audi.

One source said: “A lot of cars were having to slow down as they passed by the crash.

“I’m almost certain a few people would have recognised them.

“You could tell they were a bit embarrassed.”

A Celtic spokeswoman said: “The club is aware of an accident earlier today but won’t be making any further comment until it has been investigated.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “Operations Control mobilised two fire engines to the scene and firefighters assisted one person from one of the vehicles and handed them into the care of paramedics.

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We dispatched one ambulance and a paramedic response unit to the scene.

“One patient was taken to the Forth Valley Royal Infirmary.”

Earlier this year Ntcham, Edouard and Dembele filmed themselves in a motor hanging a Hoops top out the car window after beating Rangers.

They could also be heard singing Tupac tune Hail Mary in the bizarre bid.

Ntcham joined Celtic last summer in a £4.5 million move from Genoa in Italy.

The ex- French under 21 star became a fans’ favourite during his first season at the club.

Last month the Scottish Champions signed Edouard on a permanent four-year contract for a club record fee of £9m.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan with Brendan Rodgers’ side from PSG, scoring 11 goals in 29 appearances as the club secured a historic back-to-back domestic treble.

They both starred in the club’s 3-0 Champions League win on Tuesday night, with Edouard scoring the first goal.
