| | | | BMCNE Garage Assistance Program
There are certain times we all need a little help, nudge, assistance or guidance. With that in mind, we announce our Garage Assistance Program. Over the years BMCNE has peppered the Tech Session season with visits to club members garages, to assist with stalled or problem projects. Whether it's a technical or motivational issue, BMCNE can help get that project back on track. Be it the installation of a new interior or top, a brake job or suspension upgrade, or that electrical gremlin you've been tracking down, BMCNE is here to help. We are fast approaching our tech session season and this year we have decided to promote our Garage Assistance Program. The sessions normally take place on Saturday mornings from 9am to 12pm. The club brings coffee, donuts, knowledge and assistance. All you need to do is supply the project and garage space. The sessions last for 3 hours which should be plenty of time to jump start and reinvigorate that stalled project. To get onto the Tech Session schedule contact Chris Izzo at webmaster@bmcne.org or call 401-828-0207.

On Sunday July 16th, 2nd gear in my 1978 Spitfire quit as I was leaving the British Motorcars of New England summer cookout in Southern RI. Any attempt to use it was met with a loud, sickening, grinding noise which one knows just can’t be good.
|
I drove the 20 miles home using 1st, 3rd, and 4th. Upon arrival I posted on “The Triumph Experience” in the hope that one of the guys had a quick and ready solution, you know, something simple and easy. Well, maybe not easy but hopefully quick. As it happens that was not to be the case.
In a very short time, the replies from the board began to arrive: “that tranny is going to have to come out, no matter, even if it’s an easy fix, the transmission needs to be removed from the car.” In the case of a Spitfire, removing the transmission entails either pulling the engine or removing the interior to lift the tranny out through the top. This was a much bigger project than my meager mechanical abilities would allow. I’d like to go on record here as rating my mechanical ability as “wholly incompetent”. |

GAP Session Bob Hunter's Herald 22 Cole Drive, North Kingstown, RI
Bob reached out to BMCNE for assistance with his Triumph Herald. BMCNE members and friends will assist with the door weather stripping clips and hanging the door. Bob also had an issue with the dashboard wiring, one wire heated up and melted some of the insulation. He just wants to be able to resolve that issue and feel comfortable reassembling the dashboard. |

GAP Session Tom & Nancy Bernier's MGB & Garage 78 Country Way. Taunton Ma.
Tom has a few things that he could use some guidance on. He recently put poly bushings on the entire suspension, lowered springs front and back and new tie rod ends, front shocks. Tom has his old springs and shocks which have 30,000 miles on them. If anyone can use them or knows how to rebuild them you can have them.
Tom also has a garage lift he'd like to show us. |

British Car Day® is hosted annually by the Toronto Triumph Club, on the third Sunday of September. Since its inaugural event in 1984, it has grown in leaps and bounds, and now draws around 1,000 British cars and 8,000 spectators, with room to grow even bigger. |

| | Beatles Night Taunton, Ma
Beatles Night was a pre registration sell out! We had the full complement of signups and the City of Taunton did a wonderful job of protecting our cars with the road blocked at both ends. Lots of folks had the opportunity to meet members from other clubs. Wonderful New England summer evening. The Photos are here:

| | 1980 MGB LE -$10,950
45,000+ miles on the odometer. Less than 1,000 miles on rebuilt engine. Weber carb and John Esposito (Quantum Mechanics) remanufactured overdrive transmission, new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, clutch slave cylinder, hose and master cylinder, steel clutch line, turned and balanced flywheel, rebuilt front suspension and steering, new brakes and SS braided hoses, new radiator, new battery. Previous owner had body restored to rust free condition and professionally painted although it is no longer perfect as this car gets driven regularly. LE Luggage rack and stripes go with car. (I just preferred the cleaner look of the car without them. Convertible top is serviceable but could use a new one. Car is in North Scituate, RI. For more details or photos please call Charley at 203-733-4421 or email charleyrob@gmail.com.
One of the members might be interested in my collection of TSO (The Sacred Octagon, the magazine of the New England MG ’T’ Register). I have issues dating back to 1968. I also have back issues of “MG Magazine” and “MGA”, the magazine of the North American MGA Register. These are free to any interested parties.
