U.S. – Ghana Executive Business Roundtable Meeting With The President of Ghana

The U.S. – Africa Business Center in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce, Ghana and Ghana Investment Promotion Center on September 24, 2018 held a private ‘Executive Business Roundtable’ meeting with H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The event took place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York, USA.

Discussions were held on the state of Ghana’s investment environment and means to further improve it to make it attractive to investors. This is in line with the President’s vision of industrializing the country. Read more...

Melania Trump Visits Ghana, 1st Stop Of African Tour

U.S. first lady Melania Trump is in Ghana at the start of a tour of Africa -- her first major solo international trip since her husband became president.

The first lady landed in Ghana Tuesday morning and visited the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, where she saw babies being weighed and passed out blankets and teddy bears donated by the White House. Read more...

Excise Tax Stamp: 1000 Jobs Could Be Lost Over Seized Goods – AGI
The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has warned that over a thousand people in the beverages industry in Ghana could lose their jobs if the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) fails to remove compliance officers from the factories of its members and engage in further dialogue in relation to the tax stamp policy. Oracle Appoints New VP For Sub-Saharan Africa

Oracle on Tuesday announced the appointment of Andrew Sordam as vice president for sub-Saharan Africa with immediate effect.

Sordam takes over from Cherian Varghese who has been named as the regional managing director and vice president for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and South Asian Growing Economies at Oracle, based out of Singapore. Read more...

Melania Trump Visits Ghana's Cape Coast

Melania Trump visited a former slave holding facility on Ghana’s coast Wednesday, calling it “very emotional” and “really something that people should see and experience.” On the second day of her goodwill trip to Africa, the U.S. first lady visited the Cape Coast Castle, one of about 40 "slave castles" built on the Gold Coast of West Africa by European traders. Newmont Ahafo Foundation Constructs Projects In BA/Region

The Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation (NADeF), set up by Newmont Ghana Gold Limited for sustainable development at its operational areas in the Bong Ahafo Region, has constructed 110 projects and social amenities at a total cost of about GH¢19,920,751 in 10 communities in the area. Read more...

AmCham Ghana Vice President Joined USAID Administrator For  A Breakfast Roundtable Discussion 
AmCham Ghana Vice President, Mr. Felix Addo on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 joined USAID and a small delegation of visiting U.S. Government officials for a breakfast roundtable discussion hosted by the USAID Administrator, Mark Green at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.

The event featured a discussion about the investment climate, particularly for U.S. businesses, and how they can best build long-term investment strategies in the Ghanaian business environment.

Webster University Ghana Launches Student Success Center

Webster University Ghana has inaugurated a new Success Center for students. Coordinator of the Success Center, Angela Baxter, an adjunct professor at Webster University Ghana, described the Success Center as an extension of the classroom; the Success Center is designed to support students in every aspect of their academic development. The Administrator of USAID, Ambassador Mark Green, wants government to be wary of Chinese aid as it pursues a Ghana Beyond Aid agenda.

According to Ambassador Green, who is part of US First Lady Melania Trump’s delegation that visited Ghana, the Chinese model of loan assistance rather than humanitarian aid that lifts people out of poverty exposes the Chinese agenda towards the continent. Read more...
