Kasaragod: Two expats of Kasargod district will face punitive action including cancellation of their passports for violating coronavirus quarantine orders. District administration has decided to take action against them after it was found that they violated instructions for self-isolation and wandered outside creating chances for the spread of virus.
District Collector Dr D Sajith Babu said repeated requests were made before initiating strict action. Because of their irresponsibile behaviour, the virus has spread to other people. It has been decided to cancel their passports and never allow them to fly to gulf countries. If anyone is found violating instructions, similar actions will be taken, he added.
“99.9 percent of people are obeying orders. But a small percent of people are adamant on not obeying government instructions. Such people will be dealt with aptly,” he further said.
The Collector also said that shops selling essential commodities have been allowed to open from 11 am to 5 pm. However, tea, coffee and juice shops will not be allowed. Also if more people assemble at the shop, it will be force shut.
Arrangements will be made to distribute edible items coming from places including Mangaluru via shops, Sajith Babu added.
With the most number of coronavirus cases reported from Kasaragod, the district has imposed severe restrictions. People are not allowed outside their houses unnecessarily. Strict actions are being taken against violators. All required measures have been taken to check the spread of the virus, he further stated.
