Hong Kong Protests: K-pop idols GOT7 HK 'Keep Spinning' concerts cancelled amid concerns for safety
Yesterday fans called for the concerts to be cancelled after Jackson Wang posted pro-China messages on Weibo; today the gigs were postponed
Sorry fans, the boys won't be here this month. Whether or not they were inspired by fans' pleas to cancel the gigs to protect member Jackson Wang, the organisers have postponed K-pop idols GOT7's "Keep Spinning" World Tour concerts, which were due to take place at the end of the month.
In a statement emailed to media, and shared on Facebook, Rolemodel Entertainment Group said the events scheduled for August 31 and September 1 at AsiaWorld-Expo Arena would be postponed to later dates.
Organisers said the decision was made "due to unforeseen circumstances resulting from the latest social situation in Hong Kong that may affect fans from arriving and departing the venue, and may also lead to safety concerns of fans."
All tickets will be cancelled and fully refunded by HK Ticketing to the same credit card account used for ticket purchase within 45 working days. If you bought a ticket with cash, you should take it to the HK Ticketing Box Office at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai during business hours (Monday-Saturday, 11am-7pm) from Monday September 25.
This is not the only event to be affected by the ongoing Hong Kong protests. The August 21 comedy performance by South African TV host Trevor Noah was announced postponed this morning, and a major financial forum organised by asset manager BlackRock has been moved from the first week of September to February next year.
