Who We Are

Who You Are
As a full-time Health and Information Technology Faculty member, you will support and teach courses in the Health Information Technology program (HIT). Your primary focus will be teaching health information technology courses. You will also provide oversight of the professional practicum experience for the HIT students.
You will work individually, as well as in collaboration with colleagues, to develop innovative curriculum which meets the needs of our diverse population of students. Student retention and success is your top priority. You will utilize technology and effective teaching strategies to develop students’ critical thinking skills.
In this position, you will assume instructional leadership roles which may include developing curriculum, student advising, contributing to department, campus, college and community initiatives, serving on departmental and college-wide committees, assessment of student academic achievement, and other college activities as assigned by the chair and dean.
You could potentially serve as a lead or program director for related academic degree and/or certificate programs. The needs of the College may necessitate teaching at different times, locations, and modalities to meet the needs of the College. Some teaching modalities and locations may entail completion of additional FRCC professional development programs, such as our Online Instructor Certification training.

Position will remain open until filled with a priority deadline of October 25, 2020.

Completed application package includes: a resume; a cover letter/letter of interest; a copy of official transcripts; a one-page statement of your teaching philosophy; and a list of courses and the semesters you have taught.
Please note: this is an on-campus position. You need to be a Colorado resident on your first day of employment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
|
|
- Teaches assigned HIT/MOT courses in face-to-face format and/or hybrid format
- Teaches didactic and experimental portions of curriculum
- Constructs a course syllabus consistent with the generic course syllabus that specifies the course learning outcomes, content and grading criteria
- Conducts Program Information Sessions for interested students
- Helps assist with HIT Advisory Board Meetings 2x per year
- Develops Perkins requests for equipment as needed
- Oversees secondary instructors in the lab portion of the course
- Participates in the State Program 5-year Plans for Career and Technical Education
- Assists with program evaluation on student completion, job placement, and program satisfaction
- Reviews, recommends, and implements selection of textbooks, instructional aids, instructional resources and equipment
- Interfaces regularly with other departments, especially Admissions, Financial Aid, Placement, and the Registrar
- Attends and represents the HIT program at local, state, and national meetings

Required Education/Training & Work Experience:
|
|
- A Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, from a regionally accredited college/university
- 4,000 hours of work-related experience in the Health Management field within the last 5 years; must be able to obtain Vocational Teaching Credential with work experience
- Licensure/Certification: AHIMA credential in RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator)
- Other Qualifications: Ability to apply technology in the classroom and online learning software
