The Revolt RV400 is an electric motorcycle that comes packed with many advanced features, a swappable battery, and is able to deliver performance that’s at par with 125cc internal combustion engine(ICE) motorcycles. Recently, Revolt has released a new variant of the RV400 known as the “India Blue” cricket edition which brings a glossy blue colour scheme for the bike.

Revolt RV400 Price : The Revolt RV400 is available in two versions: the more affordable RV400 BRZ and the standard version. The RV400 BRZ comes in five colours: Lunar Green, Pacific Blue, Dark Silver, Rebel Red, and Cosmic Black. It has a price tag of Rs 1,37,950 (ex-showroom). The standard version is offered in six colours: Eclipse Red, Cosmic Black, Mist Grey, Stealth Black, Lightning Yellow, and the 'India Blue' Cricket Edition. As part of an ongoing festive offer, there is a discount of Rs 12,000, bringing the price of the Stealth variant down to Rs 1,47,950, and the other colours to Rs 1,42,950 (all prices ex-showroom).

Revolt RV400 Design : The RV400 features a very sleek design that’s quite similar to the Super Soco TS Model, thanks to Super Soco being their platform partner. The RV400 comes with LED headlight and turn indicators. The handlebars are wide and the bike has a very comfortable riding position, the rider also has the option of changing the footpeg position to either a rear-set position or a mid-set position according to what’s comfortable. The fuel tank is replaced by a lockable compartment that houses the bike’s removable lithium-ion battery. In the rear the bike has a lengthy fender with integrated licence plate holder. The bike has an aluminium subframe and swingarm, with suspension handled by a inverted front fork and a rear monoshock with screw-type preload adjustability. Braking is handled by 240mm disc brakes at both the front and rear, complemented by CBS. It has 90/80-17 tyre in the front and 120/80-17 in the rear, the bike has a wheelbase of 1,350mm. Seat height is 814mm and the bike has a ground clearance of 215mm with a kerb weight of 108kg.

Features of Revolt RV400 : The RV400 is a feature-packed motorcycle that comes with a full-LCD instrument cluster which incorporates 4G connectivity. The Revolt app allows the rider to pair their smartphone with the bike to access details such as travel history, battery health, remaining range and the nearest swap station. There’s also the addition of security features like the ability to set up a geofencing radius. The bike also offers other features like keyless operation. The most interesting feature that comes with the RV400 is the artificial engine note which is generated via speakers on the motorcycle and can be customised using the Revolt app to make the bike sound like various petrol-powered bikes. The more affordable RV400 BRZ has a digital instrument console but lacks smartphone connectivity. It includes a speedometer, battery level indicator, three riding modes, live temperature and a side stand sensor.

Revolt RV400 Engine : Powering the Revolt RV400 is a 72V, 3.24kWh lithium-ion battery that requires approximately 4.5 hours for a full charge when using a 15A socket, paired with a 3kW motor.

Revolt RV400 Suspension, Brakes & Other Details : The RV400 has an aluminium subframe and swingarm. It comes equipped with an inverted front fork and a rear monoshock with screw-type preload adjustability. Braking is managed by 240mm disc brakes at both ends, complemented by CBS. It has a 90-section front and 120-section rear tyre, and a wheelbase of 1,350mm. Seat height of the electric bike is 814mm and it has a generous ground clearance of 215mm. The RV400 has a kerb weight of 108kg.

Revolt RV400 Rivals : While the Revolt RV 400 doesn't have direct natural rivals, it rivals with other electric two-wheelers such as the Ather 450X, TVS iQube Electric, and the Bajaj Chetak Electric, which are all noteworthy alternatives. If you're in the market for a more powerful electric motorcycle option, consider exploring the Tork Kratos.

Revolt RV400 Range : In Eco mode, the RV400 achieves a range of up to 150 km on a single charge. In Normal mode, it covers 100 km, and in Sports mode, it offers a range of 80 km. The top speed is limited to 85 kmph

Revolt RV400 Pros and Cons

  • RV400 Advantages

With a lightweight kerb weight of just 108kg, city maneuverability becomes effortless. Impressively, it offers a generous ground clearance of 220mm, equivalent to that of the Hero XPulse 200. The removable battery adds convenience to the charging process, and there's an affordable financing scheme available, setting it apart from any other offerings in the market.

  • RV400 Disadvantages

The throttle response can be a bit abrupt, particularly when in Sport mode. Initially, e-bike’s availability is limited to select cities. Additionally, the quality of certain plastic components may feel somewhat flimsy.

  • Expert's Conclusion

The Revolt RV 400 represents a significant stride toward embracing electric mobility in the demanding Indian market. It boasts a contemporary design, a relatively affordable price point and the assurance of cost-effective operation. All of these factors position the Revolt RV 400 as an excellent choice for individuals seeking a hassle-free, environmentally friendly commuter motorcycle designed for urban use.

Revolt RV400 Expert Review

The Revolt RV400 is what started the electric bike craze in India, packed with a few nifty features and a performance that is at par with 125cc petrol bikes the RV400 was the only premium electric motorcycle in India for quite some time until other rivals turned up. The bike has 2 variants, the standard variant that’s priced at Rs 1.39 lakh and the new ‘India Blue’ Cricket Edition which costs Rs 1.59 Lakh. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.

Design

The RV400 comes with a very sleek design that gives the motorcycle a street fighter character. Revolt has done a good job striking that balance between form and functionality, the fuel tank being replaced by a lockable compartment that houses the bike’s lithium-ion battery is one example of this in action. The bike comes with a sleek LED headlight and turn indicators that goes well with the futuristic look of the electric motorcycle.

Engine, Mileage And Performance

Powering the Revolt RV400 is a 72V, 3.24kWh lithium-ion battery that requires approximately 4.5 hours for a full-charge when using a 15A socket and is paired with a 3kW motor. The bike has a charging time of 4.5 hours and comes with 3 riding modes, Eco, Normal and Sports.

In Eco mode, the RV400 achieves a range of up to 150 km on a single charge. In Normal mode, it covers 100 km, and in Sports mode, it offers a range of 80 km. The top speed is limited to 85 kmph (all claimed figures). Overall, the performance is equivalent to a 125cc petrol-powered commuter bike. While the throttle response is smooth in City or Normal mode, it could’ve been smoother in Sports mode.

Handling And Ride Quality

The bike has an aluminium subframe and swingarm, with suspension handled by an inverted front fork and a rear monoshock with screw-type preload adjustability. Suspension set up is able to handle most bumps and potholes but the bike’s low kerb weight of 108 kg sometimes makes the bike toss around when going through larger potholes at higher speeds. The ground clearance of 215mm does help when travelling through Indian roads but the bike doesn’t inspire much confidence due to the low weight.

Braking is handled by 240mm disc brakes at both the front and rear, complemented by CBS and offers a good bite. The ride quality is quite good overall, and the same can be said for the e-bike’s handling as well. This is considering the fact that the e-bike’s low weight makes it really easy to flick through traffic, making it a perfect commuter.

Comfort

The wide handlebars give the rider a comfortable riding position and the bike offers the option to adjust the footpegs to either a rear-set or a mid-set position depending on the rider's preference. The seat is well cushioned and is neither too hard nor too soft but the seat height is quite high, coming at 814mm making the motorcycle less accessible for shorter riders.

Features

The most interesting feature that comes with the RV400 is the artificial engine note which is generated via speakers on the motorcycle and can be customised using the Revolt app and the bike can be made to sound like various ICE motorcycles.

When it comes to features the RV400 well-equipped in the form of a full-LCD instrument cluster which incorporates 4G connectivity. This works  via the Revolt app that gives the rider access to information such as travel history, battery health, remaining range and nearest swap station along with other details. The bike also gets a security feature that allows riders to set up a geofencing range to prevent theft.

Should You Buy The Revolt RV400?

The Revolt RV400 is quite a good motorcycle if you’re looking for a commuter-oriented electric bike.

Those looking for more performance (150cc petrol bike-equivalent) can opt for the  Tork Kratos, but it comes at a higher price.

  • RV 400 eco-friendly charm

I have used the Revolt RV 400 electric bike. It was an interesting experience! This bike runs on electricity, not gas. This makes it good for the environment. The RV 400 is one of the cheapest electric bikes you can buy. Because of this, more people can afford it. When you ride the RV 400, it goes fast from a stop. It also makes no sound as you ride. These things make it easy to get around cities. However, the battery does not last very long on one charge. You may run out of power on longer trips. Also, there are not many places to charge the battery. Even with these problems, the RV 400 is still a good choice. It costs less than other electric bikes. It looks nice. And it does not make any pollution.

The defining feature of the model is its futuristic and daring design, accompanied by the premium features like standard LED lights, digital instruments and smartphone connectivity that are not usual for the non-electric counterparts.
