Kai Pearce-Paul slams bizarre mix-up

Wigan Warriors’ Kai Pearce-Paul has made a name for himself in recent seasons.

The athletic second-rower made the move up to the north west from the London Broncos and has engrained himself within the Warriors’ set-up pretty seamlessly.

So, you would think that there would be no trouble in recognising a photo of him.

Well, that isn’t the case; with Sky Sports running an article of the 20-year-old, comparing the youngster to Sonny Bill Williams, they used a photo of fellow Wigan star Umyla Hanley.

Pearce-Paul was tagged by his brother Kameron – also a highly-rated youngster – to which Kai responded “Nice photo of me that”.

Warriors owner Ian Lenagan had previously spoken about how the likes of Pearce-Paul will soon come knocking for a new deal and how tough it is to the upgrade a contract immediately.

“We’ve got conversations that we will need to have with Kai Pearce-Paul soon, you know, Kai’s obviously set the Super League on fire this year, but his manager will come knocking very, very soon,” Lenagan said.

“And you will still get the same Kai Pearce-Paul, but his salary might be four times more. So, if I’m sat where you are from a Wiganer’s point of view, you don’t see the fact that we might have to pay him three or four times more. You just see the one player and that’s the challenges that we’ve got to overcome.”
