PORTLAND (WGME) -- The Maine CDC has alerted the city of Portland that a bat has tested positive for rabies.

The city says rabies is common in wild animals, and Mainers should never touch an animal that is wild or unknown to you.

Portland also wants to remind residents to make sure their animals are up to date on rabies vaccines.
