Medical Informaticist and Educator

Intermountain Healthcare recently announced the formation of a Center for Standards-Based Healthcare Interoperability, and I have been asked by the Center's steering committee to be the inaugural Chair. The mission of the Center is to enhance the quality of care and other health-related services we provide to our community by optimizing the ability of our information systems to integrate and share data. In fact, it goes beyond just data and includes interoperability of applications, knowledge, and other content. This centralizes and focuses efforts Intermountain has long been known for, and also incorporates efforts my colleagues and I have been working on with #Logica Health (formerly Health Services Platform Consortium - HSPC) (www.logicahealth.org). #Interoperability is vital to the advancement of healthcare at all levels, from bench science to clinical care to pubic health. In fact, I believe that it is absolutely essential to the effective implementation, generalizability and scalability of other innovations like population health, precision medicine, healthcare AI, telehealth, value-based healthcare, and social determinants of health.

Scott, I'd like to add this news to the DBMI website. Would that be okay?
