As per the latest news reports, Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA), which is the autonomous administrative body for the hills of Darjeeling, recently formed a committee of various bodies, including political parties, hotel owners, police and district administration. And as per their last meeting, the committee has decided to reopen hotels for tourism purpose, in a move to revive the economy. As pe the order, hotel owners have been advised to follow the standard operating protocols strictly as per the guidelines of the central government.
Darjeeling, famous for its tea estates and popular for being a tourist hotspot, suffered a massive blow due to the lockdown, thereby leaving many out of business. So now, the GTA has formed a committee that has decided to re-open hotels to revive the economy through tourism.
