Huddersfield Giants recruit Danny Levi reveals why he left former club to move to Super League

Danny Levi has arrived in the UK ahead of his first season with the Huddersfield Giants after moving from the NRL.

The hooker joined the Giants on a two-year deal after the deal was completed back in September, but spoke about the difficulty of getting used to the weather.

Levi told the Huddersfield website: “It’s been really good since I arrived. They boys have been welcoming.

It’s cold here, but the boys are telling me you never get used to it, you just learn to deal with it – it’s a massive change. I’ve gone from 25 and above to being happy when it’s 6 degrees. It’s something different though!”

Arriving with 112 NRL appearances under his belt, Levi says he’s looking forward to playing at a high level and being a success in West Yorkshire, and was glad for Giants Coach Ian Watson to see potential in the former Manly Sea Eagles and Newcastle hooker.

“I wanted to play at the top level, I have the opportunity to come over here and Ian Watson saw a lot in me so that’s given me a lot of confidence. I just want to be a success here. I feel like I’ve got a lot of experience in the NRL so hopefully I’ll try and bring that over here, share it and do well.”

The 26-year-old touched down with his wife and daughter last Saturday, but has been using his time in Australia prior to his arrival to keep fit, soak up some of the summer Australia sun and looking after his little girl.

“I’ve been training pretty consistently. It’s been warm over there as well so I’ve been spending a bit of time in the pool and looking after my little girl. She’s been keeping me busy.”

“The whole family are doing good – the missus has joined a netball team, so that’s pretty good and she’s enjoying it. We just need to find my little girl some friends because she’s running rampant at home at the minute.”
