Celebrating its 38th anniversary this year, the main theme of the Istanbul Book Fair was 50 generations in our literature. ARTİST 2019 / 29th Istanbul Art Fair, organized within this scope, was granted the Art Loving Institution Award by Istanbul Kültür University. Fahamettin Akıngüç, Certificated Civil Engineer, received the award on behalf of IKU.

Making Turkey by TUYAP Fairs Publishers Association, prepared in cooperation with 38. International Istanbul Book Fair 2019 ARTIST / 29th Istanbul Art Fair was held. In addition to art galleries, Istanbul Art Fair, where independent groups, various art initiatives, universities and young artists are also guests, welcomed art lovers with the theme of Faust. Many journalists, writers and guests attended the award ceremony held within the scope of the fair. In the night, the Art Honor Award was given to Istanbul Kültür University and the Artist Honor Award was given to Mevlüt Akyıldız. TÜYAP Chairman Bülent Ünal received his award from Kenan Kocatürk, Chairman of the Publishers Association.

“I have been hitting the importance of art for 60 years”

The honorary chairman of the Board of Trustees of the university, who received the Artistic Institution Award on behalf of Istanbul Kültür University, is Eng. Fahamettin Akıngüç emphasized that art has always been friendly for years; “I am expected to make sentences about the place and importance of art in our schools, university, in my life. I've been talking about the importance of art for 60 years. In the works I try to do, I support art and protect the artist. How can I love and protect? Art became my friend.

“ART IS A WORK OF SHARING”

Akıngüç, who received his award from journalist Doğan Hızlan, said, “Art is not always about money. Let's not forget; every artwork, whoever it is, should share it. It should show the students to other people. They take the exhibitions in the paintings and put them in their houses and the art ends there. These must be shared. Art is not commercial, it is sharing. The pictures should not hang on the walls of the houses ”.

Istanbul Kultur University Publishing House will meet book lovers at the 38th International Istanbul Book Fair have been held on November 2-10.

Indigo Kid’s House Kindergarten students visited the  Threshold of Modernity - Lignum ”exhibition which opened at IKUSAG on Thursday, October 31 at 11.00. The little art lovers, who examined the works with great curiosity, then they interpreted the paintings they saw in the art workshop in line with their own imagination which accompanied by Assist. Prof. Dr. Reyhan Uludag from the department of Art Management.

Department of Architecture organized a technical visit to Topkapi Palace on 18 October and Beylerbeyi Palace on 25 October within the scope of “MIM0315 Palace Architecture and Conservation Problems in Istanbul ”and C ARC0315 Palace Architecture in Istanbul and its Conservation Problems” courses.

The ARC0008 Graduation Project course, which was conducted in the Department of Architecture, was also discussed with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and given the subject of City Institute. An area including Yenikapı metro station was given to the students as project land.

On 25 September 2019, the Department of Architecture organized a seminar on Theodosius Harbor Walls in Yenikapı. Assist. Prof. Member Nisa Semiz gave general information about the ancient city walls of Istanbul (Bizantion, Averlian, Constantine and Theodosius) by means of old maps and engravings and made statements about the sea walls of Istanbul. Assist. Prof. Semiz, a member of the city walls parallel to the Marmara Sea, Yenikapı, the students disappeared in the part of the project area and the traces of the standing today showed to our students through traces.

Istanbul Kültür University Women and Social Research Unit (IKÜKAD) hosted 3Gen Technology Founding Partner Engin Özgen and NTV Host Lecturer Sami Altınkaya on Monday, November 4, 2019. During the event, the concept of new entrepreneurship, which has gained importance in the context of constantly developing business life with technology, was discussed. In the event where our guests shared their experiences; the importance of personal development, the benefits of alternative thinking, the technologies of the future, the benefits of experience, and the importance of expertise in at least one area.

Communication Arts Club and Communication Arts Department students and faculty members, made a trip to “16. Istanbul Biennial ” which is organized by Istanbul Culture and Art Foundation on Friday, November 1. Research on urban transformation, migration, forced displacement, invasion, destruction of nature, eco-feminism, extinct water resources, global climate justice under the theme of “7th Continent “. Research Assistant Merve Çelik and Research Assistant Kübra Karapınar accompanied our students who had the opportunity to explore the biennial in terms of both artistic and sensory and environmental sensitivity.

The exhibition titled “The Reflections of Republican Achievements in Advertising”, organized in collaboration with Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School Graphic Design Program and Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM), opened in Akıngüç foyer on Monday 28 October.

In the exhibition published in the years following the foundation of the Republic, the works reflecting the renewal and modernization brought to the social life by the revolutions; Advertisers Association, Orhan Koloğlu and Yakup Barouh'un newspaper ads and posters in the archive can be seen examples. Advertising examples reflecting the wind of change from the letters and hats revolution to the rights granted to women, encouraging domestic goods and savings to the Republic celebrations, visitors will have the opportunity to examine Republican achievements from a completely different window.

The exhibition can be visited until November 15th.

New Media and Communication Department and Cinema and Television Department collaborated with Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Virtual Reality Applications and New Approaches in Documentary. Documentary / Director / New Media Artist Deniz Tortum and Academician / Writer Esen Kunt were the speakers of the event.

The project area was visited on 18 September 2019. Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Head of the Department of Portable Cultural Heritage and Restoration / Head of the Department of Conservation of Underwater Culture Prof. Dr. Ufuk Kocabaş gave information to the students about the Theodosius Harbor (antique commercial port) in Yenikapı area and Yenikapı rescue excavations carried out between 2004-2013 at Istanbul University Yenikapı Shipwrecks Application and Research Laboratory.

The Byzantine shipwrecks in Yenikapı rescue excavations were examined in the area where the seminar was held and information was given about the scientific methods used.

Department of Architecture hosted Dormakaba Marketing Manager Cihan Gülbiter and Project Marketing and Communications Manager Yasemin Demircioğlu at our university within the scope of Contemporary Building Materials course conducted by Instructor Merve Betül Güler. During the seminar held on Tuesday, November 5, comprehensive information was given on doors, door fittings, automatic sliding doors, revolving doors, lock-hinge systems, glass systems, electronic access control and data systems, movable partition walls. Thanks to the V-ray glasses that the company brought as a gift, our students had a pleasant time and had different experiences.

IKU Culture Point will commemorate Mustafa Kemal Ataturk on the 81st anniversary of his departure on Sunday, November 10. IKU Sign Language Choir will give life to the songs of the Turkish National Anthem and Atatürk's favorite songs. Ali Suat Urguplu'nun “Why Ataturk?” will continue with the conference titled. The ceremony will be held at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center between 09.00-11.00.

Ataturkist Ideology Association , within the scope of November 10 Atatürk's Memorial Day, will carry out "Respect to Atatürk - Anıtkabir Visit". The event in which Anıtkabir and the 1st Turkish Grand National Assembly will be visited and is going to be held on November 9-10.

Anitkabir Visit and Sapling Planting Event

The Young TEMA Club , within the scope of November 10 Atatürk's Memorial Day, will organize  “Anitkabir Visit and Sapling Planting Event” on November 15-16.

The Department of Art Management continues to organize Alumni Interviews in order to bring together our graduates working in different disciplines in the field of art and culture. Tuna Pektaş, Coordinator of Evliyagil Dolapdere, will be the speaker of the event. Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall will be hosted between 13.00-15.00 on Tuesday, November 12th.

The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design will organize the IAD0949 Architectural Photography Course Technical Trip under the supervision of the Deputy Head of Department Doctor Instructor Aliye Rahşan Karabetça within the scope of IAD0949 Architectural Photography course. Fener, Balat, Sirkeci and Eminönü districts will be practiced with technical knowledge taught for photographing and will be held on Saturday, November 9 from 09.00 to 19.00.

MEKAN 2019 Interior Architecture Students Graduation Project Competition Colloquium and Award Ceremony will be carried out on Wednesday November 13th between 15:00-18:00 in Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

Sorry, I joined this university a little late. I'm sorry I found out I missed a lot of true life experiences. In July 2012, I started to work as  General Assistant Secretary. As an IKU member, respectively at the Departments of Registrars and Health Sciences , I am fondly working at this university. By supporting my daughter, my only child, with all my strength as a living witness of what education brings to human beings; I strive for her to be a conscientious, compassionate, qualified individual and also to complete her education, I am especially in favor of educating girls for the development of society. That's why I'm trying to be a good mother. As a person who is solution-oriented, who finish the work on time and who work in a group, I am so lucky that I came across very good colleagues.
