Challenge Tips

Granted I do not have very much patient care experience, I  do however have a job as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at a LEvel 1 trauma center Emergency Department laboratory and am a certified phlebotomist. I do not do volunteer hour yet because with school, work and a social life I cannot find the time but would like to in the future.

It's a great advice to get a job as volunteer or paid help in areas mentioned above! First of all, it will bring experience and confidence. Secondly, it provides extremely important help to nursing staff, as many places don't have Tech or CNA's, so all workload must be done by nurses.

I am a volunteer EMT, and once I obtain my nursing license I hope to work on becoming a paramedic so I may volunteer as one considering the high demand for paramedics who work for free. Once I am a nurse, I also plan to put more focus into organizations I am currently within and wish to be a part of as a lifelong member. These include the Terry Foundation, Sunrise Rotoract Volunteering, and the American Red Cross. I love helping people, so finding a way to do so both within and outside of my career path brings me happiness.

I work as a PCT, which has been fun, even if it can sometimes make balancing schoolwork a bit harder. I find being involved fun since it gives you something to do and you get to work with others to make things better for others. I hope to do more volunteer and involvements when I become a nurse.
