Boss Bottled Tonic Hugo Boss for men

Apple and Bitter Orange and a bit of ginger that's all I got out of it. This fragrance also has terrible sillage on my skin.

Its a very nice fresh smell and the sillage and longevity are not as bad as most say (for me atleast).
The dry down is a very nice woody-ginger-cinnamon scent and it doesnt smell synthetic at all.
8/10 its very good but the performance is poor for some people.

Smells great, but doesn't last at all. Too expensive for what it is, however.

I had low expectations for this fragrance, given that it seemed like just another flanker from a house that I generally think is mediocre and not worth the time. It smells pretty good, though, and its citrus opening is somewhat reminiscent of those old-school gentlemanly fragrances: bright and spicy, with a ton of ginger and a noticeable geranium note giving it an aftershave-y feel.

The issue, as the votes would suggest, is performance. Fragrances of this genre are not meant to perform well but Bottled Tonic only lasts a couple of hours on my skin, and the base notes are barely detectable. It's nice enough used as a body spray to freshen up, but I really think it would work better as a straight-up aftershave balm.

Boss Bottled Tonic definitely belongs in the gym category of fragrances… perfect for high heat. 200ml highly recommended cause you need to spray more than usual and it doesn’t get cloying when over sprayed. If you love the Boss Bottled line you will definitely love this one too, it carries BB’s apple citrusy note very refreshingly well. Projects cleanly for about an hour then it becomes a skin scent. For me the apple note is not the green apple type, it’s more closed to the red apple if you get what I mean. I don’t get the ginger and cinnamon note but I do sense the clove in the back-end of the exhale. All in all a great flanker in the Boss Bottled line.

In the opening I dont pick up any Bottled DNA, it smells very faint with citrus tonic like scent, after a while Bottled resemblance starts to come in the background and you can pick up more of its sillage. Its basically watered down version of Bottled with a splash of tonic. Its ok for me. In potency does not stand out enough as Bottled (which I love) nor as a freshie. Only true Bottled lovers will appreciate this for what it offers.

To everyone else, this Tonic flanker might come out as a weaker version of the OG, maybe a bit more citrusy.

I really enjoy the fresh citrus scent. It's nice and light, too, so I think it's very easy to wear. It's just that the longevity is very weak: after 3 hours it's already gone.

The fragrance itself is not weak, just not enough sprays are being applied, I sprayed 15 times and the longevity was between 6 and 8 hours, projecting 1.5mts for about 2 hours, then a bubble around you for the next 3 hours, then the next 1 to 3 hours it turns to a skin scent.

So dont be a sissy sprayer and dont try to punish such a good summer fresh fragance.

Spicy and Green for a Little While

I've mostly avoided scents with below a 4.00 rating because, well I had to start somewhere, and even that starting point has failed me about 1 in 4 times so far. But I made an exception for this fragrance because of the word "tonic." I'd never tried a "tonic" fragrance before, and I was curious enough to get a sample, not a bottle.

Clearly, "tonic" is a marketing term of art here that Boss uses because they'd run out of labels for their endless flankers, all of which I've liked the opening and dry down of the scents well enough. But with a couple of exceptions, though I like the newer bottle designs, it's ended there. Boss has mostly earned its rep for mediocrity. Of course, none of the top notes of this frag survive the dry down. That's to be expected. Maybe a hint of the ginger hangs on a bit longer here (I could be hallucinating that), but what you're left is wood, green and some vetiver with some spice on top, just enough to make the woody greenness sharp and fresh. It's fine. However....

Though this smells fine, is inexpensive, is inoffensive, not cloying at all, not headache inducing or anything awful like that, projection and longevity are below average, even for this price range. This is a skin scent only in 1-1.5 hours. Barely that at 2.5. No way it makes 3. No one in the elevator with you is going to choke. It's office wear that will most likely go unnoticed and uncomplimented. Not an outdoor playtime scent. Not a good choice for the gym. Definitely not a date scent. So, what's left?

I have a couple dozen bottles of fragrance in this scent category with better performance. Even some of the more feeble Nautica and Burberry scents I wasted money on and gave away performed as well as this. Yes, it's that weak. So why would I buy a bottle of this? It's a definite no...and I haven't selected any seasons or hours for wear because...why bother?

It's a nice fragrance but with very little punch after the first spray.
Longevity is OK 4 hours ish which in the height of summer in my opinion is about right as I would then change my scent for the evening.
You could wear this for any function

Smells like gin tonic...fresh. but sits very close to the skin. I prefer versace man eau fresh. Similar but better.

My first fragrance, the longevity is good for me tho (6 hours) its very fresh and safe.

I really love this fragrance, it’s so fresh and clean. It’s a shame that in terms of performance it is so weak, there’s absolutely no longevity at all. Not what you expect from Hugo Boss. Hope they improve this in the future.

Bought this one at the same time I bought Boss Bottled, the original, and Ferrari Black. I may just say I bought one of the three 3x because they all smell the same, with the Tonic actually lasting longer on my skin. I think the longevity on this is okay for the scent profile it bring. Would've picked the Ferrari over these ones for the price/oz.
Great fresh "just out of the shower" scent to hang out in warmer weather, not too formal, pretty casual indeed. Spicy and a bit oceanic when compared to the other two scents. However, this is a good pick only from discounters, not worth full retail.

Boss Tonic shares DNA with Versace's fresh Man Eau Fraiche on the aquatic spectrum, although after 15-20 minutes, it deviates slightly from VMEF and recoils back to its root smelling like Boss original bottled.
Purely from personal preference, I kinda like Versace's version more perhaps because Boss Tonic doesn't seem to last as long as I would have liked. That being said, it is a clean fresh men's fragrance in its own right that cannot be knocked. If any wants to get their hands on 60/65 ml of it, PM me and I'll be happy to sell.

Really easy versatile spring/summer fragrance, also perfect for the office as it gives a fresh, clean feeling to make you feel awake but won't get stuck up your colleagues noses. Longevity is lacking at max 3 hours, but I wouldn't say it's a loud fragrance that needs sticking power. Opening is nice and bright with apple and dries down to a fresh deodorant smell.

Blind buy, Scent is pleasant, non offensive. It seems like a very good business men's fragrance. Would be a really good choice for a job interview or business meeting. Very, Very weak. Very, Very low performance. weaker than an aftershave. priced low but a low value because I does not last At all. maybe 10 minutes. would not buy again based on very very poor performance. it's a shame because it does smell really good

I received a sample of this from my local Macey’s and I’m so glad I did! I instantly knew I had to own it. It’s very underrated unique scent. Still has original #6 dna but it’s a way fresher woodier take. I prefer this over the original 100%! Signature scent worthy. Lasts about 4 hours on my skin but that’s about what you’d expect. This becomes an inner bubble scent for a few more hours before disappearing. Blind buy approved imo. Just gorgeous! All the notes harmonize beautifully!
Edit: the more that I wear this the more I smell a soapy clean vetiver. Still really enjoy this profile. Clean and unoffensive. I wear it to Work. I bring a small 2ml decant and refresh mid day.

This is like a fresher but more dilute version of the original Boss Bottled. The citrus opening doesn’t last long and within 30 minutes the apple-cinnamon notes become more pronounced and after another 30 minutes the woody base notes dominate. Those notes stay on my skin for a good 4-5 hours with an intimate projection.

If you have original Boss Bottled EDT you really don’t need this in your collection. This is more of a hot weather fragrance, whereas Boss Bottled EDT can be worn year round. I won’t be buying this again, although it still is a pleasant scent.

Smells great but it doesn't last at all. A waste of money.

I really regret this blind buy. Very weak sillage, very low duration. The smell is nice and reminds me of Arko shaving soap but still not worth the price in my opinion.

This fragrance has got to be the worst performing fragrance from the line. My goodness performance is dismal. Weak is an understatement because it is terrible on projection, silage and longevity.
The fragrance itself has so much potential and i enjoy it. As to why a fragrance can be so poorly formulated from Hugo Boss, is beyond me. In fact it should be illegal to sell such poor qualify at that price.
intimate sits close to skin without a trail is the closest current available rating but this things does not even sit on the skin.

One of the sexiest, fresh fragrances on the market. Love how bright and fresh this scent is. Had this one as a gift from my wife and she loves the scent so thats always a good thing. Still keeps the Boss Bottled DNA and freshens it up perfectly for warm weather. Not one that lasts particularly long but is a must buy for its freshness and sensational scent. Absolutely love this one just a shame about the performance.

Not all perfumes should project the same. I'm more than ok with having perfumes that are more intimate or discrete. This is a lovely scent, it would be extremely hard to find someone who doesn't like it... I'm not saying everyone would preffer it!, I'm saying almost everyone would like it. I can see this perfume in an enviroment or situation where you don't want to shine a spotlight at you

Tonic is such a great scent.
If you want to smell Nice. Clean. Fresh, Woodsy... This is perfect!
It does last all day... but... It's Subtle.
Two-Three sprays of Tonic on your chest is perfect.

If you're looking for something that someone across the room will smell... I would recommend Joop, Ultra Male, Eros... and there are many other options of Beast Mode Colognes out there.

Purchased a sample vial off of FragranceNet. A good, fresh air springtime cologne. Had to wear this one a second time to review it because my first time wearing it I could hardly smell it. Applied double the amount on my wrists, arm and neck and it smells good. The primary scents that I pick up on are the fresh green apple, the geranium and the zesty ginger with a light vetiver base. Overall good, but I wouldn’t buy it simply because it didn’t “wow” me that much and the projection is just not there. I had to apply about 10 sprays to get a result of any kind. If you apply a single spray on each spot, expect it to last about 6 hours, if you apply two sprays (which I recommend if you’re gonna get it) expect it to last about 9.

Well, what can I say? Another fresh out the shower fragrance. The smell is good but the performance is just below bad. I´d recommend it for occasions like going to the gym where you don´t want a huge scent cloud to follow you around but apart from that there is not a lot you can do. It´s just way too weak to get you any attention even when people come close. Not sure I´d recommend this to anyone who´s looking for a new signature scent.

It's ok, the most average fresh fragrance you can get. The opening is very nice, but after an hour its gone.
It's one of those fragrances that people around me love, but I don't really like to wear this one.

I think it's a very safe blind buy, if you need to get a fresh fragrance, it is also the fragrance I started out with.
To me it smells like a refined axe body gel.

Instead of wearing this one for summer, I am more of a fan of Jill Sander Sun Men, I find that its better, since it's cheaper, more interesting and lasts longer.

Here's my review:
Scent: 5/10 (very average, got out of the shower type scent).
Performance: 3/10, lasts like an hour, then I have to spray it again.
Sileage: A person has to be very near to scent this, like 20 cm away.
Age range: Fits all.

The name says it all, TONIC. Fantastic fresh/bright/citrus opening with a generic dry-down and poor longevity.
This one truly is all about the opening and it never gets old. Boss Bottled DNA underneath it all but never really gets very heavy or overly sweet.
Great for daytime, spring/summer.

Same thing really, like with the bottled.
Nothing can be catched to me through the alcohol.

I write my reviews for my own future reference.

The opening has a generic alcoholic but slightly citrusy and bright tone, but after this it mellows to a more fresh and slightly fruity and sweet tone. Not very strong. It is present, but not saying much either by design, or not. When it comes to this type of scent (whatever these tonics are trying to get to), so far I prefer this one. At the same time it's value is only ok as it didn't seem to last long. I don't like the whole soapy sports scent category, but if I was looking to toss something cheap-ish into a gym bag, and not cry over if it breaks, this would do the trick.

Edit: Blind testing again, all I got was generic, clean, warm and fuzzy men's cologne. Eh.

Its ok. Mainly bitter orange fresh opening, then you get the ginger and a woody base. Duration is 2-3 hours.

This is so fresh and smooth. This is perfect for the office or anything casual. If you have to wear a shirt and tie or just a plain white t-shirt in the middle of the day time then this is perfect. It smells like the original Boss Bottled but just a little more fresh and less sweet. It's a great fragrance for very basic times throughout the day. This could be good for the gym but it also has a solid professional side to it. This is a nice one!

It's a straightforward simple fragrance that smells really good, tonic is a perfect name. Light, fresh & clear woods, ideal for hot days & offices. For a layering tip go with D&G light blue forever as base & boss tonic on top, it's stunning from the start & gets better as it dries down.

Cinnamon and ginger from top to bottom w citruses popping up now and again, hard pass for me. Doesn’t even smell good or refreshing.

3 sprays on the same spot doesn’t even project after 2 hours — can’t decide whether it’s a good thing or bad considering the scent is definitely a no go for me.

Initial scent is fresh and vibrant but shortly after once dried it’s a very synthetic cheap smelling scent. Picked it up for $40/100ml as a cheap gym bag thing for work but I wouldn’t pay much more than that.

This is a fragrance that smells good while it lasts on your skin. Hugo Boss Boss Bottled Tonic slightly brightens up Boss Bottled into a summer daytime fragrance. One of a few fragrances that have a bitter orange that I don't get repulsed by.

Hugo Boss Boss Bottled Tonic opens with some Boss Bottled trademark apple, but adds bitter orange and Grapefruit into the mix. In the mid you get Boss Bottled trademark cinnamon but it is balanced by the ginger which is common in fragrance flankers branded as a Tonic for whatever reason. Azzaro Wanted Tonic for example has the citric ginger open as well. The base is hardly noticeable sadly.

Boss Bottled Tonic is a spring, summer scent. Might work in warmer early fall days too. It works best as a dumb reach for right out of the shower or in the locker room. It can work for a workout since performance isn't that great. It lasts 2-3 hours tops and off my skin doesn't project that good.

Hugo Boss Boss Bottled Tonic is a fragrance I'm torn on. On the one hand, it is a nice casual but fleeting summer scent. On the other hand, I have seen rue21 fragrances perform better than this designer scent. I think a 6.4 is in order for Tonic. I like the scent and it is a good summer alternative to Boss Bottled, it just doesn't perform well at all.

IDGI. One more reminder not to listen to the ladies at the perfume counter as Macys. Barely noticeable, weak, nothing to really say about it other than its weak. Sometimes weak is good.. but there is nothing to diferentiate it from any of the more generic colognes.

When you want to wear Boss Bottle Intense but it’s summer. This is great summer fragrance done right as a flanker. Highly underrated.

MODERATELY FRESH CLEAN SLIGHTLY WARM/SPICY/SWEET

smells of doing laundry while baking/cooking an apple/cinnamon dish (the cinnamon apple ginger combo makes for a slight gourmandish accord), bright sparkling citric opening, along with a slight spice apple pie accord (like Boss Bottled #6, just not as bold), i even detect a light fresh clean + cocoa butter like accord when fully dry (like applying cocoa butter fresh out of the shower);
has some depth for a 'generic' 'mass-appealing' 'freshie', stays clean & fresh start to finish, all the notes are fairly light so projection isn't the best but it isn't terrible (just spray a lot, so light can't over-spray);
really good composition, smells really good and i'm not even a fan of Boss Bottled #6 but Boss Bottled Tonic isn't super sweet like Boss Bottled #6, 'mass-appealing' most will like the scent; the fragrance is light but still detectable/noticeable within arms length; day-time spring/summer/fall application.

Projection/Sillage' is GOOD, nice scent bubble within about 3 ft for 1-2 hours, then very in-close.

Performance/Longevity is DECENT, on fabric last about 5 hours

Great scent, poor performance.

This is a very good masculine freshie, that unfortunately has major performance issues. Longevity and projection is minimal. On skin it's weak and pretty low projecting. On clothes it is better, but still poor.

I also agree with another reviewer who said that the bottles do not last of you own them for very long.

They should make an intense version just to do the scent some justice because even though I love the smell and own a bottle I am always reminded of how weak the performance is on it

Anything you can say about Boss Bottled, make it fresher with more citruses and a bit dialed back on the sweetness, and you've got Boss Bottled Tonic. Appropriate for any age, any time of year especially as a gym scent or as a warm weather casual scent to beat the heat. Performance is pretty bad, about an hour or two tops no matter how much you use pretty much, but if you can find it for around $30-35, it's a hot deal and I'd suggest it to anybody especially if you know and love the original Bottled or the EDP Intense version. Overall score: 8/10, but with some room for improvement in terms of performance and the fact that it basically smells like the original.

Seriously weak performer, but scent is so lovely. Also very safe, nearly impossible to dislike. Fairly affordable so spray a lot and reapply.

Got a sample vial with my last purchase. Worn it twice and love it. Super fresh, ginger, and citrus scent for warm weather. Can be dressed up or down, it's a great one.
In my collection, Hugo Red and Armani Code Sport are similar and I would rank this as my favourite.

Hugo Boss Bottled Tonic is a pleasant enough warm temperature scent. The longevity & projection are simply average and as said below, it's no game changer! I do like this very much but it lacks that Wow factor. A great day time fragrance and office type scent that is far from being offensive and will get you the odd compliment, but it's staying power let's this one down. 7 out of 10 for me for a mid-range and pleasant kind of fragrances!

The Good - Smells incredible. Very strong notes of green apple and grapefruit. I had a small sample vile that I kept around for quite sometime so that I could smell it whenever I wanted to improve my mood. Sort of like an Essential Oil.

The Bad - The longevity/projection is terrible and lasts maybe 25-45 Minutes at best which makes it extremely overpriced..

Simply put, if you are into the freshies, this one is a good one to have in the lineup, that could be a good dumb grab, daytime, office scent and everyone will enjoy it.

The fragrance longevity is o.k. but, it's to be expected as fresh ones, tend to be light and fade but, they are still there, you just have to stick your nose into it after a few hours.

This is easily one of the best summer fragrances I've ever smelled. One way to overcome longevity issues is to double spray the same spot. The more oil, the longer the fragrance will last.

Boss is an underrated brand in my opinion. It seems like they maybe put out too many options and flankers for people to really talk about them. But most are decent. This to me is a wonderful gym or office scent. Really it could be so much more; however with 250+ scents I’m usually leaning to more obscure brands and what not. Don’t sleep on this. Maybe some people call it a generic crowd pleaser... but is that a bad thing?

One of the best men's perfumes ever. If you wear this, I would compliment the hell out of you.

This smells like a luxury hotel. Fresh, handsome, elegant, and comforting. It is light and easy on the nose so it will be great for when you don't feel like wearing a strong, leathery-scented perfume which sometimes can be headache-inducing. My man loves this perfume and I, too, love it on him.

Btw, it smells similar to Hugo Boss Bottled No. 6, so you really don't need to own both of them. :)

performance issues with Tonic....within 1 hour scent has vanished. Smell is a freshy. I like Boss bottled Unlimited (white bottle) better.

Refined and more modern version of the original without the vanilla. I don't have performance issues with my bottle. If you like the original then you'll probably like this as well. I do.

I just bought a 200ml bottle but I ain't received it as yet. I checked this out on YT reviews and all say they got 5-6 hours longevity from it. The projection is mild and it's a Spring & Summer scent that don't do great in the colder months. That's where HB bottled come in for those times. All the reviews are positive and I've read some here where they are just talking out of their backsides not having but just to criticise it. Pay not attention to because they are just idiots!

Ill provide an update soon and tell you what I think. It won't far off those on YT because they are generally fair in their reviews.

Its a really good scent but unfortunately its performance and projection leave a lot to be desired. There's a likeness to boss bottled but with all the honey and cinnamon stripped out. That being said it has a dry sweetness of its own, it's a somewhat unique scent that's gentle and refined. There's a bit of spice, a bit of powder, its fresh but it stays very close to the skin.

Compliments? I only got one while wearing it, whilst out shopping (30 mins after application) a women approached us and asked my wife "oh my god I have to know what perfume you're wearing? I love it". My wife explained that it was actually me as she wasn't wearing perfume that day. I thought that was interesting.

Personally I liked it more as I got to the end of my bottle, but it never lasted on my skin long enough to warrant buying another one.

Brought this a while back, it smells lovely, but after 10 minutes & multiple sprays, it’s just impossible to smell without putting your nose on your wrist & sniffing hard.

Such a shame because for the 10 minutes you can smell it it’s lovely.

Yes this is quite light but scent is good. It's like the orginal Boss Bottled without vanilla and for that reason this is so much better. Some how it reminds me Tommy Hilfiger - back in the days (2000). Longevity and sillage aren't great but sometimes it's better not to smell same frag whole day and also heavy scents are so last season.

Believe or not I'll give this 9/10

Pretty much the same as Boss Bottled Intense. What was the point of them releasing this??
And it also has that AWFUL dry scratching cheap pine coffin wood scent strong in the dryoff.

Wow, this fragrance is WEAK! Might be one of the weakest fragrances I've ever smelled in recent years. Sprayed multiple times on my hand and can barely get a whiff of it with my nose right on my hand. You get a tiny bit of fruity citrus and ginger, but it's barely detectable. I'm usually not one to complain about fragrances being weak, but this one is just pitiful.

Smells like someone took a shower with the strongest soap they could find and took deodorant, cinnamon, apple, and other spices to rub on themselves.

It's a nice scent. The citrus-wood blend is billed as being refreshing and sophisticated. This fragrance is elegant, fresh and light. I really enjoy it. It opens up with like fresh fruity then dry down is woody. This perfume is good for the spring and summer. I like Boss Bottled Tonic by Hugo Boss. Highly Recommended.

Was looking for something super fresh and bright for summer. Opening on this is great! Citruses and ginger and the apple make for a really bright opening. You also get touches of some spices, nothing particularly strong or recognizable, mostly to give it a little character. After the citruses burn off, like 15 to 20 min, I get almost a rubber sort of smell. It's not completely off putting, just a little awkward and it's not too overt. Longevity and sillage are about what everyone else says, not great, but I don't mind for freshies. I got maybe 4 hours and completely gone and radiates within arm's length. We'll see how I feel after the 8ml I got as to whether I'll upgrade to a full bottle... probably not though.

It's a perfect gym scent. Lasts for the duration of your workout and then it's pretty much gone. I don't really need to go into too much more detail about its longevity issues as thats been covered. It's a good scent if you just need to go out for a very short while, it's light and easy to wear. Once you get home it will probably have gone so you can wear something else. I don't mind that - I don't need all my fragrances to be monster performers. Sometimes its nice to be able to wear a couple of different fragrances in a day and Boss Bottled Tonic allows you to do that.

Obviously similar to the original, minus the vanilla. It's essentially like BB/BBI but without the base.

Nice scent but definitely not a WOW for me. The longevity and projection are average.

I love this; it's perfect for summer and hot climates. Despite the already stated projection and longevity issues, this provides a feeling of "coziness" like no other fragrance that I've ever tried. Unlike Bulgari Blu, where the ginger is overpowering and soapy, the ginger here is light and refreshing. Go ahead and over spray; for the price, it can't be beat!

this feels oceanic and fresh, light. its not aromatic really, as it dries after about an hour i get a light fresh wood, with a dryer feel.
oceanic to me but not watery per se. not salty oceanic or seaweed stuff like that. just a straight clean and fresh scent.

I remembered spraying this at a duty-free last year and thought it smelled really great so I picked up a small bottle as a knock-around hot weather scent but I'm not really loving it unfortch. Okay but not great smell and the longevity is really as bad as people say. Like 1 and a half to two hours total. Not loving this one.

It's very fresh and a really nice summer scent.
But after trying it out for a couple of days I definitely regret spending money on it since it projects really poorly and the longevity is a joke, my Gin Tonic lasts longer than the Boss Bottled Tonic.

shelly below me summed it up pretty perfectly. a freshie, shower soap type smell with a little spice that is good for younger males, even teens, and would also work for older guys.

it's nice for what it is. just a basic freshie. I get no pepper or spice from this in the opening, but it gradually comes out in the dry down and it makes this one more unique and masculine.

it's a great smell, but it's pretty weak. stays super close to the skin. haven't had a chance to test out sillage yet. I do really like the smell, it's one of the best smelling basic freshies I've ever tried. but performance is really going to hurt the overall quality of this one. it's a very linear scent, but also manly and clean. it would be an amazing fragrance if it wasn't so weak

Very soft fragrance smells nice and clean and fresh.like pool water or sea water with lemon juice.
Like a shower soap for boys.

Pleasant enough, sorta similar to the OG Boss Bottled, only without the vanilla and more fruits in the bowl. Very light but nice to overdose spritz with.

Love the smell, like a can of Schweppes Grape tonic. Bitter sweet. Would pay full price if it lasted longer...now perhaps on a sale. Good hot weather-freshie though.

Very nice, opens with a bright citrus and ginger that leaps off the skin. I really enjoy when a flanker has the originals DNA. This has the Boss Bottled core in the final dry down. I really like this fragrance and will enjoy it this summer, BUT its weakness is bad longevity. This has the great opening and for about two hours it’s really nice, after that you will get about 3 more hours of the Boss Bottled dry down. Projects ok for about three hours. If you know your time window for when you would like to rock this scent, it will work and projects alright for a time. I find most summer oriented fragrances suffer from this, but I have learned to accept it. Cheers all.

Very pleasant fresh summery scent, could be easily unisex à la CK, imo. I like the apple note in the opening a lot. But. It is incredibly weak, no staying power at all and I am not someone who is very strict in that regard.

Truth in advertising...I love Boss Bottled so loving Boss Bottled Tonic is a very easy leap. what I like about Tonic is that it brings the Boss Bottled DNA into warmer weather where Boss Bottled may, perhaps, be too heavy. Really pleasant. compliment getter. best suited for daytime. average sillage. good longevity.

7/10: this fragrance is one that my wife got me. It’s quiet fresh and I can smell the cinnamon right off the bat along with the citrus notes. It’s super fresh but there is something about way it smells that’s off putting to me. It maybe the cinnamon. It just has this sharpness that I don’t like. It’s light enough and fresh enough to over look that though. I wouldn’t buy another bottle but it does get me intrigue about the Hugo line of fragrances.

This may not be ground-breaking, but it ticks all the boxes for a fresh, clean, likeable fragrance that simply works. If you want to know what gets compliments, this is it.

Mmm. Love it, way better than original. Well, it is pretty much original without cedar, which is game changer for me. I just don’t get it to smell pencil shavings when all other notes are gone. I have full bottle of #6, definately would swap it to this.

This is a great smelling scent; fresh, like clean linen. This fragrance can be worn day or night, Spring or Summer. The only issue that I have with this fragrance is its longevity; it simply does not last long in the EDT version. You may get about 1 to 2 hours before you will need to reapply.

This is a good easy going scent. It's perfect for work or any place you would want to use a safe scent. I get a slightly more fresh and fruitier version of the original Boss Bottled. Take the vanilla out of Boss Bottled and you might get this because the apple is still pretty prominent. This is a good one to have if you're a Boss fan like me and I think a lot of people that aren't looking for something loud will really enjoy this one. This is cool and slick. Great with a light colored suit on a warm day. I give this a 8.8/10

I really wanted to buy this fragrance since i got a very good price on a discounter.. but since the smell is nothing spectacular, although quite nice and the performance is really terrible i refuse to get it in my collection.. because im limiting my purchase since i got more than 100 bottles of fragrance now.. only good fragrance will get in..

The scent is amazing. A fresher/lighter take on Boss Bottled. Unfortunately the performance is terrible. Sad, because the scent itself is very crisp and fresh. You definitely smell the Boss #6 DNA in this. Could've been real special. Keep the bottle with you to reapply and it really isn't as bad as others have stated. I do only get about 3 hours of longevity with it though.

It smells good and I can definitely get the tonic out of this, which is something I really enjoy! This would really suit a summer day on the beach (of course this wouldn‘t make a lot of sense because it would get washed right off, but let‘s forget about that!).
The smell is not really sweet but does have a little hint of the original Boss Bottled, combined with it‘s very own Tonic smell. Maybe even a little on the bitter side?
I‘d totally buy this but the performance is completely unacceptable. A perfume doesn‘t have to last 12, 10, 8 or even 6 hours! But after 30-60 minutes I get absolutely nothing out of this. Really? That‘s just sad!
I‘m not the only one who thinks of it that way, it can be bought for a very cheap price almost anywhere. It could‘ve been so good but the performance is an absolute dealbreaker..

Nice scent, I think the performance is just fine. I only need stuff to last a few hours for an evening or a night out with my wife, not every fragrance needs to last 3 days unless you're someone who doesn't shower.

Even I couldn't detect the smell from the weakness of it.
Looking for better releases from Hugo Boss, something remind us of Boss spirit which has been discontinued!

Great watery frag. Just sweet enough. Very very well balanced.. nothing jumps out except that it smells great. Citrus/floral/watery and oh so smooth. By smooth I mean smooooth. Even smoother than starwalker (my favorite Mont Blanc). It actually smells like starwalker minus it’s sandlewood note.

Citrus and the Apple work great together. Not overpowering. Very linear and I’d say high school and up can rock this. Spring/summer day or night.. and fall/winter clubbing this works great. Got lots of compliments, very light and fresh.

Longevity is the main thing in question.. and I gotta agree this ain’t no marathon juice. Maybe the 100. Maybe. But hey, spray away. The ladies won’t complain. And if your boys do, tell em you don’t wear cologne for them. Great juice.

I get decent longevity and solid projection from this. Come one guys, its a fresh fragrance, it wouldnt be good if this was as strong as Kouros.
On the other hand, I think this is not fresh enough for the summer heat. I get extremely soft, immasculine scent, casual-semi formal, but very beautiful. Too sweet for summer, perfect for spring.

The new, fresh, day-time edition Boss Bottled Tonic in the spring of 2017...smell is same Boss Bottled, so weak longevity!so what about night time can put it?

Smells very similar to the original Tommy Hilfiger (I'd have to smell both of them together to determine differences). That is not a bad thing. I like it a lot. It's a very pleasant, light fragrance for spring/summer.

This is possibly my favorite boss bottled flanker. So light, crispy and refreshing...however just feels like it doesn't make enough noise. I know scents like these aren't designed to do that but it's the type of scent that is allowed to and won't offend anyone. If I bought this I would probably apply more than usual as its a little bit too light. Can imagine the hot weather would radiate it out a bit though.

Went to ulta and took like 9 tester samples of boss tonic . It’s Clean, fresh, generic, and u get a hint of the original boss dna in the background.
That’s all I can really say about tonic it’s definitely not a mind blowing release from BOSS ,they could’ve definitely come out with something more unique if they took their time

Particularly surprised with this fragrance. Very fresh, ckean, spicy, a summer fragrance which makes it also very versatile. You can wear it both day and night in my opinion. Sits close to skin and performance is moderate. In my view its also grrat for a summer clubbing experience. I ll give this fragrance 8.5/10

Clean, fresh and a bit spicy. Nice, but nothing really spectacular. Well, at least it doesn't smells like deodorant, like many fresh male colognes. It even has some class to it, it could be used in some formal occasions.
In this category of clean, spicy scents, i must say Gentlemen Only pleased me more. But again, this is not bad, just not a love for me.

People wear some old 80s powerhouse that last 2 days on skin and get mad when perfumes "Only" last 8 hours.

Jeez not all of us needs a perfume that last longer than most relationships.

People claiming this has poor longevity are either over spraying, under spraying, expect too much or are used to wearing very heavy scents and have lost the ability to smell.

I've gotten 4-6 hours easily each time I've worn this off of 4 sprays. If you think 4-6 hours is poor for an EDT then you need to rethink your expectations

I love this fresh & masculine scent a lot to be honest, but the longevity is terrible, lasted for just half hour and then you have to literally smell your skin in order to smell the scent again.

The apple pie people refer to from the original, plus fresh juicy sweet/sour orange. Doesn't smell edible though. Not really sexy either. Super nice office scent.

All I get here is another generic weak fresh fragrance (it looks more EDC than EDT). Nice and good smelling, but nothing really special or new. Nothing else (for now). Let's wait half an hour and I'll tell you later.

Well, after 30 min all I get is a watery "almost nothing" (without the "almost"), and I applied TWICE! (the second time after the first 10 min). It's gone! Like Houdini! (like someone else stated in another comment).

I have to re-review this because my first one was way off...

I have absolutely fallen in love with this stuff this summer! It is so fresh and clean, alluring and crisp. I feel like I just took an icy cold refreshing shower whenever I put this on. This is not formal at all in my opinion, rather casual paired perfectly with your favorite t-shirt and khaki shorts as you're preparing to head out for a fun and hot day in the sun. I wear this quite frequently to work and get very positive feedback. One girl in particular absolutely loves it and follows me around whenever she can to catch whiffs of my scent trail. It definitely seems very hard to dislike so far!

In my first review I had stated that I couldn't detect any cinnamon at all, which is not saying much because my nose is pretty pathetic at picking up individual notes unless it's blatantly obvious. However, I do notice it now...barely. It's just there to add a very subtle spiciness to the overall fresh composition. I was really scratching my head when I saw that cinnamon is the most detectable note that others are picking up on from the note pyramid, but I think I understand now. It's definitely there, just not in the same context as a winter fragrance with sweet and spicy cinnamon taking over the lead role, if that makes sense?

Anyway....performance is solid for me. 3 sprays and it lasts an entire 8 hour work day. Even if I can't detect it, others have still been complimenting me long after I thought it was gone. Projection is moderate for at least 3-4 hours before fading to a skin scent.

It smells like Versace Eau Fraiche

Beautiful fresh scent based on the original. He keeps me 12h +. She is amazing!

This is the most unoriginal fragrance I have ever smelled. Its smell you can find it in any air refresher or cheap scented candles. Add to that the poor performance. bad flanker Boss, it's a pass for me.

Pleasantly supprised by this when i first tested as im not a fan of the BB range (dont mind BB intense but not enough to buy). Very pleasant and easy to wear scent, ideal for spring/summer. Casual fresh spicy scent, i get the ginger and spice at the start and a fizzy/tonic type of freshness, it doesnt change much other than some soft woods coming in later. Id describe it as a classier sports type scent, easy to wear in hot weather but with some depth to it, for the days when you dont want a power house but something more relaxed and easy going. The performance wasnt too bad for me, projection not great but average longevity.

I sampled this in Hudson's Bay. It is nice, safe (for office use), and to be honest; generic. While the associate really, REALLY, pushed me to buy this, I strongly turned her offer down. She told me that this was the #1 men's fragrance going right now. I almost had to laugh. The brand is highly credible, but I still like Hugo Boss' older releases compared to this one.

I am wearing it for the first time and well I got a compliment, but in the other hand someone who always is aware of my presence in the office told me: I didn't smell you, and I thought you were not here, some times I know you are here because I smell you even if I don't see you, and she made no comment of me wearing this new cologne. :-/
In my opinion so far after 7 hours of wearing it, I can tell it has become a skin scent and probably totally gone when I get home.
I can tell it has the core from the original flanker with some freshness to it, but short longevity and yes more suitable for the Summer that the original BB.
Anyway still my favorite flanker of the BB's is the Eau de Parfum version, but I just got BB Oud, I just sampled it and it promises a good performance.

A nice and fresh take on the original. I have tried many scents, and the permormance of Tonic is just the worst ever. Projection and longevity are non-existent. Boss managed somehow to reduce the already weak Bottled into something even less powerful. The name says it all, this is like 10% of Boss Bottled and 90% tonic water. Too bad, it does really smell good for a few minutes

I like it, At first its fresh and you can say generic and familiar.. But as it dries down the boss bottled DNA kicks in. really a fresher version of the original. kind of reminds me of tommy hilger .. that fresh yet apple pie type vibe. Overall a soft, and pleasant smell. Its not going to knock the socks off of any niche heads and its a DNA we are all familiar with.

Here is my honest and unbiased review. This is a very pleasant, light and refreshing scent. It's not strong, so don't go by the charts above because those are obviously misleading. As well as the note breakdown. I could not detect cinnamon at all. What I could detect was green apple, citrus and light woods. It is totally inoffensive and I don't think you could overspray even if you tried.

I get about 5-6 hours of longevity with moderate to soft projection for the first 2 hours. From there it just lingers close to the skin with faint whiffs noticeable every now and then. Today is only my second day wearing it and I've already received a compliment. There was a middle aged woman that told me she could follow me around all day because I smelled so good. I applied 5 sprays about an hour before this compliment.

Other people like it, I like it, that's good enough for me!

Smells just like a lighter, fresher version of the original. On no planet does it smell like Silver Shadow, that's one of the worst comparisons I've ever seen

Dont be so bad with this release, to me is so lovely, dont expect a complex mix or "deeper" side of bottled like "intense or perfume version", Tonic is a velvety floral semiaquatic cloudy and bright version of the original, totally easy to like in every transition with a short longevity but great projection. Versatile, so comfortable and some interesting combo at the end. Sometimes easy things are great. To be in a complex side we have another stuff too..

Tested side by side Boss Bottled Original on one hand and Tonic on the other. To me Tonic smells just like Boss Bottled with tuned down sweetness. The sweetness of Boss Bottled is too strong for me and makes me nauseous, so Tonic is the version I will be able to wear. Longevity-wise, I got nearly the same time from both.

Not worth buying it full price in the store.
Nice scent but not sensational. The description of a nice wearable fragrance that is inoffensive is just perfect. The description for this frag is how I feel about finding a lesser expensive body spray that is fresh and sharp for the summer. when I wore this, initially I loved it and it lasted about 2 hours. The drydown I truly enjoyed. The second time I applied this, I didnt feel the same enthusiasm for it and felt it was quite forgettable compared to some others I had tried. This might be perfect for the office though, worthy of trial but not worth spending too much for, in my opinion.

Not bad. Definitely a resemblance to the original but lighter, drier and less sweet. It reminds me of Davidoff Silver Shadow.

Giving this a test wearing right now, and yeah I agree- it's weak as hell! My friend tested the Bottled Intense and I tried this, 10 mins after applying I was struggling to pick up anything - it's just over 2 hours later and no lie, if I smell under my shirt then I can smell Fahrenheit lingering, which I applied at 8:30am (it's now just gone 5pm).


I would have expected this to be a kind-of aquatic fragrance but it smells very similar to the original, still. Very blasé towards it.

Really no need for a longer review because the performance is second to none. I do like the smell though but after 20-30 minutes it's gone.

I tested this today. So these are my initial impressions.

I saw it on a shelf in a local department store whilst I was shopping for other items. I had no interest in really trying this but I thought what the hell, its new so why not.

The lady spritzed my hand and to be honest I was impressed. Sharp, masculine and clean. Very sharp. I love sharp, clean scents. The ginger and grapefruit up top could slice their way through a ninja attack. Mega piercing but done wonderfully. I loved it. After the initial opening, you get the boss bottled dna coming through. But lighter, fresher and icey.

Its somewhere along the lines of a mix between Boss Bottled, Platinum Egoiste, Versace Eau Fraiche.

Ill test a few more times but I think this would be perfect for summer.

Has a slight gin and tonic vibe also.

Ive wore this a few times. Projection is pretty weak. Great for about 20 mins morphing to skin scent soon after. Longevity about 4 hours. I do really enjoy the scent quite a bit but you would have to carry an atomizer with you every time you wore it and bathe in the stuff. I wish the opening lasted longer. But it is called Boss Bottled Tonic. So its literally spray for a burst of sharp, fresh air and then its gone. Lasts on clothing but doesnt project off that either. Id happily accept it as a gift but wouldnt buy it I dont think.

Isn't this how old spice smells like? Also, I expected a dash of something bitter in this fragrance. I like the presentation though.

This scent is okay. I must say I really don't like the trend Boss is following with releasing a dozen flankers to Boss Bottled. The original Boss Bottled still beats this one in my opinion, and unless you're crazy about a slightly more grapefruity take on the original, I'd say save your money for something better.

I'm not really a fan of the Intense version, but it is in my opinion the best scent performance wise in the Boss Bottled line-up. This barely lasts 3 hours on me, and the sillage is weak. You might enjoy the EDP version of L'Homme Ideal by Guerlain which is far more original, pleasing and longer lasting than this one.

Ok here we have one true and honest review but nearly over 20 rates on the performance, without any statements, how can that happen? I mean 20 people voted "very long lasting" and 19 "enermous sillage" but how?

This one starts with a blast of citruses (grapefruit i think) and ginger! It's very refreshing and it represents well the name Tonic. Then, after 15min-30min the Boss bottled DNA appears with the cinnamon and a little bit of the green apple. But the Ginger is always present. Seems like L'homme by YSL but less powdery and more sweet. Basically the fusion between l'homme and BB. It's interesting. I like it but the opening its the best part. Need to try it more times.
EDIT: This lasts all day, and smells really good. I really like it. It's BB but with a refreshing touch with the addition of grapefruit and ginger. It has a moderate projection and after 3 hours it becomes a skin scent for the rest of the day. I'm always smelling it but its very close to the skin. It's definitely a good work scent and a spring-summer scent for casual days. It's a good addition for the line.
