  Mark Carney is the UN Special Envoy for Climate Action, Chair of Brookfield Asset Management, and Head of Transition Investing at Brookfield Corporation. Across these roles, he is focused on developing tools, guidance, and products for investors that will combine positive social and environmental outcomes with strong risk-adjusted returns.

  Mr. Carney was previously Governor of the Bank of England (from 2013 to 2020) and Governor of the Bank of Canada (2008 to 2013). Internationally, Mr. Carney was Chair of the Financial Stability Board (2011 to 2018), chaired the Global Economy Meeting and Economic Consultative Committee of the Bank for International Settlements (2018 to 2020), and served as First Vice Chair of the European Systemic Risk Board (2013 to 2020). Prior to his governorships, Mr. Carney worked at Goldman Sachs as well as the Canadian Department of Finance.

  He is a long-time and well-known advocate for sustainability, specifically with regard to the management and reduction of climate risks.

  Joanna Penn was appointed Treasury Lords minister in the UK government in October 2022, having been baroness in waiting (government whip) since 2020. She previously served as deputy chief of staff to prime minister Theresa May from 2016 to 2019, and became the youngest member of the House of Lords when she joined it in 2019. Until 2020 she was a member of the Lords Science and Technology Committee. Baroness Penn is also responsible for international climate and nature finance, and for ESG in financial services, including green finance, women in finance and economic security.

  Helena Viñes Fiestas is commissioner of the Spanish Financial Markets Authority (CNMV) and chair of the EU Platform on Sustainable Finance. She is also a member of the UN secretary-general’s High-Level Expert Group on Net Zero Pledges and of the European Investment Bank’s Climate and Environment Advisory Council. Before joining the CNMV Ms Viñes was senior policy adviser on sustainable finance for BNP Paribas and global head of stewardship and policy for BNP Paribas Asset Management. Prior to this she led Oxfam’s advocacy work on responsible investment and engagement with institutional investors in support of poverty reduction.

  Andy Agg became group chief financial officer of National Grid in 2018. Prior to this he held a number of senior finance roles across the group, including group financial controller, UK chief financial officer and, most recently, group tax and treasury director. Mr Agg trained as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and worked in a variety of roles there before joining National Grid in 2008.

  Rebecca Marmot is responsible for Unilever’s sustainability strategy and implementation globally. This includes embedding sustainability across the functions and divisions as well as heading external engagement, advocacy and partnerships across Unilever’s priority areas on climate and environment, health and well-being, and the social agenda. Ms Marmot joined Unilever in 2007 and held roles across corporate affairs and communications before becoming global vice-president of the newly merged sustainability and partnerships function. She previously worked in strategy consulting, including for the UK government and at L’Oréal. She is a non-executive director at the Global Solidarity Fund, and a member of the TENT Advisory Council.

  Rishi Kalra joined Olam in 2000, playing many roles in the business in Asia, Europe and Africa for over 20 years. Following the reorganisation of Olam—for which he led the project team—he became executive director and group CFO of Ofi, which provides sustainable, natural and plant-based ingredients for food and beverages. Mr Kalra spearheaded Finance for Sustainability (F4S) to lead Olam’s efforts to bring the rigour of finance to sustainability-related data, creating a numerical link to sustainability through an Integrated Impact Statement. He is founding co-chair of Accounting for Sustainability’s (A4S) Asia Pacific CFO leadership chapter, launched in 2021.

  James McCall leads a global team of sustainability innovators working to reduce HP’s environmental footprint, protect human rights and ensure world-class compliance and certification, to enable consumers, governments and enterprise customers to make sustainable IT choices. In turn this supports the next generation of circular innovation across the global economy. Mr McCall joined HP in 2021 and has been an active sustainability leader and champion across industry for several decades. Before HP he worked for 25 years at P&G in supply-chain, engineering and innovation positions, including as global climate and supply chain sustainability leader.

  Since October 2022 Jean-Paul Servais has been board chair of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the membership organisation of the world’s financial securities and markets regulators. He is also chairman of the IOSCO European Regional Committee and served three successive terms as vice-chair of the IOSCO board between 2016 and 2022 before being elected chair. Between 2017 and 2023 Mr Servais chaired the IFRS Foundation monitoring board. Besides his international responsibilities he is chairman of the Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority. In this capacity, he is a board member of the European Securities and Markets Authority and the European Systemic Risk Board.

  Anna Palazij is vice-president for ESG reporting and strategic investments within the Corporate Office of Sustainability at PepsiCo. Her responsibilities include reporting across all sustainability areas and advancing PepsiCo’s digitisation agenda in this space. She also leads sustainability strategic investments for PepsiCo to accelerate attainment of PepsiCo’s sustainability commitments globally. Ms Palazij has nearly 20 years’ experience in the sustainability field. In her prior roles at PepsiCo she led sustainability programmes for more than 60 North American beverage manufacturing locations, and launched Recycle Rally, a consumer recycling programme. Before joining PepsiCo Ms Palazij worked at General Electric in EHS management, operations and Lean Six Sigma roles.

  Ulrike Sapiro is chief sustainability officer at Henkel, an international consumer products and adhesives technologies company. She and her team are responsible for corporate sustainability strategy and governance, reporting and disclosure, as well as external and internal engagement on key ESG topics. Before joining Henkel Ms Sapiro held European and global sustainability leadership roles at the Coca-Cola Company, with focus on environmental and social issues, and at RWE Thames Water, a UK-based private water and wastewater company.

  Daniel Roth is head of ESG and sustainability management within VW Group’s Group Strategy and General Secretariat division. His main responsibilities include ESG strategy and ESG performance management, non-financial reporting, green finance and internal sustainability governance. Parallel to this he is liaison delegate to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). Mr Roth joined Volkswagen Group in 2003 and has held various positions with responsibilities for responsible supply-chain management, sustainability reporting and ESG ratings. He has been involved in several WBCSD projects as company representative, including “Vision 2050—The New Agenda for Business” (2010) and “Vision 2050—Time to Transform” (2020).

  Dave Madigan joined Diageo in 1991 in the Guinness Brewing Worldwide Research Centre, where he held roles in analytical, sensory, product development and applied science before joining Diageo’s global brand innovation group as marketing manager, where he covered Europe, Asia and North America for products including Guinness, Smirnoff and Johnnie Walker. He went on to lead the Guinness global product development team in Dublin and from there held several roles leading innovation for Diageo global supply in Europe, Africa and global travel. Mr Madigan has also held roles in operational excellence, strategy and supply chain development, and took up his current role leading Diageo’s climate change risk management in 2021.
