A similar technique was used to create each sample, so there is plenty of continuity to exploit as you layer, chop, loop and mangle as you create.

Some of the finest compressors, delays and tubes were used in the making of this outstanding collection, but no reverb. So go crazy with your own and don’t worry about losing all those pretty little details!

To make this demo I dropped 10 of the 50 samples directly into my DAW and set up some volume fades between them. I do not use watermarks. Instead, I allow the sounds to blend together a bit here and there. What I did NOT do is process the sounds in any way, which is how it’s always done here.

Instead of long sounds that might be favored for the creation of atmospheric or background elements in music, these are all quite short and rather ideal for the purpose of building grooves that will make people stop and take notice. Layering potential and low-mid-to-high range frequency textures reign supreme in this pack.

Expect to hear common kitchen items like dried beans and drinking glasses alongside active motion sounds like toothbrushing and metal machinery. Just don’t expect them to sound completely common, or even be revealed by name! Time was taken to select the right sounds, the right moments, the right textures, etc. But the priority of uniqueness drove the process.

"Polyrhythm" is a MIDI clip collection featuring a wide range of stacked Euclidean rhythms. Some are simple and others are complex. All will add a touch of funk to your projects the instant you drop them in. They’ve been designed to allow for easy layering to help you speed up the groove-making process. In fact, there are a minimum of three of the fifty 16-bar MIDI clips being used at any one time in the demo track. Each one triggering different sounds.

Every MIDI file (.mid) has an accompanying audio file (.wav) preview of the polyrhythm so you can audition before you even begin adding to your arrangement. How to use these MIDI files: 1. Browse the set Step and VariStep folders and use the audio previews to audition and select the polyrhythm you want to use. (Pro tip: Use the .wav files as side chain triggers for gates, etc!) 2. Notice that the name of each file discloses only 2 parameters (time signature and corresponding step count of each of the three Euclidean oscillators used to generate the polyrhythms) that can help inform your browsing. Other parameters, like note count, are not disclosed to help maintain a sense of discovery and surprise each time you browse. 3. Drag the MIDI clip into your project and place on a track that has either a sampler or synth loaded. 4. Discover, chase and enjoy the ensuing inspiration.
