New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author, Pam Godwin, lives in the Midwest with her husband, cats, retired greyhounds, and an old, foul-mouthed parrot. She traveled the world for seven years, attended three universities, married the vocalist of her favorite rock band, and retired from her quantitative analyst career in 2014 to write full-time.

Her interests veer toward the unconventional: bourbon, full-body tattoos, and tragic villains. Equally peculiar are her aversions to sleeping, eating meat, and dolls with blinking eyes.

3 Stars...For Now

I have read all of the Deliver series (some more than once...looking at you Van Quiso) and the entirety of the Tangled Lies trilogy (thrice over)...both series which come to a head in this book. Cole's book.

To say I was looking forward to this?

description

Therefore, it PAINS me to not have absolutely loved this thing.

Did I enjoy it? Yes.

I just didn't ADORE it and devour it the way I thought I would.

And giving this only three stars (for now, anyway?), makes me feel...well...

description

But I digress.

I think the main issue that prevented me from loving this more is the same issue I had with the last couple books in the Deliver series in general: the pace of the "aha, I totally love you" relationship moment.

***Possible spoilers moving forward***

After spending so much time with Cole in both series...after watching him basically pine for Danni for EIGHT years...I just had a hard time accepting that he would fall so hard and fast for Lydia within such a minimal time frame....And then stalk her across the world for over eight months. I mean, did I think Cole had it in him to stalk someone with whom he was angry or obsessed? Absolutely. Just not Lydia.

Right or wrong, the pace just didn't sit right with me. Things felt rushed. And it kept me from feeling invested in them as a couple, from feeling like the stakes were high enough to fervently turn the pages to see what happened next.

Simply put: I had no problem putting this down.

description

I did like it well enough to where I will probably pick it up and re-read it again in future hopes that I like it more a second time around. It was fun to see some of the Deliver gang toward the end. But for now...here we are.

All that said, I am sad to see this series end. I loved it as a whole and will recommend it endlessly.

I definitely looking forward to whatever Goddess Godwin comes out with next.

He was the most dangerous person she knew, and maybe, just maybe, he was the safest.

Complicate is the final book in Pam Godwin's 'Deliver' series, and honestly, it's the one I wanted the most. And it's all because of Cole Hartman. We first met Cole in Godwin's 'Tangled Lies' series and he's been my favorite of all her heroes ever since. I couldn't wait to read his story and learn more about him.

I'll be honest, I wasn't too sure about Lydia at first. I didn't know if she would be the kind of heroine that would be right for Cole, but with time, you could see just how perfect she was for him. The more you learn about her and her story, the more you love her. I adored these two together. I don't want to talk much about this story, because like the rest of the series, it's full of twists and turns and things you need to experience on your own. But I loved it. Especially the last half.

One of the other things I enjoyed about this was how Cole had made a family with the rest of the crew from 'Deliver'. I also love how some other characters came into play and how everything was wrapped up. There's a part of me that's sad that this series is over, it's definitely my favorite dark romance series, but I loved the way it ended. No one does dark romance/romantic suspense like Pam Godwin and I can't recommend these books enough!

I’m addicted to you,” she breathed.
“I don’t want to be an addiction. I want to be the love of your life.”

Reading this book was the most bittersweet moment. I've spent years completely obsessed with this series. And I've spent what feels like forever waiting for Cole Hartman's book.

Now if you haven't read the Tangled Lies trilogy yet. I highly recommend you do it before reading this book. Trust me. I remember the devastation of Tangled Lies and also the sense of understanding with how it ended. I also remember hoping beyond hope for a HEA for Cole, even though it didn't seem there would ever be a woman that would help him move past the love of his life. So I was equally excited for this book and utterly terrified that it wouldn't live up to my expectations.

The second Lydia appeared on the page, I knew I was in for a hell of a ride. It is no small feat to take a love like what Cole had for Danni and give him a HEA that feels right. What's even harder, is keeping that love for Danni but giving him a woman that is so much more fitting for him without diminishing what he had with Danni. For that alone, I bow down to the brilliance of Pam Godwin.
Don’t worry, sweetheart. I’m going to fuck you. I’ll fuck you so completely that shit on your face will smear and drip off. You’ll lose the fake eyelashes like the piercing in your lip. I’m going to fuck you until there are holes in your stockings, tangles in your hair, and bite marks marring those creamy tits. I’m going to ravage you, ruin you, and I’ll do it all while my hands are still bound in rope.”

Now I will say that the romance really took centerpiece of this book for me. This being the final book in the Deliver series, of course there's a dark suspense element that also plays out. And in true Pam Godwin fashion, it was filled with plenty of jaw dropping plot twists that bring the story to a full circle.

Lydia and and Cole's story spans over quite some time and full of pain and heartache. And I was so here for it! I will say that the ending did feel a little anticlimactic to me as a lot of it happened off the pages. However, the romance was so satisfying, that I couldn't really find it in me to care. And the epilogue? SO. STINKING. GOOD.

In all my expectations, I didn't think of a HEA this satisfying for Cole. If you're thinking of reading this as a standalone, do yourself a favor and don't. This series is meant to be read in order for the truly fulfilling experience. And you absolutely should read the Tangled Lies trilogy for the true one two punch of feels.

I can’t believe this is the end of the series! What a rocky ride this journey was!! I loved it all... even the painful parts. I have to admit, it was a huge relief to finally see Cole get his HEA! After many years of grief and loneliness, he finally got some payback. At first I wasn’t sure if I cared much for his heroine; but in true Pam Godwin style... she was able to make me like the villain!!! I had said to Steph ( my Buddy reader) that if she can make us come to love Van, then she can make us love anyone!!!😂 She doesn’t disappoint when it comes to Lydia; but I will admit that I had started to wonder if I would like her at all!

All in all, this was an exciting and adventurous ending to a unique series.. the beginning was a bit slow but once we got to the second half, things picked up and I just couldn’t put the book down!
I have always highly recommended anything that Pam writes... just be prepared to keep an open mind and think outside the box!!!

Thank you Steph for reading this whole series with me! It’s been one hell of a journey!!🥰💕😁

Complicate is the ninth and final book in the Deliver Series. For many years the ensemble of vigilantes have fought to protect and deliver those in need. In addition to the quest for fighting evil, they have found passion, brotherhood, and love. Cole Hartman has suffered great loss in his life and he has finally come to terms with the knowledge that he will never love again. When a mission turns unexpectedly dangerous for Cole he meets a woman that will turn his world upside down. Lydia is a woman on a mission and although she cannot deny her attraction to Cole she knows she cannot get distracted from her quest for revenge.

description
"The man was fucking potent."
Told in multiple POV, Complicate is a truly bittersweet read. Although I enjoyed every single moment, I am truly sad to say goodbye to this series. With raw passion, action, and espionage, Pam Godwin has crafted an unforgettable world in which I never want to leave. Cole and Lydia are a perfect match and with Cole finding healing and love after experiencing so much loss, I simply could not put this down!
"Together, they were explosive. Unstoppable."
Overall, Complicate will appeal to dark romance fans who enjoy complex characters with a lot of heart. Although each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the entire series from beginning to end. This is one series you do not want to miss. Although it's hard to say goodbye to this cast of characters, no doubt Ms. Godwin has already started creating greatness and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!

🖤🔥🖤This is an (F)BR with my girls Loyda, CC, and WAR! 🖤🔥🖤

Cole Hartman had become a lone wolf over the years. He reported to no one and operated outside the boundaries of the law. He was a strong, resilient, disciplined, detached, unbreakable, unstoppable force. Years of training and sacrifice had given him an inhuman degree of self restraint but some things were beyond your control. One of those things was love. When he's left with a broken heart, he doesn't put himself out there for seven years. He hasn't encountered anyone who compared to the love of his life. Then he crosses paths with a seductive beauty that tempts him in every way, but she also happens to be his enemy. He's finally met his match, but will he risk it all for a second chance at love?

-Flirtatious without even trying. Dangerous to the core. He was a gorgeous, tattooed beast. If she had a type, it was Cole Hartman.

-His silence pulled her gaze to his, and lord have mercy, those molten brown eyes imprisoned her, suffocated her, and refused to let go. He was so beautiful, so utterly unruffled and fearless, just watching her.

-He’d woken her from a long, cold dead sleep, and she wouldn’t change that for anything.

Complicate (Deliver #9) by Pam Godwin is a sensual, enemies to lovers dark romance about trust, deception, survival, secrets, lies, desire, obsession and raw need. It's the conclusion to this captivating series that I have absolutely devoured. It's packed with intrigue, danger, and suspense, and as always Pam Godwin is truly the queen of dark romance. Cole's book was the one I most anticipated. I've loved him and wanted more of him since I read the Tangled Lies trilogy. This cocky, sinfully sexy man is pure book boyfriend gold! <333

Genre: Dark Romance
Type: Standalone book 9 of 9 from Deliver series
POV: Third Person
Rating:

For years Cole Hartman lived off the grid, making use of his experience on the only passion he had left - his clandestine assignments with the Freedom Fighters. When an enemy threatened the safety of his family, he vowed to get to the bottom of it. But what he found might shift his priorities in life.

Let me just start by saying I dreaded this book since I first found out it’s happening. I love Cole and very protective of him. I never wanted him to end up with anyone and was so close to not reading this book but I endured to know his ending. As much as I hurt to say this, I didn’t hate the book lol!

He was the most dangerous person she knew, and maybe, just maybe, he was the safest.

I loved how much Cole put his heart on the line with care and selflessness. It pained me to see how long he pined for the one he loved. This is why I wished the claiming and declaration of love weren’t so drastic.

I’m appreciative that Lydia wasn’t another damsel in distress victim. I loved her background and motivations. And she got a bonus point for indulging in his proclivity. Even though there was a certain thing I wish was answered, I enjoyed the overall storyline and glad it ended the way it did.

Complicate is a story of revenge and justice. It is a fitting ending to this Dark Romance series.

Note 1:
Just to make it clear, while I don’t hate Lydia, Cole is still forever mine alone 😝

Note 2:
I liked that this is Cole’s story without much interference by the other characters in the series, but I’m disappointed my Van barely made an appearance.

Amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a fast-paced and exciting entry to the series.  Complicate is the kind of story where you don't want to put it down until you finish it, but really don't want it to end. The suspense is non-stop. The steamy scenes are raw, dirty, and very titillating. Read until my eyes hurt as I was anxious to find out more about Cole and Lydia's story. I will not go into the storylines, as I don't want to spoil your fun in reading the book for yourself. But it is definitely worth your time to read.

Another home run from Pam Godwin and I loved every single syllable in this book. The more you read the more you could not stop. At"Dublin, Ireland"(Three weeks later) I knew at this point it was a "fasten your seatbelt and enjoy the ride" moment that keeps me clinging to the plot for an exciting climax. Hated for it to end, but loved the ending. Pam did save the best for last. A tight story with well-defined and fleshed-out characters. What a way to end the series! Highly recommended!

Holy smokes, is it hot in here or is it HOTTT... Burning with unbridled lust and unharnessed excitement, the series comes to an end with a befitting episode. It doesn't get more adventurous or more sexier than this.
Raw sexuality with an edge of danger, is the best how to describe the much awaited Cole Hartman story. It reminded me of the good ol'spy thrillers I was addicted to growing up. Pulse poundingly racy, driven purely on adrenaline and testestorone, this final book in Vigilante series gives us the much awaited closure to their warring journey.

description

"Retired military? Undercover operative? Secret agent? The sexiest James Bond in real-life and fantasy? Who the fuck knew?"

Ever since I met Cole in One is a Promise, i've been a fan of this sexy biker,.his charm and sex appeal very powerful and enveloping. His heart has been a lonesome drifter trying to look for a cause to exist. And then his Swallow captures him.
She's sultry, sensuous and downright dangerous for his life, his existence and his senses. Wonder which one he loses first.!

description

The story is set at breakneck speed, runs out of the desert and crosses the Atlantic, a brief lull in Ireland and then back home to finish the job. All through this Amazing Race For Life, Colt and his salty, calculated swallow- Lydia are not more than a breath away from each other.
They do get time to set the beds ablaze, kiss till their clothes fall off and fuck till they're turned inside out.

description

They both find an oasis to sit and breathe amidst the raging war of flying bullets and dodging death at every step.
Ever lethal force of energy Cole Hartman comes on his own and shows his sentimental side hiding in the hardened she'll of an assassin/agent. He loves hard and fights harder. His new obsession, Lydia is way in over her head and is a trapped swallow in the serpents mouth. She can fight and cause damage, but her heart is soft and pulse thrums to Colts heartbeat.

"He’d never seen anything so shockingly exquisite, so uniquely beautiful. Flawless skin, luscious lips, and voluptuous curves. A statuesque woman with the appearance of a goddess, the heart of demoness, and a fashion style all her own. "

description

Pam is a master manipulator of emotions, her prose full of deliberate despair and anguish right next to gritty & cruel intentioned plot. She's free spirited, not easily contained in the trope and Genre boxes, hence this series in particular and her books in general encompass all the sentiments in the spectrum. Mindblowing sex with malicious torture, evil corrupt forces right next to fierce loyalties, she puts together characters in stark contrast but same underlying passion together. The readers get to sit back and enjoy the fireworks..
Pick up this Hot as lava, explosive volcano of passions and Chuck those panties.tjis sure is a one handed read

Even if I wasn't here for Cole from One is a Promise I prob would've read this anyway bc that blurb? 'Dangerous redheaded Russian spy?' That's an instant hell yes to Black Widow vibes and all my fantasies coming true

However, the first half of this was a shitshow. The dangerous Russian spy bit was a carefully crafted facade that I hatedddd. Mostly bc she couldn't pull it off and it was v embarrassing. Loved the idea, hated the execution. There were too many moments where I was cringing at how pathetic Lydia (h) came across, accepting scraps of intimacy from Cole (H), trying to come off tough and hard and thinking she was in charge when he was ten steps ahead of her. When they went their separate ways, I was genuinely confused why Cole would ever want to go after her. I will say I'm glad he did tho, bc Cole getting his stalker on was rly doing it for me. The man followed her across half a dozen countries for fourteen months just watching her from afar, and I was loving his unhealthy obsession. He was fantastic the entire way through this book, even when he was being degraded and held captive, he came out on top, dignity intact, never not hot af. After the Tangled Lies trilogy, I wanted Cole to get his HEA so bad but I didn't want the new woman to seem like a consolation prize, and tbh, I don't know if that was achieved :/ Lydia got way better in the second half when she stopped trying so hard, but I never felt completely convinced of their soulmate status. They had buckets of insta-lust and I swear a full 10% of this book was taken up by them describing each others physical features over and over (I get it, you're both hot) but yeah I wish they clicked a bit more personality wise. Still, love Cole a lot tho, he was amazing, and I'm v glad he won't be spending his life alone.

THE BEST FOR LAST

“Something was missing. Something significant. Troubling. Dread was eating him alive.”

[FYI: This last book feels like saying goodbye to an old friend. I still remember release of the first book DELIVER #1 in 2014. It turned me into an instant fan of Pam Godwin for life. She parlayed that book into a remarkable 9-book standalone series that has beguiled readers with a unique brand of dark, edgy romance and torrid couples ever since. I salute Ms Godwin for bringing well-written, creative, one-of-a-kind, unpredictable dark romances into my life. There's no one like her.]

DESIRE. PASSION. POSSESSION. OBSESSION. LETHAL DANGER. Pam put her “all” into the finale romance book of the DELIVER series, between ex-black ops assassin Cole and ethereal, Russian femme fatale Lydia. Cole Hartman is a crossover MC from the Tangled series in a bit of mad genius by PG that brings this series full circle. Haven’t read Tangled? WTF are you waiting for! That brilliant romantic triangle gives backstory and context to Cole, though not required to understand Complicate.

It was pure torture waiting for this book to find out how the incomparable series would end … and Pam Godwin delivered spectacularly with a mindblowing love story AND a bittersweet goodbye to the series. Cole’s the guy we know the least about in the Freedom Fighters group. A beastly gorgeous, tattooed, virile man of kinky desires (and quite the sex secret!) that takes the breath away, but also a terrifyingly enigmatic, untalkative man of mystery with lethal skills. In this life or death mission, Cole at last faces all his demons in a test of love, survival and destiny.

“A plan that isn’t dangerous isn’t a plan at all”

PG saved the best – and final complication -- for last. Fearless and protective Cole is the most alpha and respected of the guys, admired for his mad skills, and the perfect one to steal our hearts in a final tour de force love story that endangers and captures the whole vigilante gang in its claws. The crafty romance challenges Cole’s heart, and puts his love and friendship with the team on the line in the deadliest and riskiest mission of his life. This book is not for faint of heart and filled with gripping tension from the murkiest depths of darkness to the swooniest elevated romance. The story extends beyond captivity with unraveling twists and turns that take all of Cole’s skills to solve, which gives him new purpose and tests the resolve of both MCs.

This book picks up where Dominate left off and starts with a bang -- a “no other way out” setup of intrigue-wrapped-inside-a-mystery, and Cole volunteering to be a captive in the jaws of an unknown enemy to find out why the team is being targeted. His self-sacrifice, endurance, and reliance on training to survive psychological and physical torture was excruciating. A man willing to die for his friends and for love, with only his arsenal of skills for protection. Cole has finally accepted the loss of his only true love and given up on life when fate pits him against his matched other half in spirited, feisty and secretive captor, Lydia. Prepare for some mindblowing dynamics and role reversal. Cole’s a complicated man on a complicated mission, but Lydia’s a complication he can’t afford. Is a trained spook assassin any match against a wickedly erotic seductress with an impressive skill set of her own?

They’re a fascinating, lethal duo – a colorful explosion of opposites-attract that compliment each other to imperfection. The fierceness of Cole’s commitment to love was orgasmic, and the evolution of their relationship fit like interlocking puzzle pieces. What happens when a man meets an anomaly he can’t explain? When a mission becomes an obsession? When does one let go of the past and reach out to the unknown on blind faith? Is the risk worth the reward? Both MCs have to figure that out, but hide lots of tricks up their sleeves along the way and an arsenal of secrets that could rip everything apart. Tension winds, the clock keeps ticking, not as loud as their raging hormones, and trust is hard to come by. This couple burns hotter and brighter than a blinding corona. Who’s playing who?

“They were sweat and spit, feral lust and smacking flesh. Together, they were explosive. Unstoppable. Ethereal. Deceitful. Tragic. Whatever this was, it was impulsive, carnal, dangerous and real. Dangerous as hell.”

What an explosive, perfect finale. Danger, sex, technology, espionage, murder, revenge, and blackmail all come out to play a very wicked game that left me spent. The MCs’ captivating push and pull, cat and mouse, give and take, secrets and lies all rolled into a frenzy of domination and lack of control. Are they on opposite or the same sides? There never seemed to be a light at the end of the tunnel, and then all hell broke loose. A perfect match made in heaven and hell. The mighty oak falls hard for love. So late, I’ve discovered what a true romantic PG really is. Lydia’s a woman of strength, substance, and seduction, and Cole’s got a savage, kinky, brutal sexy side that’ll make you sweat. This series couldn’t have ended better. Kudos Pam to a masterful series forever etched on my heart.

This wasn’t over. Not the job. And not this other thing…this unresolved connection. She knew at gut level she hadn’t seen the last of Cole Hartman.

First, a minute of silence for the end of this A-MA-ZING series! The Deliver series and the Freedom Fighters will permanently have a space in my heart. Every one of these stories moved me in a special way, not only were they hot and deliciously dark, the stories were moving and compelling and just so good!

So Complicate, what can I say, I've been waiting for Cole's story forever. Ever since reading the Tangled Lies series I became a fan of Cole's (even though I loved how Tangled Lies ended). So when Cole moved on to the Deliver series I was thrilled, and when Pam said she would give Cole a book, I couldn't contain my excitement.

I think at it's core, Complicate definitely delivered. It was action packed from beginning to end and the plot was intricate and complicated (pun intended). The plot was interesting and different than the other books in the series, although I loved how everything came full circle and the last book also featured kidnapper falling for their captor.

Cole was Cole and he was just awesome. At first, I wasn't really feeling Lydia, but the more I got into her story, the more I got that she was not only great for Cole but also a great addition to the Freedom Fighters. As always, Pam is the queen of the dark and delicious and this was no exception. This was hot AF. I also loved all the cameos from both the Deliver and the Tangled Lies characters.

As I said before, I'm sad the series ended, but I'm so looking forward to whatever Pam will bring us next!!!!

As she fell asleep in his arms, he felt untroubled, clearheaded, and happier than he ever remembered being. She rejuvenated his soul, elevated his spirit, and gave him a new reason to fight. It might be cold and dark in this tiny room, but there was beauty in it, inspiration, and a promising future. She was all those things, and he was so damn glad he’d taken the risk.

3.5-3.75 stars

A business man who wants to be the president, who has a piece of incriminating evidence held by a foreign government who will use it to blackmail him once he is in power-where does she come up with this inconceivable character?

…….. oh wait

We are kept in the dark for a large part of the book as to the reasons why Cole had been captured and was being tortured (psychologically).

I found that some of these scenes and post release scenes dragged and found myself skimming-but later read back to fill in some gaps I’d missed.

Everything is forgiven and revealed.
When everything is revealed-it all makes sense. Some far fetched points but hey, it’s fiction.

Overall a solid send off of this awesome series.

“I don’t want to be an addiction. I want to be the love of your life.”

i'm sad this journey is over. i may have cried a lil in the beginning because i wasn't ready for all of this to be over. i fell in love with cole from the minute he was introduced. he's such a hopeless romantic that i need someone like that. he is everything.

my fav book is def take (book 5) but this book is just as good but in a different way. i gave it 5 stars because of cole and only cole. this guy finally had his happy ending. goodness he has suffered so much that i felt everything he has felt.

i was so confused in the beginning of this book because i thought pam godwin didn't research russian cuisine (i'm russian) and i was just like am i missing something? but cole baby figured it out and i just loved how i was fooled.

i didn't know where this book was going but cole being cole was 10 steps ahead of everyone. do i love lydia? she's not my fav but i don't mind her. i def wanted more angst between them but then again i also just wanted cole to have someone.

i'm so sad to be done with this series. it has been such a good journey and i'm so happy that i picked up these books. def got some comfort characters <3

Ahhhhh!!!! It feels like I have been waiting for Complicate foreverrrr but what an amazingggg series finale this book has been!!! Cole and Lydia were absolutely explosive!!! I loved this story so much and was obsessed with this intense and amazing ride!

Gah!! I have been looking forward to Cole Hartman's story throughout this series. He is raw, volatile and so elusive. You never know what you're going to get with him so seeing his genuine connection with Lydia just blew my mind! I loved how dominant he was but also how well-matched Lydia was to his alpha nature. They both were broken characters separately, but together they fit so perfectly with one another.

This story was one fast-paced adrenaline ride that took you all over the world and left you gasping for more. I loved this story and could not have asked for a better ending for Cole. Complicate is the absolute perfect conclusion to the Deliver series and one that will stay with me forever! Pam Godwin has proven herself and then some as the Queen of Dark Romance! 5 stars! ~Ratula

I was tempted to give this 3.5 stars rounded up but nope, since I had to pay $ for it, I have a slightly higher bar.

Why 3 stars - the writing is fine. Some good lines. Sex is fine. Pretty intense. (And lots of it). The plot is OK, nothing stellar. The intensity of the attraction and emotion was great UNTIL about half way through.

The short of it until 50% was the Hero, Cole, got kidnapped and "tortured" by a bunch of ppl incl the ring leader heroine for information that he has. Ending in her raping him while he's tied down. Then he got the last laugh when he F'ed her in her other hole.

That took 50% right there.

But the push and pull was interesting. Battle of wills. It all went downhill from there. Up to that point it was 4 stars edging toward 5.

THEN, she saved his life and he got obsessed with her. Started stalking her as she went about her "mission" for 18 months. During which neither of them had sex with anyone else (thank god).

What intrigued me about this book is Cole's celibacy. Which is self-imposed for 7 years until he met the h bc he was in love with another woman all that time. That his first "sex" is rape was... interesting. I was wondering how the author would turn this into LOVE.

Well, she fell short, is the short of it. The sudden 0 to 100 of the MCs getting together and IN LOVE suddenly was jarring. No natural progression, not even a moment of clarity or realization, other than her saving his life and him becoming obsessed.

After that, everything was anticlimatic, from resolving the plot to them getting hitched. Even the meeting of the guy's ex was anticlimatic.

My takeaway - his weakness is anal. Give that to him and you're golden.

LORD.

This is why I don't jump to read this author's books.

The premise and delivery had promise. But ultimately didn't deliver.

First off I'm sooo sad that it's over but Cole didn't disappoint. All through out this series we see glimpse of Cole so I was always wondering what his story was. Then he meets his downfall in the name of Lydia. Oh what a hot intense connection, at first I didn't know of I would get past a certain part and still like her but dang it I did. Loved them both. They way this story played out was amazing. There was intensity, passion, pain, hurt, lies, and love oh so much love. Amazing series !!! Loved each and every story!

It was with a huge anticipation that I started Complicate, Cole'a book and conclusion of the epic Deliver Series. If you haven't read the Tangled Lies Series, don't worry, you'ee not goung to be lost at all, the author gives us the all the back story you'll need!
"This devil was far more deadly, possessive, protective, deeply passionate, and complicated."

The mystery surroundind Cole's past in the previous book left me longing for more, and Mrs Godwin didn't disappoint in a story filled with suspense, grit, scorching hot sex and heartache. Man, did it make me scream!
"You haven’t just become his mission. You’ve become his obsession.”

At turn, I hate and felt for Lydia, the revenge driven woman, harboring a rockabilly style. Cole needed a strong and independent woman to match his brooding and dangerous persona; he definitely found his match in the feisty young redhead.
"He’d never felt this hungry, this captivated, this fucking petrified of his own lust."

Between the cold cells and the heated nightclubs, Cole's loneliness and the family vibe of the Freedom fighters, I got immersed one last time into the the dangerous and twisted world of this dark and edgy serie. It's not without regrets that I said goodbye (I hate goodbyes!) to all these incredible characters who never left me unfeeling and pushed my boundaries.

BR with My the lovely Vera, thanks for putting up with my repetitive tantrums!🖤🥂

ALL MY REVIEWS CAN BE FOUND ON MY BLOG: ABSTRACT BOOKS

line

Star Rating : 4.5/5 Stars

POV : Third Person

Cliffhanger : None

Hero : Cole

Heroine : Lydia

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 5/10

Heat Rating : 7/10

Triggers Involved : Non Con , Starvation , Torture.

Plot Summary :
Lydia and Cole have an amazing tale that pulled at my heartstrings so bad. Cole Hartman has always been lonely since he lost the one girl he had loved to his best friend. Dani was everything to him and now she was gone. So he lived his life in solitude. Things take a sudden turn whren the only family he has ever known is endangered and now it’s his chance to save them all. Even if it means surrendering himself to the very people who paln to torture him for information anf what not.

Lydia is an enigma. Forced to survive in the worst situations , she is not scared to use all the tactics she knows to break Cole. He has the information she wanted and there is no way she is letting him go unharmed. Even if it means hitting him where it hurts the most. The people he loves.

Overall Opinion :
OMG. The finale is finally here! Cole and Lydia have this amazing and explosive taste which surpassed all ym expectations for the finale of this series. We met al;l the characters , and my beloved Cole who deserved his own ending now finally has one!

Lydia and Cole had a very rough start. Lydia was a true spitfire and a ruthless woman, She tried her damn hard to break Cole but didn’t know that the man she was trying to destroy was the only one who could destroy her in return. If only that mattered. Something much bigger was at play here and they both were just mere pawns. And now it was all fair in love and war. Highly recommended to all the Dark romance lovers out there! Beware that this book is full of triggers such as kidnapping , torture and Non con scenes too!

Gaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh. Oooooooofffffffff. Is that enough to say in a book review? I just can’t legitimately put any meaningful words together because I’m panting like a dog. Is it over? It can’t be. I need to go back and wipe my brain and start it all over again, right from the top with Liv and Josh.

Cole Hartman. Big, strong guy. He gives his heart and he gives it completely. There’s a back story, you can read it if you want, it’s a great series, I promise. Find out about him. Fall in love with him. Be on his team. I’m team Cole. He loved his tiny dancer and I wasn’t sure if I was ready for him to move on.

Then Cole does move on, into another world. Hello my favourite vigilantes. The freedom fighters. Saving the wronged and taking out the bad guys.

Lydia. Tiny, strong girl. She gives her heart and she gives it completely. Her backstory is for the reader to find. It’s explosive. I want to be on her team #teamswallow.

The plotting in every book is amazing. The writing is brilliant. The characters, I love them all (Van and Tiago, sorry boys but you need to keep up the good work).

A cute guy playing football and spin time forward to a cute guy playing football again. I don’t even know what I want from life anymore. I don’t know if I can separate this book from the entire journey that this series has taken me on. I’ve loved every page. Every chapter.

⭐️ 5 explosive stars⭐️

because love wasn’t a choice

Before I get to my review I need to remind my fellow readers that Cole’s story doesn’t start with the Freedom fighters, his story begins with the Tangled lies trilogy, although you don’t need to read that in order to enjoy this book, I strongly recommend you do, if you wish to do so, do it before you get into this least you’ll spoil all your pleasure.

And now... in Tiësto’s words … let’s get down to business…

I must admit I had my reservations about Cole’s story, I was worried I couldn’t get him out of the box I had put him in my mind. I was adamant he was never fit for what he so desperately wanted, but I had no idea what a perfect fit could be for him. This was true until Lydia came along. She’s the match he needed but didn’t know about.

He’d never seen anything so shockingly exquisite, so uniquely beautiful. Flawless skin, luscious lips, and voluptuous curves. A statuesque woman with the appearance of a goddess, the heart of demoness

Pam did it again, she went straight for the kill and gave us a story so full of feels I felt overwhelmed, each line of this tale pulled my strings, she played my heart and soul painfully and beautifully, stroking the pages with a darkness that puts her among my most trusted writers. I put my doubts aside and went into this blind, with a trusting heart, free from prejudices. I didn’t come out unscathed and that’s exactly what I was looking for.

Cole Hartman is the ultimate alpha, obsessively possessive, borderline stalkerish, brave and able to get from captive to conqueror, you may think you have him in your grip, it isn’t until it’s too late that you realize in reality you were playing his game. The rules changed according to his wishes and you fell into his trap like a lamb to the slaughter. He has suffered so much and so long, he deserves closure and his HEA he was due his deliverance.

Lydia is the sassy, fiery, no nonsense heroine who breaks into Cole’s resolve. She has been though a lot, she is afraid of getting involved, she has put up impenetrable walls to guard her heart. It takes someone as assertive as Cole to annihilate all her doubts into dust.

Cole and Lydia’s story is complicated, raw, perfectly imperfect it will have you panting and second guessing everything, this tale if full of twist and turnings dotted with mysterious suspense until the very end.

His feelings about it were complicated. He felt a torrent of anger and relief, guilt and redemption, grief and hope, and never-ending loneliness.

This is the last book of this magnificent series, the journey has been adventurous, deliciously dark, devastatingly sexy, I’m really gutted I have to let go, I know I’m going to miss all these amazing Freedom Fighters. I love to see them all together interacting, bantering, making fun of each and going on missions, I must admit I wished for more of that, seen as this is the last (insert tears 😭) book I would have expected a little more action, reading more about their time together. That said... I still hold hope Ms Godwin will give us some cameos here and there… or an extended epilogue... pretty please 🥺 🥺🥺 In the meantime, thank you for Pam for making us part of this world, for giving us your words and these amazing characters.

Three stars just cause Cole is one of my faves, but he deserved better 😏

3.5 ⭐'s

A couple of notes before explaining this review: I've only read the first two books of this series and while very good (both 4 stars), I'm just not into dark books. So, you might be wondering why I'm reading this book, the ninth and last book. Well, I can answer that in one word - Cole. That's it, plain and simple.

Luckily, I saw a friend's note on this book that it was Cole's because I had no idea (thanks Steph!). I loved him in the Tangled Lies series and even though he wasn't my pick, I hated how things ended for him. That made me really excited to see who Pam Godwin could come up with that would help - and win over - Cole.

This book starts off with a bang - with Cole getting captured (somewhat) and taken to a warehouse to be tortured. Unfortunately, he knew that would be the case but he really had no other choice.

We meet Lydia...very interesting and comes off very innocent but trying very hard. I totally felt she was as young as she comes across...young and inexperienced. Don't let the inexperienced part fool ya because this girl has done things and she does those things on Cole.

And I'm torn about that (like I said, these books are dark). We do get his POV (as well as hers) and they both have feelings and there is plenty of chemistry...but still.

Cole is vulnerable but not. A tortured man can only take so much. And Cole is always trying to find a way to flip things. This is what made it hard to believe how quick he would ultimately flip.

Things escalate and events are even bigger than Cole could imagine so with a little help from his friends, they are able to put events in motion.

I did enjoy how things played out. It was amazing seeing Trace (I LOVE that he is the exact same...LOL!) and Danni and getting caught up with them. And it was great seeing the rest of the gang...some I knew and a lot I didn't but I really didn't feel like I missed out on anything.

The story felt like a good wrap up to the series so if you enjoy dark romance, you might want to give this a try!

Cole’s story gives me mixed feelings.
On the one hand,i absolutely LOVE his story.
But on the other,it means the series is done, and it breaks my heart.
Even though it ends in a good way.....

The team is ready to find out who’s behind the murder attempts, and work out a plan to do just that.
But when Cole activates the GSM bug, only one person arrives,on a motorbike.
Worse, she knows where everyone is,and if Cole doesn’t come with her, there will be consequences for them.
Which leaves him no choice, but to order the team to stand down and go with her.
What follows is a month of “creative torture”,but Cole wouldn’t be Cole if he didn’t keep it together without breaking.
And once he’s allowed out of his cell,he starts working on the one in charge,Lydia.
She wants him to give up the location of a hard drive with intel she’s hired to get her hand on.
Only, there’s more to her story than meets the eye,and Cole is intrigued.
When her client gets impatient and decides to order a different tactic,Lydia helps him get away.
But there’s no getting away from Cole.....not when she makes him feel things he didn’t think he could ever feel again.
And he’s determined to find out the who,why and what.
But once he does, his goals change and a different hunt follows.
With Lydia under his,and his team’s protection.
Because she is his,and she’d better get used to it.

I am só glad Cole finally found his other half!
He needed someone strong and wild enough to share his life with.
And Lydia, what she went through to share the truth of what happened to her family with the world.....that shows her strenght and determination.
I love how they opened up to eachother, sharing their painful pasts, and came out even stronger.
How,even after all that she’d done,he gave her his truth of those events, and showed her how he really felt.

And finally,i love how the Freedom Fighters work together as one.
How they are a real family that will always take care of eachother,no matter what.
That will find evil and erase it from the world.
This was a fabulous series, and i’m sad it ends.
But it was a series that left it’s mark, and will stay with me for a very long time.

Wonderful finale to a spectacular series!
I was so excited for this final, 9th book, and Cole's story! But now I'm so sad because the series is over!
The elusive and pragmatic Cole is finally brought to his knees by the voluptuous and beautiful Russian spy Lydia. He is so strong and virile but has met his match in in this gorgeous woman.
This story takes the reader on an intense and exciting tour around the world. We are exposed to espionage, intrigue, and passion in this well written and much loved final story.
If you have not started this series I highly recommend you do!

First I gotta say that I haven't read the Tangled Lies trilogy because..
1. I hate love triangles
2. I HATE love triangles
But I've read the spoilers so kinda like I've read the books🤷‍♀️

I knew Cole from the previous books so of course I was excited to see with what kind of h he would end up knowing he was so in love with Dani and how that whole situation would be resolved and I liked that part. Covering the tattoo, than throwing the engagement ring felt like a closure for them.
On the other hand - Lydia. I really didn't like her in the first part. She was supposed to be badass, dangerous and all I could see was a really desperate, naive and kinda stupid in the begining. I also didn't like her methods of torture If you could called them that🤦‍♀️😂 I guess from the previous book I expected something so much darker.
The main thing I hated was their insta-love/lust. There wasn't any build up, their relationship was purely sexual in the the first half giving how Cole was celibate for 7 ys and Lydia was the first one and then we have the you're it for me, mine, the one😂
Also one thing I noticed was the lack of action. As this is Cole's book I expected so much more. It felt like the whole story was more character driven, so some parts were a little boring for me. I liked the second part a lot more because it finally felt like the story was going somewhere.
