Caitriona Balfe will star in Belfast, filming while waiting for Outlander Season 6

Caitriona Balfe has landed a new movie role. She’ll star in Belfast, a movie set in the 1960s. Here’s what we know about the movie so far.

Balfe will star with Judi Dench, Ciaran Hinds, and Jamie Dornan. They’ll play the grandparents and parents of Kenneth Branagh in Branagh’s most personal movie so far. It’s an important tale of a young boy growing up in one of Belfast’s most troubled times in recent years, something that will be close to those starring in the movie.

Branagh is directing the movie.

Belfast is filming right now

According to Screen Daily, the movie has already started filming. Right now, filming is taking place around London but there are plans to move it to the Northern Ireland capital later in the month.

What does this mean for Outlander Season 6 filming? Well, it turns out filming isn’t likely to start in September. Belfast is set to film throughout September. It doesn’t take as long for movies to film as it does for TV shows, though.

John Bell recently shared on his Instagram stories that filming for Season 6 isn’t likely to happen until January. There are a lot of things to consider right now for filming, especially with parts of Glasgow and surrounding areas looking at potentially going into local lockdowns.

When will Belfast be released?

Of course, you want to know when you’ll get to see Caitriona Balfe in the movie. There’s no released date set yet. This is something that won’t likely happen until after the movie has finished filming. After all, nobody knows if there are going to be further shutdowns during this month.

There are still talks of a second wave of the coronavirus hitting sometime between September and December 2020. Waiting for filming to be finished may be a smart move right now.
