It’s that time of year when events start happening and people start heading outdoors to enjoy the Natural State! We have wrapped up another Arkansas winter and it is time to let the spring activities commence with outdoor festivals, concerts and baseball games. Take a peek at some events happening in April.
Delta Roots Musical Festival
Visit the Delta and celebrate Levon Helm’s rich heritage with The Weight Band led by the guitarist who was closest to him. There will also be arts and crafts and a Beans, Greens and Cornbread competition.

Minor League Baseball in Arkansas
Arkansas is fortunate to be home to two minor league baseball clubs. The Arkansas Travelers are a Minor League Baseball team based in North Little Rock, Arkansas. The Travelers are affiliated with the Seattle Mariners. The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are based out of Springdale and are an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. Attending the games of these ball clubs is always fun because they have activities for the crowds, themed nights and the best ballpark food. Take time this month to head to a game with friends or family.

Spring Sing
The musical variety show will feature hundreds of students involved in seven productions, plus 23 ensemble cast members and four hosts and hostesses accompanied by the Harding University Jazz Band.
Since 1974, Searcy has been home to this musical extravaganza showcasing the talent and spirit of Harding. This year, more than 19 social clubs are represented in club performances with themes like bees, Disney, rock ‘n’ roll, Saturday morning cartoons, archaeologists, haunted Harding and ‘where’s Waldo?’. Additionally, ensemble cast members and hosts and hostesses will perform accompanied by the Harding University Jazz Band.

Arkansas Folk Festival
The Arkansas Folk Festival in Mountain View, Arkansas marks the beginning of the 2022 season at the Ozark Folk Center State Park. Admission is free to the Craft Village on both Friday and Saturday. Bring your friends and family for live music at the Blacksmith Stage and craft demonstrations in the park. This would make for a perfect family outing to kick off the beginning of the season for the Ozark Folk Center.

Kids Fest
Kids Fest is a day devoted to kids having fun. The events take place at the Statehouse Convention Center. There will be mini figure displays, bounce houses, costumed heroes, princesses, community organizations, video games, tabletop games, a nerf battle maze, photo ops and so much more! One of the big features this year is a 65-foot obstacle course designed to challenge kids to the very end.

Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live
For the first time ever, Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live will visit First National Bank Area for 3 epic performances! Fans of all ages will enjoy an exciting lineup of epic monster trucks as they experience the thrill of watching the iconic Hot Wheels monster truck toys come to life in a full-size, kid-focused, immersive Hot Wheels experience. If you have kids, you should check out this event.

Earth Day Festival
Join the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks as they celebrate 52 years of Earth Day with an event that includes family-friendly activities, crafts, music, games and giveaways. You will be able to visit booths and explore six cultivated acres of garden beauty! Plus, the City of Fayetteville will be giving away free saplings. There will also be live goats for guests to pet and feed.

Toad Suck Daze
Hop to downtown Conway at the end of April for Toad Suck Daze, which is the largest, free-admission, family festival in Arkansas. During the three-day event you can gather in the streets of downtown Conway for food-on-a-stick, local and national entertainment, arts and crafts, activities for kids, and, of course, the World-Famous Championship Toad Races as well as several festival-sanctioned events sponsored by local non-profit organizations take place throughout the weekend such as a 5K/10K race and the Tour de Toad bicycle race.

The Arkansas Italian Food and Wine Festival
The Italian food festival features the best Italian cuisine in Arkansas, great live music, Bocce, a cooking competition, a demonstration tent and a Waiter’s Race! There will be plenty of activities for the kiddos, including bounce houses & face painting. This is a perfect event for family fun and good food.

Cabot Strawberry Festival
The Cabot Strawberry Festival is happening this month and is a key festival in promoting local strawberry growers. The festival will have live entertainment, a carnival, kid zone, food trucks, vendors, 5k race and of course strawberries! So, plan to attend this festival and enjoy some Arkansas strawberries!

Moss Mountain Farm – Farm Tour and Lunch
There are several April dates to choose from to book a farm tour and lunch at Moss Mountain Farm. This includes a guided tour through P. Allen Smith’s three-story Greek Revival-style home, a tour through Allen’s Terrace Garden, the Hidden Rose Garden, Hydrangea Allée and P. Allen Smith’s one-acre Vegetable Garden. You will also get a farm-to-table lunch featuring a seasonal recipe from P. Allen Smith’s book as well as a visit to Poultryville to meet the chickens and other animals.

Every year since 2003, the Ozark Blues Society of NW Arkansas sends our Blues Challenge winners to Memphis to compete in the International Blues Challenge. This year our winning band is The Jeff Horton Band. This is an opportunity for NWA bands to meet the most important people in the Blues music world — record label executives, national festival bookers, agents and managers. This year’s event is at the Meteor Guitar Gallery in downtown Bentonville, on April 30th. Thank you for your help getting the word out.
