Daisy Ridley has only just embarked upon what will surely be an exhaustive promo trail for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but she’s already flexing her fashion credentials. Attending the film’s LA premiere, she wore a bespoke crimson Oscar de la Renta gown, pairing the suitably festive one-shoulder dress with matching Jimmy Choo heels (and a touch of Anita Ko sparkle).

The British actor, steered by stylist Samantha McMillen – who also counts Brie Larsen and Evan Rachel Wood as clients – has no doubt prepared a wardrobe of similarly noteworthy gowns from an array of storied houses for the promo trail. And why not? The latest Star Wars outing couldn’t have been more eagerly awaited by its devoted fan base. Directed by JJ Abrams, the new film picks up where 2017’s The Last Jedi left off, and we find Rey (played by Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) ready for revolution, preparing to take on the First Order, led, it would seem, by a resurrected Emperor Palpatine.

The question remains: which brand will Ridley turn to to showcase the film, due to hit UK cinemas on 19 December, on home turf? Rewind two years, and the actor wore a one-shoulder silhouette courtesy of Raf Simons on the red carpet in London. Watch this space.
